A Christmas Jumper

Now I wasn't actually part of a family growing up who had Christmas jumpers.  I definitely had a Christmas dress (normally of the velvet and lace variety - child of the 70's, natch) and I still do wear a dress every Christmas day (believe it or not.  And this year, I have a selection to choose from - still umming and ahhing about the Phase Eight DVF-esque dress to add to my stash.....) 

But I do love a festive knit.  This year, you could go old school and add a motif. (I never succumbed by the way - was definitely purely a Bob moment although were money no object or were it reduced to a tenner, I would snap up the Aubin & Wills fox number.  I know, I know.  And I don't care!) 

However, festive knit in my language is something that you can see from space.  Go for the bling.  I refuse to do tinsel in any way shape or form yet completely hypocritically, have no issue in adorning myself with a potentially tacky amount of sequins or lurex.  Go figure.  Or go forth and shop....

I have a fantastic silver number from Zara last year which served me well over the festive season.  And I've also had a fair bit of wear out of it during the year.  So a glitzy jumper can be for life and not just for Christmas!

Firstly, not strictly a jumper but a cardigan.  Super useful for a more casual Christmas day but very easy to dress up as well.  I've never actually bought anything from Wrap but they always do seem to have a great selection.

The best selection on the high street is, in my opinion, from Whistles.  Not cheap but at the moment there is 20% off a number of styles at John Lewis and House of Fraser.  Not sure for how long so be quick!

My favourite (as it's full on sequins clearly) is the Jackie Sequin Jumper






The Corinne Jumper from Whistles (20% off with this link from House of Fraser) is less "in your face" bling and would probably be far more useful in taking you through to the Spring/Summer.  Easily worn during the day but still dressy enough for a night out.  Gorgeous.  



They don't seem to have it in the blue at HofF but you can get it from the Whistles website.  A stunning colour (she says being completely biased as it's very similar to the shade of my Topshop dress)  The Corinne Lurex Sweater in blue.  Personally, so as not to put the family off their sprouts, I would think it wise to add a sturdier undergarment than the 16 year old modelling on the Whistles website is wearing)  But that's just my personal preference....not to have my boobs/bra or tummy button on show.







Something more reasonable can be found at Mango.  Especially of interest to you if you like your sequins and the look of the first Whistles silver number.

Phase Eight has come up trumps again with a couple of sparkly contributions. 

Firstly, the Bridgette Lurex Tape Jumper - much more of a casual feel in my opinion but not everyone likes to wear their bling with heels.

Clearly it wouldn't be a post from me if I didn't include a Zara number and this is, of course, just perfect.  In my newly beloved midnight blue. 







But my favourite has to be the Crystalised Knits Jumper from FCUK. It's not cheap but (as I know from my sequin jacket which is on it's fourth year), sequins at Christmas time are as obligatory as mince pies and mulled wine.  They just don't date.  If you love it, get it (or wait for the sale......is it my imagination or are these earlier every year?)




Just love the back detail.  A full on excuse not to wash your hair and wear it up "so you can show off the back of your jumper".  What's not to love?  (I'm also loving the drawstring cuffed pants as well.... all you who hate them, giggle now) 



Hopefully there is something there that floats your boat.  One thing I would say is that if there is one thing that is guaranteed to go straight into the sale on Boxing Day, it's anything with a sparkle or a sequin on it.  So if you're not in dire need for the day itself but have New Year in mind, it may be worth bookmarking it and seeing what you can grab after Christmas. 

Finishing as always with what I've been sporting the last couple of days for a round of Nativity plays, coffee (slash mulled wine) mornings (there is a high possibility I am going to turn into a mince pie the rate I'm going) and present shopping frenzy. 

And dressing on Wed and Thurs for the cold.  It was seriously cold.  By Thursday, as you can see, I'd given in to the Uggs.  As I have to endure copious amounts of grief from The Husband who hates these more than life itself, it has to be ridiculously cold for me to withstand the ribbing.
