Is there no end to the sparkle?

This time we're on to the statement jacket.  Which I've done before a while ago, but I make no apologies for another one, as I love 'em.  We're clearly running out of time for merriment and dressing up before Christmas (I am beyond smug that I've paced myself this year and don't feel like death warmed up come the middle of December.  Beyond smug) but there is still New Year to look forward to.

And beyond.  I am one of those freaks of nature who actually doesn't mind January.  Primarily as it's my birthday at the end of the month which gives me something to look forward to.  And as others are normally weeping into their herbal tea come the last weekend of Jan, we normally manage to have a pretty good shindig of sorts.  For which a little statement jacket would fit the bill entirely.

I also find they're the perfect addition to a wardrobe coming into Spring.  So you don't want to go out in a big coat, but it's too cold for anything skimpier - a small jacket is a winner.  They're great for lunch as well, with faded jeans and a more casual tee underneath.  Win win win win.

So without further ado, as I have presents to wrap.  Oh yes, I thought I was being clever by doing most of them early.   Which I was but there are still more.  God I hate wrapping presents.  I thought it was one of those jobs, when I was little, that I would LOVE doing when I was older - I'd have a big glamorous basket of reams of ribbons and cards, all matching to the thick, luxurious wrapping paper, maybe even a personalised wax seal (I think I saw one in Past Times when I was much younger and thought it was the most impressive thing ever.  Yeah right).... Well that will be a no.  A big, fat, not on your life, No.  I do it with zero good grace, I loathe spending money on wrapping stuff and am generally the Grinch when it comes to the job.  And breathe....  Clearly I don't mind the shopping bit.

Right.  Jackets.

Firstly this one which I caught sight of originally on Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model, eons ago and assumed it was D&G or some equivalent much more expensive brand.  But no!  I think this is amazing for the money.

Embellished jacket from Miss Selfridge

I love the fact that this one is navy.  Really really love this.  I actually think would look even better dressed down.

Navy striped embellised trim jacket from River Island

Another gem from River Island.  Perfect for Spring - for both day and night.  This is on my list of things I shall be buying if I get nothing in the sale...

Grey Boucle Jewelled Fluro Trim jacket

A true beauty from Topshop.  This is a real investment piece (although not at proper traditional "investment" prices - or is that just me who sells that as a concept to The Husband?)  Dressy enough to wear to a wedding.  But I'd be just as happy in the pub on a Saturday night with jeans, sandals and a tee.

Topshop Pearl Embellished Jacket

Another beaded wonder, this time from Monsoon.

Vasco Trophy Jacket from Monsoon

Persian Peacock Embellished Jacket from Monsoon  This one is much more unstructured than the rest and verging on shirt like.  Again, perfect for Spring nights but also very wearable for the day.

This is a slightly random one but it's a super bargain in the sale if anyone is after a navy number.
Navy Sequin Boucle Jacket from Red Herring at Debenhams

And finally a couple of more expensive numbers but I honestly thing a good quality sequin jacket will last you for years.  I've had my Jaeger Boutique one now for three years and it's as good as the day I bought it.  And comes out every year.

Gestuz Band-Ja Olive Sequin Jacket from Van Mildert which I've never heard of (the online retailer not Gestuz) but it's now half price (only in small sizes unfortunately) at £126

Caine Light Grey Jacket from Gestuz at Coggles down from £330 to £99!  In Large only.

Now a post about jackets wouldn't be complete without a nod to Zara.  They do jackets well. They do jackets really really well.

Zara Long Sequinned blazer

Velvet Biker Jacket with Embroidered Pearls

Printed Sequinned Cardigan from Zara

Studded Velvet Jacket from TRF at Zara

Lastly another sale number from Baukjen - the newly branded non maternity part of Isabella Oliver.
Kate Sequin Jacket from Baukjen

I can't promise that this will be my last statement jacket post.  In fact, I can pretty much guarantee there'll be another one in the Spring.

A round up of what I've been wearing in this miserable weather.  An umbrella has been my friend.

  2. Ooh there are some lovely jackets there, the Baukjen in particular. I am like a moth to a flame (actually more like a magpie to something glittery but hey-ho!)

  6. Hi
Wow! The jumper dress you are wearing is a real eye catcher. I haven't seen one like it before, really different. Looks really good. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for one.
