An excuse to get the legs out

Well that's up there with things I thought I'd never type.  I used to look for any excuse not to have to get my legs out but thanks to my new found love of Cocoabrown tan, I am more than happy to embrace the last couple of days of Summer and flash the flesh.

And I've also found a new love - the jumper dress. I had totally planned on cheating on my ban last month with the Baukjen Great Big Dress Sale (I can fess up now) and just sneaking a small purchase in but totally forgot as we were on hols and I got carried away with the kids.   However lovely Baukjen sent me the sale jumper dress and I have to say, it has confirmed what I thought, that I would love a jumper dress.  (yes I do appreciate I totally and utterly cheated on the ban as I have been sent some lovely things last month)

However I am determined to also try and continue my no spending into September.  When I say determined..... I mean hopefully.  Although I will admit I did cave on the £5.50 Pull & Bear stripe sweater from the last blog - see below...... I am absolutely crud at this ban lark, let's fact it.

But back to jumper dresses, I actually think it works very well with the boots and will also be ok when it gets colder with opaques (and maybe my bare leg tights - I simply can't call them American Tan...)

This season I have also spied a couple of V neck options which definitely would work better for some people - they also look less top heavy than the cocoon shape perhaps.

Hobbs London Cathy Dress in Charcoal £110

And in navy/black melange £110

Another lovely Autumnal shade of v neck from Hush - Splice Dress in everglade/mallard £59

However another great kitted version if you're looking to try the trend out is this bargain from Mango.

Ribbed Sleeve Dress £19.99

They do it in lots of colours - love it in the dark grey.

Or a lovely forest green which would be fab with greys, navys or blacks.

More of my beloved stripes from Mango at £29.99

My favourite option is a round neck almost cocoon shape dress.  The same sort of shape as the Baukjen one I have - I got mine in a Medium by the way.

The Paola Knit Dress £71 in putty

I also love the Iris blue melange again £71.

Baukjen Paola Knit Dress £28  This may look quite summery but in fact I think it would look great with camel or grey for an Autumnal look.

I saw this one the other day in John Lewis and it looks great.  Now it was possibly too tall on me at 5ft10 but on a person of a more sensible height, it would be ideal.

Kin by John Lewis Charcoal cocoon dress £69

Other round neck dresses from Toast - Catrine Tunic in navy with yellow trim £139

And the Albine Dress also from Toast in grey melange £145

And in Pumpkin

A different option is the dropped waist Rosie Dress from Hush £65

In Mallard and black

And in damson and navy £65

And here I am in mine.  Excuse the rather foolish toothy grin.

And another outfit with the legs out.  This is the bargain Pull & Bear jumper which I couldn't resist from the lsat blog - I am beyond impressed with it for a fiver.  Although it is navy not black.

I am definitely back on a dress roll - watch this space...!  It appears we have another good weekend weather wise, so we should make the most of it.  Anyone else still have their legs out and what do we think of jumper dresses?  My advice would be to wear them looser with an oversized coat as opposed to anything clingier as they're not the most forgiving unless you have the body of a marathon runner.

Speaking of which, tomorrow morning I shall be doing exercise for the first time in over 3 months.  I am not expecting it to go particularly well.......

  1. Last Thursday I did my first exercise in THIRTEEN months ... as Leonard Cohen would say I now 'ache in the places where I used to play'!!! Suffice to say, there will be no unforgiving knitted dresses coming near this body anytime soon. You on the other hand, look fab x

    1. Err didn't make the gym today.... Honestly, they are not nearly as unflattering as you think, just make sure you size up!

  2. I love the Toast grey one and the Hobbs grey v neck, having a bit of a grey thing at the minute! The Paola looks great on you too. I love the idea of jumper dresses but for wearing in winter I'm not sure what with as seems like opaques are not right, thinking maybe knitted patterned tights. Hmm, not sure!

    1. Do you not think opaques? Yes - you're right knitted tights might work too - or the dreaded leggings...?!

  3. You look great in that dress Kat. I'm flat chested with wide hips and they worked well for me last year. Nice to get out of jeans, make an effort but still feel comfy!

    1. Nail on the head. It was so comfy and it was so loose, honestly I didn't have to hold anything in at all! Let it all hang out underneath (in the nicest sense of the word...) x

  4. I think you need to almost go "in" around the tummy area to get away with these. But love the legs still on show. And you look fab, as ever!

    1. Oh god no, in at the waist looks horrendous on me as I don't have a waist! I think it's almost better to have it loose and tunic like on top but with more legs. x

    1. It's gorgeous isn't it - the Kin one and it has pockets - love. But way too short for me. BOO

  9. I got the Sienna jumperdress in the Baukjensale. It is absolutely great but a difficult thing to wear temperature-wise. Last week I thought I could wear it but I found it too hot & with cold legs. Tried the thinnest tights underneath but that looked silly and was even hotter (in the wrong sense) So, I'll wait for the weahter to turn colder; I'll wear it then with opaques & ankleboots. Ans as for the spending-ban....I too suffer from an exhousted creditcard so I'm with you!

    1. That sounds like a perfect solution. Tbh I was really surprised when it worked with the bare legs and the boots but I really love it like that. Bargains aren't they!

  11. I LOVE a jumper dress, as much as I love a shirt dress ;-) The Toast one is fab, liking the elbow patches!

    1. The elbow patches are gorgeous aren't they - for me to get one long enough is a great find. I love a shirt dress too - just love x

  12. I love them all but they do look short and at 6ft2 I fear they may be verging on indecent!

    1. Yes that is a slight issue - I think the Toast ones may be longer... The Baukjen really isn't a bad length either (otherwise there is no WAY I would wear it) I'm only 5ft10 but have a 36 inch inside leg so most things are short on me. Hope that helps x

  15. I have the Hush one from last year, in navy. It washes well and is very easy to wear / style. And does not require any particular fitness regime. (Handy!) Flattering and not clingy x
