A basic I never knew I needed.

And now of course, I have no idea how I lived without it.

The most basic thing in the world - a charcoal and off white longsleeved top.  I can literally think of a ton of outfits this will go with - an ingenious addition to my wardrobe that will make bring life to stuff in my wardrobe that I am beyond bored of wearing.  For just £15.99.

I love a stripe (no, really?) but didn't realise exactly how useful a charcoal and off white one would be.   Love the shape as well.  Perfect in its own right or for layering.

And here it is

There is of course a downside - it's rather an odd fit.  Slightly loose on the shoulders and tight on the arms.  Seriously, what is it with Zara this season?  I know I've been going to Body Pump more than I've done in the past but I'd hardly say I'd beefed up my arms much.  But boy are things snug on the sleeves in most things I've tried on in there.

I did also purchase the black jacquard coat that I've got on below, with the new top.   Unfortunately it's come away at the seams (something that is rather typical of Zara I've discovered over the years) so it's got to go back.  On further inspection, for £90, it's really shoddily made and so I won't be replacing.  I do have a pang though for a leopard print coat in a similar shape....... That Jaeger one is begging me to buy it but my bank account is saying nooooooo.  With this weather I should probably do a Spring coat round up.  God knows we could all do with some more layers.

  1. What a shame that the Zara jacket fell apart ... and good heavens! Is that a pic of you without a scarf, lol?!! And what about the & Other Stories scarf? Did you visit the shop? What did you think?

  2. Looking good Kat - shame about the Zara coat I really liked it. So wish I could wear a spring coat - there's a gorgeous tapestry one on Zara that I love but it's just too darn hot here.

  3. Someone recently told me Zaramade clothes with a 3 wear policy - have you heard this?I have a lot from Zara but admit some of it is pretty shoddy. Other pieces have lasted forever! Hx

  4. Your going out for drinks out fit it great, it both makes an effort and is completely nonchalant, I have tried the whole t shirt sequin jacket but still look like i am channeling Alexis Colby c.1984 as I have my own built in shoulder pads.

  5. I really love that Zara coat, was it really such a shoddy manufacture? Half tempted to run the risk and take it off to a seamstress to reinforce before I even wear it!
