So we've had black - now for a bit of navy love

Now here's the JOYOUS thing about navy. First of all, it looks amazing with black. I know it's something that your mother probably told you never to do, but YOU CAN! It looks elegant, it looks incredibly fresh and it's an ideal way to give all the black and navy things you have and may never have worn toghether - a whole new variety of outfits.
It's also - as much as I am loathe to admit as I am a dyed in the wool fan of black - more flattering for more mature skin. It has a warmth to its tone that black doesn't have and doesn't have the draining effect that black can. It doesn't mean don't wear black - I personally wear more make up to compensate - but it is more advisable to wear navy next to your face.
And whilst I have a plethora of fabulous black jumpers - I am definitely lacking in the navy department.
So this is a very specific blog post. All about the navy. Jumpers. I will include some crew necks but I'll be honest - I'm after a roll neck. Where does that very narrowed down obsession come from? Yesterday I went to Bicester with a friend and I fell in love with an oversized chunky knit. But it was too chunky. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of sturdiness on a jumper but it would have been simply too hot to wear!
I also tried on numerous gorgeous navy coats, as well as some checked ones and realised - I HAVE gorgeous navy coats - two of which are checked. And whilst I had been planning on wearing the navy jumper with them to bring them out of retirement, I didn't want an overly big one.
Much finer - ideally an extra fine merino, slightly oversized roll neck would have ben PERFECT. Or a wool mix. I did try on some truly great knits the other day in H&M (they're over on Instgagram stories) but they didn't have it in a navy.
So let the search begin.
This one from M&S I would size up for a slouchier look but these are great quality for a cashmere knit.
BUT THIS ONE is superb. Seriously an amazing jumper - definitely size up for a more expensive look if you're not petite.
Bargain at Noisy May Sati High Neck Jumper was £29 now £18
Puff sleve at Whistles but currently on offer at John Lewis was £125 was £93.75
Another neater fitted roll neck at Uniqlo.
Women's Extra Fine Merino Roll Neck £24.90
Chunkier and a tunic shape now at Esprit at ASOS.
Esprit oversized high neck knitted jumper £45
But my top tip is to take a look at the men's jumpers. Granted, if you're looking for something fitted, these don't work. However for oversized without being huge, these are great.
My tried and tested option in this category though is Uniqlo.
Another option though - a hoody! I LOVE my knit hoodie and this one from M&S in cashmere looks absolutely idea. Will be perfect with a blazer for a take on a classic look.
This a lovely soft jumper from M&S - size up for a more expensive look. It's also perfect if you prefer a boxier fit, it has a side vented hem as opposed to a gathered one giving it more of a tunic shape.
If you are looking for a crew neck - my favourites are again from Uniqlo. And I've had these for probably 6 years now. I always take the S which I would say is a 12. It does go down to XXS though.
Men Extra Fine Merino Crew Neck from Uniqlo £29.90
But if you do prefer a snugger shape, then the women's cashmere from Uniqlo is really good too.
Women's Cashmere Crew Neck £79.90
