Now for all out luxury

That is still all out comfort.

This is the page you need to bookmark in case you don't feel your family have shown their true appreciation for you on Sunday.

These are pretty much the perfect gift and if you're lucky enough to have your mum still around, I can guarantee she will be over the moon with one of these.

The perfect scarf.  And what better excuse for an all out luxury, cashmere version.

Which, to be honest, can be used all year round.  I have been so lucky this year and have received so many lovely gifts for Mother's Day from companies (quite anxious about the day itself this year if I'm honest... I'm sure those who have lost their mum know what I mean?) but this is probably my favourite.  The husband of course thinks this gift giving by other people is The Best Thing Ever.  (not enough eye rolls for this one..  I have said best gift he can give me is a complete slap up Sunday lunch, cooked by HIM for the family plus a new board game.  All suggestions gratefully received as I officially can't play Game of Life, Cluedo or Monopoly Empire one more time).

Ideal for now seeing as it's still chuffing freezing.  Loving the sun today but oh my lord how cold is it still?  A scarf like this is still definitely needed on an every day basis at the minute and for what looks like the foreseeable future.  I will wear mine all the time.  These are also the perfect transitional piece for when it's too warm for a coat but too cool to just wear a jacket and nothing else.  Or I wear with a jumper instead of a jacket.  Plus the ideal travelling companion.  A cashmere scarf can even make a RyanAir flight bearable.  Along with the promise of vats of wine at the other end.  Flying without your children is also guaranteed to improve your flight.  So is flying BA.  First Class.  Which suddenly make a cashmere scarf look like the cheap option no?

This is the scarf that I received and shall be wearing a lot.

Cashmere Throw from Me+Em £248

Also love the navy breton throw version from Me+Em £248

But I have found lots of other options in varying different budgets.  Starting with one that isn't the cheapest but is a great reduction and a really unusual set of colours.  Would work as well with winter khakis, black and navy as it would in the Summer with denim (yes even blue...), whites, creams and beiges.

Two tone stripe cashmere scarf from Me & Kashmiere was £508 now £248

Cashmere blend in stripes at Topshop.

Broadwick Scarf by Unique at Topshop £125 (you'd need the jumper too no?...If you could arrange to have the legs thrown in as well, that would be handy).

In navy and black.. again £125 (and the dress?  Although personally I prefer the jumper)

Or the white and navy...

Black and white stripes now from Unmade at Selfridges - although they call is coal and snow which sounds so so much better.  I may have to change my monochrome vocabulary... This can also be personalised on the label (although that does take two weeks..).  Ok so when I was looking at his yesterday, the husband may have walked past and asked who would want a Newcastle United scarf for Mother's Day.... Father's Day is not looking good for him right now.

Unmade - White Label Cut & Twist Cashmere Striped Scarf £140

Stripe with a difference now at Jigsaw and pockets.  How cute is this?  I do fear, being tall that this might not work for me and irritatingly there isn't a pic of it "in use" but I love the idea.  Not to mention the colours.  I feel a need for pink coming on...

Scarf with Pockets from Jigsaw £59

Or the black and white again £59  Slightly less Magpies.

And if not a stripe, how about a check...

Aston wool and cashmere blend scarf from Isabel Marant was £150 now £60

AL311 gives you 20% off at The White Company.  This is a much lighter cashmere scarf, perfect for the Spring.

Cloud Cashmere Scarf from The White Company £125

The scarf that I've been wearing all Winter and still adore is the oversized grey cashmere scarf from Black.  This sold out but is back in stock and currently has 20% off.

Oversized Grey Cashmere Scarf from Black was £115 now £92

Colour for you now and even I love a coloured scarf.  Currently lusting over both a lime green and a pink chunky jumper so these two colours are check check for me.

