Classic Camel
It's the one thing I think that I'm asked for more than anything else (oh apart from jeans...).
Where can I get a great camel coat from? Especially when I wear mine which is a couple of years old (maybe three?) from Zara. It's knackered. To be fair, the shape is still amazing and I love the texture of the fabric, but the bobbling - oh the bobbling. I probably just to take one of those machines to it.
Along with grey coats, I think a camel coat is the most versatile shade to have in your wardrobe. It's a classic shade without a shadow of a doubt and if you get the shape right, you can wear it with most things. It will also take you from Autumn/Winter into Spring for sure.
It can add a completely different look to your wardrobe by teaming it with a colour you might not have first of - my two current favourites are navy and camel. And with red.
A camel coat is the one that can look super formal for work outfits, but somehow transforms a plain white shirt, jeans and sneakers. Dare I say, it may be the only coat you need in your wardrobe (yeah right. Clearly I don't *mean* that. But if you're only going to have one coat, then my money would be on a camel one.
As much as we are being bombarded with full on Spring outfits at the moment, it looks like we are set for a proper cold snap this week. Coats are back. And (as I may have mentioned once or a million times - I bore myself), come the end of January, the weather is always pants (another birthday ruined? Yawn).
These are definitely an investment piece for your wardrobe. But - a bit like I find with dresses - as much as there are lots out there, finding one that works for you is really hard. So when you find that fits the bill - buy it.
Are there lots out there to choose from? There are some interesting options for sure.
So I've snuck this one in as it's simply gorgeous. Possibly my favourite shape of coat - ok so admittedly I've fallen at the first hurdle with practicality and warmth but when a coat is this beautiful, who cares?
Suede Sienna Coat from Boden £399 And don't forget the 20% off with the code A2Y9. This is already selling out quickly so I don't think you can hang around to make your mind up.
Another collarless version at Oasis.
Collarless tab detail Coat at Oasis £85
Single breasted at Joseph. If you're looking for a looser one and to make an investment, this would absolutely be top of my must try list. As you can see from all these pics, a camel coat just makes any dull outfit, instantly stylish. Can you see now why one of these is so crucial for your wardrobe?
Sido Single Breasted Wool Coat from Joseph £595
ASOS Coat in Camel with bonded edge was £90 now £63
Staying with the single breasted and a variation on the collar, again in the sale at Maje.
Maje Grace neoprene and wool blend coat were £370 now £222
A gorgeous pale grey collar to this ASOS coat. Adore the shape of this and I personally love the inclusion of the contrast shade although I guess this might not make this as versatile as such.
ASOS Coat With contrast collar £75 They also have this in a tall and a petite.
And possibly most similar to the one I have but I can guarantee this would be far better quality.
Claudie Pierlot Gold Wool Blend Coat was £450 now £385 Mine has the same sort of half double breast.
But I think this would be my top choice were I to be buying another one. Absolutely love it. It's not cheap but it is a great reduction.
Camelhair Crombie Coat at Jaeger was £650 now £350
Or there's always this one from good old Autograph at M&S.
And.. can I just say I love this styling. Yes, something at M&S that they've styled that I like (clearly fussy as I am - and to be totally fair, generally the Autograph and Best of British are a cut above when it comes to styleing).
Ok - let me rephrase that. I like the idea of a chambray shirt, jeans and sneakers. With a camel coat. Perfect, go to outfit for Spring.
For Winter, I'd put a crew or v neck jumper over the shirt and add ankle boots. Big fur scarf and you're off.
Wool Rich Panelled Coat With Cashmere from Autograph £149
Onto double breasted at Vila at ASOS.
Vila Longline Double Breasted Coat £80
A paler shade of camel now at Oasis. Love the simple, classic style of this.
Angelina Seamed Double Breasted Car Coat £98
What was I saying about a white shirt and jeans?
Another style at the Jaeger Outlet with another flash 40% off till end of play on Monday (discounted at till), this is a great buy.
Wool long belted coat from Jaeger was £499 now £199 pre extra 40% off.
May I now present.. military. I can personally vouch for the longevity of this style. I have a grey military style coatigan (ridiculous word but it does what it says on the tin) that I got from 3.1 Phillip Lim over 8 years ago and it comes out every year. It has proven to be the most classic coat I own. Who'd have thunk it?
Love Moschino Women's Camel Military Coat now 50% off at £285
However may I present the bargain of the day from ASOS. Love the texture of this and for £25.. yes, that's £25!
ASOS Coat In Cocoon fit was £85 now £25
They have the same coat in Tall but it's only reduced to £38...
So there we have my selection of what's about at the moment. Best to get stuck in before the sales rails all disappear and we're swamped with summer dresses. Just in time for the snow.... Anyone else as is love with camel coats as I am?
Finishing with a not exactly but functional outfit from yesterday morning. Took the boys to football and the dog to the park. Two birds, one stone and there's a cafe that does great coffee too. The only reason for me to get up even earlier than the school run on a Saturday morning.

And yesterday afternoon/evening for our family Christmas. My first (of only three..) designated drinking days in January. Made the most of it - we had family staying with us and stayed up till 2.30am putting the world to rights with one of my sister in laws.

Today has been a day of not a lot. Had a lovely lie in as the husband took the two boys to a very short rugby session on astro, due to waterlogged pitches. Then I managed to send him and the two boys to Church for a First Holy Communion meeting an hour early, whilst I took the 11yr old to a drama lesson that we arrived two hours late for. So we arrived whilst it was finishing. All the great organisation skills present and correct chez moi today. Not.
Here's hoping everyone makes it into school tomorrow morning for a full week. I'm hoping to have the new look blog launched sometime this week, so please bear with me if things go a bit quirky... Very excited..
