When the technical gets tough, the tough go shopping.

There possibly is no end to my lack of technical prowess.  It's probably fairer to say I am a complete chuffing moron when it comes to anything remotely IT related.  One would say (not The Husband who is no longer talking to me after I shrieked at him for making me feel like an idiot when merely trying to help me with my technical balls up - professional term - last night.) that Apple perhaps, is made for people like me (essentially simple).  Well, hello all at Apple HQ - I've managed to feck up the unfeckupable.  Embarrassingly my 3 year old is more competent at using the Ipad/Ipod/Iphone/Macbook than I am.  I am admitting defeat (The Husband - I hope you're reading and feel free to say I told you so x a billion) I have just booked in for an Apple Tutorial.  Not entirely sure when I should break it to him that it might be on Saturday morning which will mean he'll be looking after the rugrats whilst I'm off being educated.  I'm thinking "it was your idea" might not be the best form of defence.

So, what did I feck up?  Whilst attempting to download photos from my Iphone onto my MacbookAir - a simple IT task I have done before (I'm not an amoeba, I do have at least 3 brain cells) - I inadvertently clicked on Itunes and it asked if I wanted to synch my phone.  Well as this is a new Iphone and has no music on it yet, despite originally synching it when I first got it a fortnight ago (and for some reason having my diary with everything an hour earlier.  Beyond irritating), I clicked Yes.  Huge huge fecking error.  It deferred back to my old Iphone and therefore deleted all my messages, new diary entries, new everything, including my photos.  Sob sob sob.  On the upside, I had already downloaded the majority of photos from holiday but all the ones from the Jubilee weekend including my outfit ones have been lost forever.  Irritated to say the least.

The upshot of my ramblings is that therefore there are no outfit photos from the last couple of days.  We have one pathetic offering from today.  I apologise.  I will add, as a paltry get out of jail free card, that the outfits were nothing new and exciting, seeing as it's been verging on November weather.  Again.  I have a plethora of summer outfits just raring to go.  Odds of wearing them this year?  I'm thinking not high.  (sitting here, it's looking like it's going to be a very long summer holiday.  Dear god.)

Nude vest - Primark
Faded ripped skinny jeans - Zara
Chambray painters smock - Joseph
Clay Thelma wedges - Ash
Gold bee necklace - Alex Monroe
Gold charm necklace - Made
Sunglasses - Tom Ford
Vanilla Roxanne - Mulberry

Now onto a far more exciting subject - Shopping.  I am having major withdrawal symptoms.  It's been two weeks.  In fact - faint - it's over two weeks since I have been shopping.  Clearly a number of my favourite websites are aware of this and have felt hugely sorry for me, sending me money off codes.  30% off at Anthropologie, 40% at My Wardrobe, 20% at All Saints, (where it was on specific items only. Handy as otherwise a dress I have had my eye on would have been mine).  There may well have been more but I've erased them from my inbox and my memory.

I do not need anything new.

Hmm I thought if I maybe saw it in writing, I might believe it.  Nope, not happening.  There is always something that one can need.  There is always a fantastic justification that one can come up with for buying something new.  And if one can't, then just email me as I always can.  It's a gift.  Other people are excellent at languages (or IT - gits), I am excellent at BS.

I am also super proud of eschewing the more expensive items that I could have bought and have satisfied my shopping craving with a pair of sandals (optimistic or what?  Stupid is more apt to be fair) that I have had my eye on for the last couple of months.

So when a 20% discount voucher popped up in my inbox from Clarks, it was the cheapest option and one that I could happily justify.  And so I have these winging their way to me.  Continuing my fetish with all things strappy after my Ash Thelma wedges.

Now I am the first to admit I am not normally a fan of Clarks shoes.  For no other reason that I've felt they've always just slightly missed the mark somewhere.  I'm not going to use the term Mumsy as that's not completely fair - they've just erred on the side of more practical for what I've been looking for.  Maybe I'm being delusional and it's all down to circling the big 40 but I think they've got some cracking shoes this season.  (actually they've had a lovely pair of black knee high boots for the past couple of years as well that a friend of mine has so clearly I'm talking out of my backside)

There are number of other ones that I think would be great if you're looking for a more practical every day sandal - perfect for work in fact.

Tarot Reading in Black

Dollar Craze in Ochre

Dollar Craze in Mink - they also do these in black and navy.  Love the navy as well but for the summertime I think these two are perfect.

These, Organza Shawl in light tan are slightly more conservative but in tan or black, perfect work summer shoe.  Great with peg leg cropped trousers and a structured shell top or fitted top with a swing jacket.

Shoe wise - I can't quite believe how much of a bargain the Curly Locks black patent wedge is.

