It's that time of the season again.

25% off at Whistles KLAXON.  Code is WH25SS16.

Yes, all other blogs shelved for the day as it's the one discount code a year which I really look forward to.  Having said that, I always think I have loads of things I want and then rarely buy anything.  But it's always worth a look...

So thanking you kindly Grazia for giving me the excuse to spend an hour not walking the dog as it's completely peeing it down with rain (I'm walking miles with her tomorrow morning so don't feel remotely guilty, plus she loathes the rain - strange/sensible dog) and I had a hairy drive round the M25 first thing for a meeting.  So tea, toast and a gander at the Whistles website was just what the Dr ordered.

I buy a fair bit from Whistles and have done for years - in fact, my first ever suit was from there, I remember almost crying at how expensive it was but I wore it for years.

Dresses are one of my favourite purchases and two in particular - cocoon dresses, I bought four years ago, one in a bright yellow and one in a navy leopard print and both are still Summer staples.

This year is no exception with ones I would wear.

Amelia Lace Dress £220  I feel this needs an injection of oomph in shoes.  I'm thinking strappy, I'm thinking colour, I'm thinking another blog.  But the dress would see you through the Spring/Summer.

This I've seen instore and it's gorgeous.  The Cut Out bit refers to the back so you'd have to do clever bra rearranging (clearly one of the head dress designers at Whistles is either a man or has pancake boobs).

Kelly Cut Out Dress £160

The perfect LBD.  Ideal to dress up for a night out or throw on with sneakers for the school run (once it gets warmer.  If we can actually think that far ahead.  It seems like a mere pipe dream now, no?).  This fabric from Whistles a) never creases and b) washes like a dream.  The perfect dress to also roll up and take on holiday (like the ones I have.. I think I should probably add black to the equation).

Paige V Neck Crepe Dress £120

But instead of a dress - how about a top and a bottom option.  I will admit, the inspiration for this came from this pic when I thought COOL JUMPSUIT and hey ho - it's a top and trews.  Which ultimately is a lot more useful.

Textured High Waisted Trousers £130

And the One Shoulder Rib Knit Black top £95

Another top option is the Rib Knit Long Sleeve Bardot top which works perfectly with the trousers - £95

I'd also wear both these tops with A line leather skirts...

These have been on my wishlist since last Summer.  Never in stock in the Winter so although it seems barking to buy it now, you'll never be able to snag it with the 25% off usually.  A complete classic that you'll have forever.  And you won't need to buy a coat next A/W.  Just layer this over - well, anything, but when it's super cold, over leather jackets these are just gorgeous (admittedly this isn't such a great solution if you don't have a leather jacket...).

If you did need any further persuasion these are reversible so essentially you're getting two jackets for the price of one.. and if you're going to use 25% off, the more you spend, the more you save (ok, totally clutching at straws with this one.  It's logic I tend to use with the husband... it makes TOTAL sense in my head).

Longline Sheepskin Gilet £695

And in the black

They'd also look great over a Summer blazer and the jersey Molly is a Whistles classic.  Really good price anyway but even better with the 25% off.

Molly blazer in grey £95

And in the black again £95

And whilst we're here, the one bag (and yes there is one sort of bag I don't have) is a backpack (ie the one above).  If you'd told me this time last year, I would be lusting after a backpack I would have guffawed.  However here we are and I can *actually* envisage myself wearing one - tourist stylee...  Who'd have thunk it?  Before we know where we are, I'll be drooling over a bomber jacket.  (Dear god no, please no.  Not on me.  Just not right.)

Verity Backpack £280

Now as you can see - a riot of colour today on the blog today... so continuing the theme with some ummm black sandals.

Laxo Croc Platform Sandals £175

And since it seems futile to now throw in any form of colour, I'm finishing with white.  I had these on the blog way back in Jan (I think..) when they first came out and the love affair with flatforms was first mooted.  I thought I might have gone off them.  I got the Nike Air Force Ones (sporting today) as I thought they were more weather friendly and half the price.  Well I definitely fell in love and am more than tempted now by these.

These I think would be unbelievably versatile.  I love with all sorts of trousers (be them skinny, tapered, wide legged or cropped), culottes and skirts.

Melby Espadrille Trainer £165

Do I carry on plundering the sneaker look or do I try and ring the changes with a mid block heel?  I am throwing these in now as I had either a moment of genius or a moment of madness yesterday thinking I NEED a pair of mid heel shoes.   In the cold light of day I'm not convinced, I won't lie.  But I'm throwing these in as a definite maybe.  And shall be back to explore the subject in more detail shortly.

Ness Patent Mid Heel Mary Jane £160

And then honestly I have to stop as I will keep going.  Anything you fancy?  What have I missed??

In the meantime, the weather is so dull, I refuse to mention it.  Suffice to say, what a difference a day makes.

I have so much that I want to blog about at the moment - suddenly full of ideas I want to explore for new season.  I also have a theory about which direction I'm going in for the Spring.  Which I shall be talking about in more detail in person at a hush evening next Thursday 10th March in London, that I'm talking at which everyone can come to!  All details can be found here.  Would be lovely to see some of you there!

  1. Hi Kat,
I love the longline gilet's but sadly they make me look like a fat sheep ... they just make my head look tooo small !!
I bought a hairy leopard print coat last year from Topshop and one day it's fine the next day it just looks like I escaped from a farm.
Anyway, thanks for the black and white it has saved my sanity, I am currently in Angola and .... well, now I know where the clothing left on the sales rail at TK Maxx goes .....
    Keep up the good work,
    Deb.

    1. oh gosh - I know what you mean. There are certain things I can wear with my hair up and others I can't as I look like a pin head!

  2. Inspo as usual! Just to let you know my grey Jaeger blazer arrived and it's beautiful! It's almost too smart for what I have in mind but I'm sure I can dress it down ... It's so well made and for £39 I couldn't not buy it.... It's hanging next to a navy jersey blazer from Mango that I bought last year which looks very shabby next to it ( and cost £20 more!)

  8. Going to check out the whistles site now! Had a score with the jaeger grey jacket - it was sold out when I looked a few days ago. Had another look about an hour ago (when reading comments above) and my size (and only my size) was in stock! Was onto it quicksmart and the grey is now off the site totally. Perfect timing! Would also love to hear your talk... but am in the wrong hemisphere!

  9. Oh congrats on the exciting Hush talk! I would love to come (not least as it's on my birthday and I intend to shop with abandon on that day!), but being Yorkshire-bound is an issue.

Thank you for sharing the Whistles code. I shall peruse forthwith. That said, I have found their past few seasons a little disappointing and repetitive. Possibly my own fault for buying into the brand big style a couple of years ago (I have at least one iteration of all of their styles!). I agree with you about the quality, though. Top notch washer-friendly stuff!

    1. Thank you and such a shame you can't come but that's a slight trek..!

I know exactly what you mean about Whistles... it's a hard one for them but I do think there could be some more innovation in their dress styles for example.. Totally agree. I don't buy as much as I used to, I do think they've really upped their game on the accessory front!

  11. I went for the Harrison stripe jumper but am really tempted by the one-shoulder rib knit black top; if I had an occasion to wear it coming up, the Amelia dress would definitely be on my list too.

Can't wait for the Hush event - I've made so many brilliant finds through your blog, so it'll be great to hear more of your tips for the new season. x