Lime Cashmere Scarf from Pure Cashmere was £159.99 now £49.99 at TK Maxx

And in a pink again now £49.99

Leaving the cashmere aside but still a knit.
Green Thomas Stripe Wool Scarf from Whistles £120 (pre 25% off.. WH25SS16)

More Summery scarves now which, due to their size make them eminently wearable now.

hush Check Scarf £49.99

And a Tesla blue print version again from hush £49.99

I'll cover more Summery scarves shortly - when the weather actually stays above zero for longer than 6 hours.   But in the meantime, these are the perfect Mother's Day present, even if you have to buy it yourself.  I'm still hanging out for lunch and a cup of tea in the morning.  Before we go to rugby.  Still got to go to rugby.  That's just cruel isn't it?  Although I am told that some women really love the whole touchline experience.  Apparently.  Who knew?  (grouchy old bag alert - sorry, should have pre-empted this paragraph with that... Sorry sorry sorry.  I have TRIED to love it.  I don't mind it, but I have to admit.  Still don't love it.  Actually that's not even true.  It's not even so much that I don't mind it.  I can tolerate it.  There.  I know you're not supposed to admit that and I am truly envious of those who love watching their boys roll around in mud whilst standing in sideways rain but.... yup, that mothering gene missing chez nous. *prepares to be shot down in flames*).

Here I am in my scarf today and yet another pair of faithful old joggers.  These were my £10 bargains from the Topshop sale although I am toying with the idea of having the elasticated cut off to make them more peg leg as - can't believe I'm typing this - I think they might be too long.  Genuinely something I've never come across before.

Grey tweed joggers - Topshop
Black Essential Roll Neck - Cocoa Cashmere
Black blazer - Me+Em
Black and grey scarf - Me+Em

I may have to take a winter weather hiatus and just look at some Spring options as well as the ever so random when I do it, beauty blog...

  1. For me the Sunday rugby isn't really about watching the boys play and standing in the cold. It's about catching up with the other parents and a good old gossip and a couple of glasses wine in the club house. Or if I'm driving a catch up over a cup of tea and a bacon roll.

    1. Funnily enough this is why we go early so we can get coffee and bacon rolls. Actually it's so we can get a parking space as I have coffee and bacon rolls at home (although Di at the clubhouse makes a MEAN sandwich which hands down beats mine and the brie and bacon is The Best..) but I do love catching up with people before hand.

Our club is SO so so so so SO big (think 80+ in each age group.. welcome to the pushy home counties says a fully paid up member of the club) that I just find it too big and all my friends are super spread out amongst all the other age groups (I have a random age group boy that so happens to be *my responsibility* if that makes sense??!)

But I never ever EVER drink there (which is ironic considering what a lush I am...). The one thing I really don't like doing is hanging around afterwards. But the husband really likes it and the kids (bar the daughter who doesn't at all!) love it, so we do it and I hoover pork scratchings ( I know I know - guilty pleasure..) and sparkling water. I am ALL the fun. Not.....

  2. I'm thinking your babies might be a young and impressionable still for Cards of Humanity? Fun though!!
Have you tried old school Yahtzee?? I seem to remember that being a hoot?
Love the scarves. You haven't seen a yellow one anywhere on your searches have you??

    1. OMG at 43 I die of embarrassment playing Cards of Humanity. I fear a call from Social Services may be on the cards were I to crack it out post the Sunday Roast.

I was such a cretin that I could never master Yahtzee... it's dice based isn't it? (numbers were never my thing). I will look into it though, thank you.

Hmm I haven't really looked at summer scarves yet so haven't seen a yellow one yet. It's such a shame that hush don't repeat their yellow scarf year on year on year!

    2. I wanted a yellow one and have been super disappointed that Hush haven't repeated theirs. I have however found one on the Mango site ( was one of my Mother's Day treats to myself) it is an orangey yellow ( I think) and has a white pattern in it. It's obviously a lighter fabric so will be great come spring. £19.99 and on its way as we speak

    3. Didn't look at Mango scarves - will do a Summer scarf blog shortly. Right now though I am in the need of full on luxury warmth still! Scarf sounds gorgeous xx

  3. Oh you lucky thing being gifted that Grey & Black Me & Em Scarf? It's just gorgeous. A classic for sure and totally wasted on good ole Ryan air.😂I love your Topshop joggers? I so love a bargain. Mothers Day is hard for those who have lost their Moms. One day at a time (as they say but so true)
I'll be spending Mother's Day pampering some moms at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Then it will be back to dinner with my two quite charming teenage daughters bickering and driving me to WINE. I love them dearly though. 😆😆 Xx

    1. Oh how how how lovely are you spending your mother's day being lovely to others? Two teenage daughters? To be fair, I see why being out of the house with other mothers might be preferable! Enjoy your wine and your day (I bet they don't bicker ALL the time). I've just said to my three that my best mothers' day gift would be them emptying the dishwasher for a week. Oh and coffee and almond croissants on Sunday morning.

