You'll wonder how you lived without these.

Good old spring jumpers.

So I bang on about these a lot.  For good reason.  They are one of the most super versatile things that you will have in your wardrobe.  I have been collecting these for the past couple of year and wear the ones from a couple of years ago as much as I wear my new ones.  All hail

There are a couple of varieties which I think are a complete wardrobe staple.  For me - it's a crew neck.  It can be either fitted, with a gathered hem (so slightly looser in the body) or a boxier shape.  What it can't be is any lower than a waist band.  Finishing at the top of your hip.  Any lower and you're talking about a different sort of jumper.

For that reason, I don't tend to wear these with skinnies unless I layer them under a shirt (and there in lies the beauty - three paragraphs in and we've already doubled their functionality) as it just doesn't suit my shape and I feel too exposed.  I have to breath in a lot for a start and frankly, sod that.  I'm so much more into looser clothes.  Until I get really into my new training sessions and end up with a body like Elle McP (let's not hold our breath mind).

Starting with one that I've tried and is the most gorgeous colour ever.  And fit.  And now on offer in the Me+Em mid season sale.

The Perfect Crew Neck Jumper was £68 now £47

and in the Biscuit £68 (don't forget your 15% off with this one - code is BUY15 off everything not in the sale.)

In navy

Striped is also an option.  I snuck it in here as 15% off cashmere is really worth it.

Cashmere Box Jumper £198

Then we have a perennial favourite of mine - good old Uniqlo.  This season, the women's jumpers are looser on the hem than in previous years and definitely makes them different from the men's versions.  Both are on special offer now for a limited time.

Extra Fine Merino Crew Neck Jumper £14.90 from Uniqlo  As you can see - perfect for layering.  A plethora of other shades online.

And v neck version from £24.90 now £14.90  again colours for all tastes online.  I reckon they must have about 12 different options.

Or my personal favourites which are the men's versions from Uniqlo.

And they also are on special offers and this season they have a much better selection of shades than usual.  Including this lovely pale blue which I'm rather taken with.. (as well as pink and yellow).

Extra Fine Merino Crew Neck Jumper from Uniqlo was £24.90 now £19.99  I take the small which is perfect.  I have the navy and the black and wear them all the time.

And of course, one of my favourite places for knitwear - hush.  And... shhh but I've got another 10% off code for you.  MARCHSS16.  With free shipping and free returns.  Off everything.

Starting with my current favourite which I'm wearing today.  The linen crew jumper in champgagne £49.50 pre discount.  This is slightly looser than some of the others but still fine enough to fit under a blazer or biker (as proven in the photo below).

Also available in the poppy.

They also do a V neck version - adore this shade of blue.  It could even make me fall back in love with blue denim... maybe..

Linen V Jumper £49.50 pre discount  They also do this in a capri blue which is like a turquoise and a fuchsia.

However this is top of my wishlist at the moment (along with some of their summer dresses).  This is a fabulously fine, soft knit - fitted and just perfect for with joggers, culottes, wide legs and peg legs.  And shorts.  And even with skirts.  YES SKIRTS!  This with a black leather skirt would be the perfect transitional night out ensemble.

Camille jumper in bubblegum £49.50 from hush pre 10% discount

But the bargain of the day has to be this one from M&S.  I can personally vouch for this - well, the feel and the fit anyway, as my friend has it and it's amazing.  You would never know it only cost £15.  Cotton mix as well - feels fabulous and the colour pink is gorgeous.  I'm going to assume that the yellow one is as good.

Crew Neck Jumper from M&S £15 in soft yellow.  Now ignore the fact that M&S call it a swing fit as it isn't swingy in the slightest.  It's a lovely close but not clingy fit.

And the pink that my friend has.

And classic navy.  For £15.

These sorts of jumpers really do work for me all year round.  I layer them during the day in the Winter months and wear them as a t-shirt substitute in the Spring.  Seeing as we had such a gorgeous Summer last year, I got more than my fair share out of them during July and August as well.  Are you already a fan or is there something that works for you instead of one of these?  I would love to be more of a shirt person but am too bone idle to iron.

And here I am in one of the many I have.

Linen crew neck jumper - hush
Khaki trousers - Current/Elliott from Quattro Rish
Peep toe chestnut boots - Kurt Geiger
Chocolate leather jacket - All Saints
Brown suede bag - Coccinelle.

Limping towards the end of the week but just to say - feeling fortunate that we are and thinking of those families and the people in Brussels who have had such a terrible day and now have a difficult future to face.

  2. Love your khaki trousers but unfortunately too expensive for me. Any chance you could do a trying on session, I'm about the same height but find getting the right length tricky. Many thanks

  6. I have the bubblegum pink top from Hush... Was one of my spring buys when the new collection launched. So far have restrained myself and only ordered 3 new items from Hush but I love ALL their stuff, will no doubt be going back and ordering more! Thanks for the code ...

  7. Oh bother nought all four M&S ones such a good price. I did buy the pink Hush sweater but returned it as the colour was somewhat subdued compared to photo on their web site. Also sizing still generous despite them stating it is slim fit.

  9. Spring jumpers are perfect! I bought a greeny lemon (is that even a colour?) cashmere one from m&s in the sale for £29, I think because it was labelled size 8, but was definitely bigger. Perfect for cool days, but colourful enough for spring. I might need to go back as they had quite a few coloured cashmere jumpers in the sale in store...

Such awful news in Brussels. We have a friend who works there and narrowly missed getting on the metro. It really brings it home to you.

  10. Your jacket is lovely - the neck detailing is ace. Thank you for the Hush discount code. Do you know when it's valid until? Another week until pay day, pay! Obviously, I'd have more cash if I'd decided not to keep both pairs of Toga boots. (They really are v different - even the husband said so!!!)

  12. Love these sweaters, not sure if I can justify another piece of Knitwear, although I am planning on having a wardrobe clear out over Easter, so there may be room....
My faves are from Boden, marie sixtine and Cos.

    3. I have to say I find it hit and miss. And (like Cos) you absolutely have to go and try the stuff on! But if you get something great, it's GREAT!

    4. I tend only to buy Knitwear and accessories from Cos, the quality is great (cashmere, merino wool, silk, quality cotton), but everything else is not made for vertically challenged individuals with books!
I have a cashmere sweater I bourght in Paris about eight years ago, gets worn every winter (great for really cold weather), and it's still going strong.

  14. I'll bet you won't guess what muscle in your body is the muscle that gets rid of joint and back pain, anxiety and burns fat.

This "hidden primal muscle" is in your body and it will boost your energy levels, immune system, sexual function, strength and athletic performance when developed.
