Just an idea...

... that has been building and building... and won't go away.

Ok I will just premise this by saying, it's a very funny time in the season.  We've just had London Fashion Week (which clearly is about as relevant to what we, your average bod, wear on a day to day basis for the coming months as me speaking swahili to the husband) meaning nothing really drops into the shops and all the inspiration is randomly looking forward a gazillion months.

And then the shops are full of Spring stuff.  Guess what?  It's freezing.  It actually snowed here this morning.  Wasn't even raining snow - bright blue sky, frost everywhere and out of nowhere - as if to announce IT'S THIS COLD - it started to snow.

Who else is so achingly fed up of their winter wardrobes?  Me. Me.  Me.  Me.

So the plan for the next couple of weeks is to find a shed load of additions to our existing wardrobe to make the verrrrrrrry slow transition into Spring, let alone Summer, a lot easier.

Today white boots.

I figured if I just came straight out with it, you might not have to time to laugh.

It's not as bonkers a concept as you might think.  Ok so it might be... but I honestly think these could work.  I think we need to face the sad fact that the days of wearing sandals aren't round the corner for most of us.

I am also facing the fact that black is my thing.  And what goes really well with black?  Well that will be white.  I'm also having a love in with all things grey.  And... oh hello white - you work wonders there too.  Not to mention the old classic denim which I'm sure I'll come back to loving, especially if I throw some navy at it.  Perfect colour footwear?  I think you'll find white will cover that base too.

Sold?  Hell, I am.

Like I say, I have been toying with the idea for a couple of weeks, in fact maybe longer, since I papped a photo of my favourite white boots (first ones featured).  I thought perhaps I might go off them.  But no.  Still think they're the perfect solution to this tricky time and into the slightly warmer months (aka our entire Summer) as well.  Perfect with a skirt, cropped trousers, shorts (if you're brave enough - as far as I'm concerned you're on your own, but knock yourself out), tapered trousers and joggers.  Not forgetting culottes and dresses.

However it seems this is quite a novel concept as I can find exceptionally little on Pinterest when it comes to white ankle boots.

But what I have found I LOVE.

So it might not have escaped your notice that the ones above are all the Acne Jensens.  Which were (some would say ironically, the husband would roll his eyes and say REALLY?) the ones that I papped a couple of weeks ago from either Insta or a mag, I can't remember.  Who cares as for me, they are the epitome of shoe porn (and for the record, the only white ankle boots featured in outfits on Pinterest).

And so we begin again, the quest for a Jensen at a tenth of the price.  I didn't manage exactly a tenth last time when I was looking for black suede, but I did find my beloved Ash Miras for a third of the price which is a much palatable price point.

Let the quest begin..

Starting with the ultimate in luxury.

White Jensens from Acne Studio.  £370.  Only available at Net a Porter.  It's textured leather.  I could sleep with these.

Or... (just to throw a spanner in the works) they have a cream version at Acne Studios, again £370.

More flat now.  The budget isn't doing v well here.

Grenson Alice brogue chelsea boots in winter white £230

Another chunky number at Aldo (does anyone else get a Showaddywaddy flashback with these?  Just me?).  Leather for a great price.  To be honest, these are a great alternative to a sneaker...  And I think, very Acne too.  Definitely a cool Scandi vibe going on with these.

Evora Ankle Boots were £70 now £28

Better price again and a twist on a Toga Pulla/Chloe Susanna style buckle stud boot.  Going for the rock chick look.

Limited Edition PAIGE leather boots from Topshop £125

We're back to not exactly a cheeky treat - some by Isabel Marant.  If you're after a little heel and are looking to wear with a more colourful wardrobe, this with a camel heel is probably much more versatile.

Isabel Marant Drew leather boots £335

Going higher now with the heels but we're back down with the price.

Office Coven Side Zip boots were £80.00 now £44.80

We are going in the wrong direction with regards to heel height now but Nancy Sinatra would be frothing at the mouth.  These boots are made for walking, for sure.

Strut White Mid Heel Ankle Boots £160 (their use of "mid" not mine.. how old do you feel now?!  Mid, my arse.)

