A once in a lifetime opportunity - grab it.

Right guys, have I got something beyond fabulous for you.

I've recently been contacted by the makers of a new prime time makeover show who are looking for busy women in their 30's and 40's who don't seem to have any "me" time (boy does that sound familiar or what) and who would like a completely new look.

This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a dream makeover, with the assistance of their team of high profile experts who have worked with top name celebrities, including Angelina Jolie, Keira Knightley and Daisy Lowe.  On offer will be top non-surgical procedures, hair, makeup, styling advice and cosmetic dentistry.

Here is the slightly tricky but not insurmountable surely, bit - you must be available for filming from the 12th to the 15th of October inclusive, in London.

Now I get countless comments and emails from lovely ladies who are so keen to get out of the slight rut they've fallen into fashion wise so I know that there are some of you out there to which this would be a dream come true.  Imagine a head to toe full body makeover?  How utterly tempting does that sound?  Please please can some of you move heaven and earth to be available for that week?  You will be in the care of the most wonderful team of experts - it just sounds beyond amazing to me.

If you would like further information (and don't hesitate to ask anything, regardless of how trivial you think it may be) or would like to apply for the show (go on go on!!!) please email liz.hetherington@storyvault.tv or monica.wellburn@storyvault.tv

They'll need one close head and shoulders shot of you looking like your 'day to day' self, a full body shot in tight clothing so they can see your figure and also a photograph where you feel that you look your very best!  Please could you also include your reasons for wishing to apply and a little bit about yourself.

Time is of the essence here so there is no time to worry about whether or not it's a good idea - it IS a good idea, it's an excellent idea and you've got nothing to lose.

Please let me know if you've applied or email me at doesmybumlook40@gmail.com if you have any questions you'd like to ask and don't want to ask directly.

This really is such a great opportunity - take the bull by the horns and do something for you.  Without wishing to sound like a naff shampoo advert - you're worth it.  Boom boom!

Very quickly as I want to get the above info out there as soon as possible and I have a PTA meeting to go to tonight.  Oh the glamour.  Dear god, please let there be wine.

I've had a couple of emails asking if I know of an alternative to the Ash Jalouse boot.   There is a Clarks one kicking around which, I know (S, you know who are!) some people like and you can guarantee that it would be super comfy.  But I came across this one from Oasis last night which definitely is the best I've come across.

The Willow Western Boot   £68 from Oasis

And here is the original - available all over the place for £145.  Light tan suede in the winter for that price.  Erm.  Not for me.

On my boot quest (oh the annual yawnathon of my boot quest) I have discounted (for the minute clearly - fully expect me to have changed my mind by next week) the divine Ash multicoloured suede wedges in plum, taupe and black.  With the recent deluge of rain, the reality of a winter boot that I can't actually wear in any vaguely inclement weather, struck me as being moronic.  To be fair, were it cheaper, it wouldn't concern me, but for nearly £200 - hell no.   The sensible shopping fairy (darn her) had a swift word.

So I'm back on the boot search.  Daytime chestnut ankle boots and night out black ones are on the must have list.   Must have - can't find (that I can afford).   If anyone is remotely interested I will report back.

Now a quick round up of what I've been wearing

Friday - that long ago, can't even remember what I did.  Am still doing lunchtime pick ups for smallest rugrat so it really can't have been that exciting.

    1. errrr no! I don't personally feel that I'm stuck in a rut with my clothes and am obnoxiously confident enough in how I dress to post my ugly mug on a blog for the world and his dog to have a giggle at so sort of defeats the point of the makeover. Were they to do a house version though, I'd sign up like a shot!

  4. Yes, because the woman with 1 of the most popular style blogs in the UK needs a makeover!
Would do it, but will someone think of the children?? Who will look after them if I bugger off to London for 4 days?

    1. Oh you are very sweet, thank you. I'd also struggle leaving the kids to be fair - it's a valid point. Some lucky people do have armfulls of family on tap though don't they (not me I hasten to add!)

  5. Can you wear the Oasis boots with a skirt, i.e. how big are they around the ankle, I have tried on quite a few that make you look like you have chicken legs sticking up out of the boots, if you know what I mean?

    1. I think you definitely can. It's a case of finding ones that aren't super wide on you - which will depend on either a) the width of the boots and or b) the width of your legs!! They don't have to be super fitted though but yes, you don't want a cotton bud in a beaker effect. Can't comment on the Oasis Jalouse style ones as I haven't seen them irl and also don't know how narrow your legs are!

TIs a question of trying them on unfortunately. Good luck!

  6. I have a pair of boots that look identical to the Ash ones but in black and they are fab and go with just about everything. The good news they were £12. The bad is they were from Tesco 2 christmas ago!

