Rock Up in Red

I don't usually run competitions but I was delighted to be asked to be involved in the British Heart Foundation's Rock Up in Red campaign.  On 1 February 2013, to kick off National Heart Month, the British Heart Foundation (BHF) is asking the great British public to Rock Up In Red and join the fight against heart disease.

Whether it’s dying your hair red, donning a red tie or a red scarf or going all out and rocking a top to toe red outfit, the BHF is urging people across the UK to organise a Rock Up In Red day at work, school or in your local community to raise funds that will go directly towards vital research, support and care for those suffering with heart and circulatory disease.

A cause really close to my heart having lost two grandparents to heart disease.  Heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer kills one in six men and one in nine women and is responsible for almost 80,000 deaths in the UK each year, an average of 220 people each day.

Radley are also joining the party and have donated a limited edition cross body bag for the Competition Prize.

To enter the Competition it couldn't be simpler.  If you could email me (doesmybumlook40@gmail.com) a photo of yourself dressed up in red - doesn't have to be head to toe, can be an outfit, accessory or hairstyle - a nod to the theme Rock Up in Red - and (or I can do it for you!) upload to Instagram with the hashtags #rockupinred #dmbl40 (so I can find you!).  If you could also post your photos to Twitter with the same hashtags, that would be great.  The more the merrier - it really is such an important cause.  The competition is open from today and closes on Friday 18th Jan.  The prize will be awarded to my favourite Rock up in Red photo.

Another way to get involved (and to get the best usage out of your red outfit!) is to also encourage your colleagues, friends or pupils to wear something red, have fun and make a donation.  A workplace, group or organisation can Rock Up In Red and give £2 each – or schools can do it for £1 per pupil.  I think I'm going to have a Coffee Morning with everyone encouraged to Rock Up in Red and make a donation.  There will be pics.

To make it all a tiny bit easier for us (and a great excuse to shop) I'll be doing a red themed post in the next couple of days.

Off to plan my outfit!

Below are T&C's.  Do email me with any further questions.