More kinky boots at Topshop.

Maria Flared Heel Chelsea Boots £79

And DARN these being so high.  I adore these, absolutely adore them.

Contrast Materials Ankle Boots from Mango £79.99

Another super high option but a great price.

Desarea Ankle Boots from Aldo were £110 now £44

However I have saved the bargain of the day for last.  Yes £11.... can you believe it?  And possibly my favourite pair after the Jensens.

White Block Heel Boots from New Look were £24.99 now £11

And that's it folks.  I am white booted out.  I have looked everywhere.  Although I am sure I have seen another pair somewhere but after hours of searching, I'm darned if I can find them.

Not my entire day wasted on the computer though.. oh no.  I did some exercise.  First time in almost two years (bar a pathetic attempt at a kettlercise DVD once or twice.  Literally once or twice).  Four girls, a personal trainer and some tools of torture.

Despite this being me at the end, I did survive.  And (with hindsight - NOT at the time can I point out) I enjoyed it.  Looking forward to next week.  Before anyone asks, yes these are Fashun New Balance trainers which I have zero other use for as I loathe them with a passion.  And yes, these are the husband's old cycling trousers that I dragged out of a drawer assuming they were mine.  As you can see, I'm all over the activewear.

I did recover though and get changed.  Super super pleased with the hair.  This is after 15 mins blowdrying with a dryer and the Big Hair and it normally never looks this good with no effort.  Absolutely zero product in it when normally I have to lather with half a bottle of oil.

Striped layering top - Me+Em
Onyx leather jacket - hush
Black ankle zip skinnies - Boden
Black Mira Boots - Ash
Grey cashmere scarf - Black

You see I think white boots would work perfectly with this outfit.  I also think they will be ridiculously useful come the Autumn.  Have I lost the plot?  Oh come, tell me you have the hankering too...

  1. Not sure about these... Some of the chunkier ones def make me think Showaddwaddy. And the higher ones make me think of Slade or Mudd in their heyday! But I DO like the Isabel Marant ones and also the Office ones, not sure I would get enough wear out of them though. But as always a great post! On a side note, my Jaeger blazer was attempted to be delivered today to my work address but it was lunchtime and the main doors were locked .... Did the driver ring the bell? Did he hell! Re-delivery due tomorrow!

    1. I've had this before been in the house, seen something come through the letterbox saying "sorry you weren't in, we've taken your parcel away". ERRR you didn't even knock on the door!! I'm not sure I'd get enough wear out of them to justify the Jensen prices (I know I wouldn't!) and I'm not sure the others would work as well so this might be a mid season madness dream I'll have to put to bed!

  2. Years ago, a man lived by us who was a used car dealer - little bit whoa, little bit whay. He had a penchant for undoing one too many buttons on his shirts and loved a bit of Frank Sinatra, blinging gold watches and a nice chain. He only ever wore beige or white shoes and I'm afraid that's all I see now when faced with white leather shoes/boots (trainers notwithstanding). I'm sure you will rock them though.

  3. Buy the £11 ones! They will look amazing with straight black or grey trousers & you will rock them. Then when they inevitably get trashed you won't have to be sad. I love the boldness & style of them. Salamander x

    1. Oh they're just too high for me and I know I wouldn't wear them - the heel height being the only issue as otherwise I love them!

  4. I have a pale grey pair of boots that I tend to wear in spring, but they are more western style than Chelsea boot, though. I would say the pale boots are useful in spring - buy the £11 ones!

Hair looks great, really good to hear the olaplex is good. My hair is very thick, dry and curly... I can literally put oil in mine too.

    1. Well i haven't got out of bed yet today so we'll see what it's like.. but that photo was taken after I'd tied it up to do my woeful gym session. The other reason I may not have got out of bed is because walking could be a challenge.. and I'd just remembered I was supposed to take the dog out. Bugger!

  5. I'm sure you will rock them, but they remind me too much of seedy blokes who call you darling and wear sovereign rings. And smell of Brut. Xx

  14. I love the idea of white boots but suspect my muddy country life and them are just too incompatible - that said I'm now envisaging cool 70s vibe outfits to go with...