  4. Love love love scarves and I may have ordered myself one or two as Mother's Day gifts to myself! (Only from Mango but one is a leopard one and I'm missing a leopard scarf in my life)
As for actual gifts, I know I have something lovely from Emma Bridgewater from my daughter and a bottle of my favourite red wine! My eldest son has treated me to a pair of Kurt Geiger boots from the Shoeaholic website ( he doesn't know it yet!) and my middle one is away at uni and my gift will probably be to send HIM some cash as he's run out again or something!

I LOVE Emma Bridgewater. All my crockery is hers. What's your favourite pattern?

    2. I love Black Toast. It suits my taste but I have to say it's all beautiful, like the blue stars too. And the new Wallflower range is so pretty, not my usual style at all but it's so pretty I'm craving a mug!

    3. Oh great taste. My favourite is figs which they have discontinued again. I love black toast and marmalade next.. I'm over the bright floral ones actually - I have spots, hearts, stars, chickens (what was I thinking - complete random post baby number 3 moment..!!), hellebore (husband loves, my least favourite),

  9. One board game we all love is 'Ticket to Ride' - there are a few versions (we have the European version) and you can buy extension packs for different countries and regions. It's great fun, and suitable for all ages. Gorgeous scarves, but too warm for me in Summer still here in SA - 29 degrees today, and very humid! No rugby for us at the moment, but my son's school has their 'Big Walk' tomorrow - he has to walk 25kms (!), while the High School pupils walk either 55 or 80kms. Thankfully, his Dad will be walking with him, but my penance is to act as a Marshall, in the middle of a sugar cane field, in the blazing sun. Oh joy!!!!

  15. I was sat in hospital with my darling mum when you wrote about losing your own mum. Sadly my mum passed away a few days before Christmas. One of the last things mum said to me was she wanted to make sure that I got myself a new scarf from her. She said she would like it to be something pretty. I have put off my search as it has seemed too big a shopping experience to deal with. I don't comment on blogs but have considered asking your advice many times on my quest for that scarf. Just wanted to say thank you. I think a Hush scarf would be just a perfect last gift from mum. I hope you have a lovely day on Sunday, as I an sure I will with my three lovely kids x

    1. h Claire. I don't know what you to say but then you know that. The hush scarves are beautiful, lovely quality and a lovely size and I think are the perfect gift from your mum. Thank you so much for letting me know and I wish there something else I could say to make things better but I know there isn't. Have a lovely lovely day on Sunday. I'll be holding mine extra tight (much to their consternation..!)

  16. This blog upsets me! I had a cashmere scarf/blanket that I picked up in Harvey Nicholls sale a few years ago. It had been £500+ and I got it for - wait for it - £9.99!!! Alas, the dog got hold of it one day and bit little holes in it all over (in case you are wondering - yes it is me whose dog ate my sunglasses too) I swear they hate me lol!. A game that doesn't take too long and mine loved many moons ago was "Pay Day"! Easy to grasp and they can play on their own - I mean together, without you - if you know what I mean! Yvonne x

    1. OMG I may have to had to *lose* my dog by now... Ours has a predilection for headphones.. but only the expensive sort that go over the top of the head.. obviously not the crappy Apple in the ear ones of which we have about 1000 sets..

Haven't heard of Pay Day, will look it up, thank you.. (and yes, ones they can play without me are THE BEST) xxx

    2. Ha ha, not heard of Pay Day because either a. my kids are more than 20 years older than yours and b. they probably don't make it anymore! Pity if they don't because it was quite do-able! ps it wasn't the same dog that did both deeds, they all (I have 3) have at sometime or other done something quite unforgivable! Have a lovely Mothers Day! xx Yvonne

  17. I love scarfs, and think you can never have too many, my biggest problem is how to store them so i can see them all at a glance, currently trialing my latest brain wave for storing so far so good. We got Logo for christmas at a knockdown price in WHS from the Dogs as a family present ( not thats not a typo, we get a family gift of a board game and new jigsaw every year from them!!)Why do i start these things, it is now expected. Anyway before you are phoning someone to come and take me away for a rest :) back to Logo, one of the best games we have had. played it non stop over christmas and many more times since. Has the whole family in fits of laughter, first time we have had a game in a long time that we all loved and appealed to all ages. XX