This, to me anyway, looks like an exact replica of the well worn Kate Middleton Maddox shoe from LK Bennett.  Spot the difference?  That'll be £130 difference.

Neither float my boat - I can't quite get to grips with the casual raffia wedge and the very formal black patent wedge, but hey ho, Kate Middy thinks they're the mutts' nuts and they are hugely popular.  Hopefully someone will bag a bargain if they're up your street.  They also do them in a mushroom which I think work slightly better.

Having said all of that, (ok proof, if proof were needed that I am the most pathetically fickle person on the planet) I've just spied a pair of the Maddox in Rose Snake. Oh my god, I am almost tempted to get a proper job just so that I have an excuse to buy them.  Desperately trying to think if they'll work with a more casual wardrobe. Hubba hubba, I freaking love them.  (this is the problem of online research - I can actually convince myself in the space of an article that something has gone from gruesome to gorgeous.  Cut me through and I spell nothing but shallow)

So the upshot is, definitely check out the Clarks site if you haven't done before.  There are some other lovely shoes and great flat sandals (which I will return to if it ever stops bloogy raining)  Now I must go and switch off before I spent the monthly food budget (again) on shoes........

    1. They're just stunning aren't they - so gorgeously vintage. Not my style really boo sucks (and I really don't need to add another style to my burgeoning collection!) but in another life, I'd have them in every colour.

    1. I know!! Apparently a couple of years ago, judging by the ads that they've had in the glossies, but I thought they had a bit of work to do. So either they've upped their game or I'm getting old - either way, I am really looking forward to their A/W collection.

And thank you for the lovely comments! I've had it a couple of years and I have a love/hate relationship with it but am over the moon at the pairing with the distressed jeans and my new beloved Thelma wedges.

  3. See - you thought you were mad buying those wedge trainers and then the weather went all crap and suddenly they look totally appropriate. I actually had knee-length boots on today...sigh. Hoping that you buying sandals will signal a change back to more summer-like weather...no pressure

    1. I was just thinking yesterday how pleased I am that I bought the Thelmas. Complete marmite - I can actually see The Husband throw up a tiny bit in his mouth every time I wear them. Oops. I had proper boots on on Monday (deleted pic sob sob) when we went out for a Beacon lighting in the evening. We lasted an hour totally missing the fireworks and the beacon - was just freezing. Proper cold!

hmmm and unfortunately me buying sandals, coupled with us having put our gazebo up at the weekend = zero chance of good weather for at least the next week.

      I apologise!

  4. I have been amazed by clarks too recently! I do believe my store just has a big box of quality street and a sofa hiding in the back as I cannot remember the last time they had anything for me or any of the children in the right sizes......I think the staff just say they will look and then flop on the sofa and eat chocolate before eventually returning to say "sorry nothing in the right size"......But online is a different story- eventually gave in and bought thel liberty wedges and another pair of hasbeen look a likes! Well done clarks....and 20% off fab. BUT lk bennett has the snake print wedges on sale now....am dragging my daughter to the shop on Saturday. They look lovely!!!!!

    1. Noooooooooooooooooooo, not the snakeskin wedge on sale!! I just love it! Have zero reason to buy it - really doesn't work on me at all but I would like everyone who it suits to go and buy it as they are just gorgeous.

I may have to have a peak tomorrow when I take the eldest and the youngest shopping. In my head this seems like a good idea. In reality it will be car crash. Ho hum.

      Happy Shopping on Saturday!

  5. I got the MW code, but Anthropologie sent me nothing! How unfair.

I only really like Originals at Clarks. But the first pair are surprisingly nice!

    1. They're lovely aren't they! I have high hopes for them when they arrive tomorrow.

And bummer about Anthropologie. I'll be honest and didn't even look as otherwise I would have had a field day. Must. Not. Shop.....

  6. I too have recently discovered the Clarks range and think that they have done a grand job...not normally somewhere I would venture but I shall be keeping my eye out to see what they come up with over the next few seasons as if it is anything like what they have done recently then they will be well worth paying a visit to.

  7. Love the Joseph top, just the thing to disguise my ever increasing middle aged spread! I think I would have smashed the bloody iphone if that had happened to me, I always get my kids to do the syncing, I am bloody useless at anything like that! Have to say I am loving all the clarks shoes especially the yellow, they will go with my new house of fraser yellow dress or perhaps a bit insipid!

  8. Afraid I dont do Clarks but on the back of this post, did pop in today to check out the wedges. Sadly not in stock but will keep trying. They didn't even make the LK Bennett sale and now my size sold out! I feel like I really, really need them.

  9. I haven't ventured into Clark's before but I just had to have the tan scrappy wedges. As luck would have it they had them in my size and I can't tell you how many comments I've had wearing them! And no-one could guess where they came from
