Another Sales Hero
Believe me, there aren't very many out there. I am at home and have been all day long. And boy, has it been a very, Very long day. Ill husband working from home, poor sod. Absolutely pouring with rain (smallest child has a perforated eardrum and so can't go outside, and of course can't send one boy without the other. My life would not be worth it - there is no amount of chocolate that could make that fair) and I still feel rough.
And then, RR1 starts throwing up as well. With the washing machine on and the kitchen tidy, what else was there to do but shop. Clearly along with the rest of the world. As, as fast as I put things in my basket and went to check out, they disappeared. Fess up who else was shopping at FCUK and Whistles? To be honest, there was very little left anyway - very limited sizes and obviously I wasn't quick enough.
I was very near the edge. Near the edge of the Sales Abyss. That all familiar abyss that, once you've fallen in, you're a goner. Every single item of tat, just because a) it's in your size, b) it's an amazing reduction or c) if you squint it's ever so vaguely like the Stella McCartney version you had your heart set on, gets purchased. Purging on shit.
But no. A minor miracle occurred today. I stepped away from the edge. (which, seeing as cabin fever is starting to set in, is a minor miracle. If ever I was going to bathe in the waters of sales guff, having not left the house in 4 days from illness and over Christmas to boot, today would have been the day.)
A lifeline was thrown to me in the form of Reiss. All hail the Reiss sale. Excellent reductions, generally a great selection of sizes (if you're a 6 or an 8 this clearly will be of no interest to you as every single item I've seen I've wanted has been in your size.) Free delivery and free returns. A really simple ordering process as well.
So I'll crack on (once I've made my purchases) and hope you manage to get some bargains.
Starting with a stunning leather jacket. Again, I have my Spring/Summer head on (good god, what is it with this sensible version of me that's been let loose). This is a timeless purchase. You can just feel how buttery the leather will be. Reiss are definitely one of the go to places for good quality and reasonably priced leather jackets.
Rose truffle cropped leather jacket £140 from £350
Moving onto tops. A lovely basic in an interesting fabric - mainly put in as I thought it looked so lovely under the jacket above. Irritatingly I can't find those trousers though. Boo. Boo hoo.
Flecked T-shirt in soft grey £24 from £49
I haven't lost my mind regarding the below - tis a Body. I honestly think this would be a great addition to a wardrobe. Ideal for work but also a lovely staple to have for those evenings out. Marvellous with jeans but also dressy enough, even for a wedding.
Milo Black Wrap Shirt Body £87 from £125
This is exceptionally indulgent me me me. I love this shape of top. I find it infinitely flattering over skinnies or straight leg trousers - mainly for hiding that muffin top and mum tum (yes I do have one when I don't have my slinky Sainsburys hold it all in on, I promise - you can't see it as mainly I hide it well!)
Pcoket & Stitch detail top in Ink £47 from £95
Another ideal top and a great buy for pure silk (which I handwash by the way but you didn't get it from me...). Again an easy transition from work to nights out. Would look equally as great over jeans.
Poppy Frill front top in Lime £64 from £129
You may have worked out by now that I'm having a bit of a love affair with green. I think it may figure quite heavily in my S/S wardrobe. Maybe it's the fact that it's so dire out there weather wise, there's something so lifting and fresh about a lovely shot of green. Geometric prints are huge for S/S so this is going to be a great investment. Again pure silk. And not much more than you'd pay full price in Zara - perhaps less. (and you're not going to bump into 10 other people wearing it!)
Samara Print Pale Mint Printed top £62 from £125
On a top roll - this just screams sunshine to me. Beautiful with black now but just stunning with white once the weather warms up.
Jinny Grey Contrast Sleeve Print top £60 from £120
I am a complete magpie. It's woeful I know but this is just The best bargain. I love it, I've ordered it, I can't wait to try it on. My black and my blush sequin jackets have been so good to me and I get so much wear out of them, this is just a complete no brainer for me. Shirley Bassey eat your heart out (am pre-empting The Husband's comments as I type - have been practising my Gold Finger - middle one clearly - especially for him)
Shelby Pacific Blue Embroidered all over sequin Jacket £118 from £295
I will admit. I can't quite get my head around something this summery. But it's a sensible buy if you know you wear maxi skirts in the Spring. With a little navy or white tee and fitted denim jacket and flipflops, this would be stunning. I know I'm going to really regret not buying this.
Naveen Stone Printed Maxi Skirt £62 from £125
My last clothing item - look away now if you're not a fan of the baggy pant. I have been on a pants mission all day (can you tell I've been on Net-A-Porter - trousers, goddamn you). And I have failed. Firstly, they are like rocking horse poo - those of a more casual nature, and secondly any that were around have sold out completely.
These however are winging their way to me. I have high hopes (which usually is not a good thing)
Wallis Black Ruched Track Pants £55 from £110
Finishing with a couple of shoe beauties. The first - I think the majority of you will think ming. However I think they fit the bill perfectly for - as I mentioned the other day - making some very formal looking dresses look, well, less formal. Less worky. I will admit, I these will work better on those with longer legs (otherwise there could be very gladiatorial whiff in the air) but if you have long legs or just love them, they're a great reduction. Even better in the Olive.
Izabel Crystal detail boots - £98 from £245
They also do them in an Olive - £73 down from £245
These, however, I make no excuses for. These are an item of pure lust. Not too high (I know I know they're higher than most would like to wear but believe me, compared to most heels on the market which are stratospheric, these are positively mid height - and with a little platform too) The colour is just perfect and will go with pretty much anything. Despite me not remotely needing them, if they are reduced by 1p further, I will have to succumb. Perfect for adding a Spring touch to a black outfit with a tan bag.
Lily Rose Buckle Detail Sandal £84 from £169
I know I had said I would do my Christmas round up but since things are selling hot and fast online, I thought another small Sales indulgence was more important.
There is no outfit pic from me today as I am on the sofa in an oversized jumper, jeans and Uggs and Chief Photographer is chucking her little heart up. As my middle name is Florence Nightingale (not) I thought it perhaps cruel to rouse her from her deathbed. I'm all heart.
Hopefully see you tomorrow!