  9. I'm intriged as to why you're so keen for a blogger to take part in the programme. Are you involved in this too somehow, if so, wow! T.V. how exciting for you.

    1. No I"m not involved at all. I just think it's a great opportunity for someone to get themselves a total overhaul from experts in every field for nothing!

  11. If you've been asked to become involved in this TV prog then that's great and a good branch out from the blog (am sure i saw somewhere you are a wardrobe consultant?). However if you've merely been approached by a production co to do their advertising then that is really a downhill turn for your blog, you don't need to do that and despite being an avid fan it's quite off putting. If you could just remove the first half of this post and start at the boots bit its far more readable. I think that this is a good guide to how well dressed mums look with a lean towards current styles and many of us have similar items in the wardrobe and like to see how you put the outfits together. That's your forte and the little snippets of everyday family life really humanise it. Not the recruiting.

    1. Apologies for the post not being to your liking. It's not something that I have done or plan to do often at all.

I get countless emails from people saying that they are stuck in a rut and how much my blog has helped them and how they've started on the road to a new them. I thought that this, as I've said in other replies, would be a fantastic opportunity to get the ball rolling swiftly and would be of interest to a number of my readers.

As i've already said, I personally would be beyond keen to do something house related of a similar vein and would be most interested in hearing about an opportunity on a blog.

I don't personally see it as doing the advertising for a production company but see the flip side of it being a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants a new them.

Once again apologies that it wasn't to your liking. Hope you're happier with what I've done since! xxx

  12. Wow...if this doesn't interest some of you just don't do it, whats with the slightly bitchy undertone to some of the comments? Its only somebodies style blog about what she wears - nothing more.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I see absolutely nothing wrong with your post and 'helping' the TV company find participants for the programme. If people want to apply they can and if not, fair enough. I'm sure many of your readers would be delighted to be involved in the programme and, regardless of you advertising for the company or not, find the post by 'Anonymous' rather mean-spirited and po-faced
Don't let comments like this get to you (maybe you haven't?) and carry on with the marvellous blog

    1. Agreed. Normally production companies recruit via ads in the back of the Sun or Radio Times so we should actually applaud both them for trying to reach people who are genuinely interested in fashion (but are possibly a bit lost post kids and pre-menopause :) ). And thanks to Kat for passing on the message. TV's not my cup of tea, but I'm sure others will jump at the chance for an overhaul.

  14. A few months ago I would have jumped at the chance for a makeover.  After the birth of my second child I totally lost my sense of style, wore loungewear constantly and barely bothered with brushing my hair!  Since lurking on here I have become excited about shopping again and have started building a capsule wardrobe and trying new trends. You and I are of simiilar build and hairstyle so if I think something looks great on you it encourages me to have a go.  You are definitely are not in need of a makeover (what a rude comment!) and thanks to you I no longer feel I am. Keep inspiring us and thanks for sharing the details of the tv show - it will be one to watch! Xx

  15. Kat I love your blog. Ignore negative people. This is just feel good fun and I look forward to each new blog. No need to take it so seriously grumpy people above me!!

  16. Ooof, well my tuppence is that I do like your blog but that first bit jars a bit on your usual blogging style and comes across as being a bit manic.

If there is any kind of deal going on between yourself and the producers of this show, then I think it's only courteous to mention it to your blogging public.

I don't think anyone's being bitchy, surely we're all grown up enough to offer measured opinions?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agree. Can't see any bitchy remarks here at all. Not my kinda thing but good luck to anyone who goes for it! Cxx

      Delete
    2. Oh I wasn't remotely offended in the slightest in any of the comments - jaysus, if you put your life on a blog then it's probably advisable to have rhino style skin, which I do have. I agree, I don't think they were bitchy and I do appreciate the feedback.

I was merely exceptionally excited by the opportunity for someone - as I've said before, if it were house related, I would be beyond hysterical and would be signing up as fast as my bony fingers could muster.

There is absolutely no deal whatsoever going on between myself and the show hence I didn't mention it.

It does seem that it was of interest to a number of people so I did accomplish what I set out to achieve, despite perhaps alienating a couple of readers along the way. So my apologies and hoping you're enjoying normal service being resumed xxx

  17. I really enjoy your blog , and look forward to your updates, you've given me hope that at 42 I can find a style (yours!) on the high street that doesn't make me look like mutton dressed as lamb. I love that you point me in the right direction and give me focus on an area of my life that easily overlooked because as a working mum I don't always have the time to trawl round shops looking for outfits and could spend a fortune on magazines and still not find an outfit that would be suitable for my lifestyle and age. You have bridged that gap for me and I also love your sense of humour. Don't ever give up,

Anyway Ive sent in my photos in for the makeover and they asked for some more details so Im keeping my fingers crossed that I will be having a makeover next week. I will keep you posted.

    Keep up the good work.
