Actually am fed up with wet feet. Forget the sandals.

What on earth is the point?!  When the foreseeable future, according to the weather forecasters, is essentially pants.  Unless you're a duck.  Or in the ark building business.

For those of us who are longing to get our summer togs out, the news is depressingly awful.

However I have a solution.  Oh yes and the best thing about this cunning plan is that it can fall under the guise of an "investment purchase".  For those scant few days in the UK when we can legitimately wear sandals without getting frost bite or raisin toes from the rain, then yes, something fabulously summery is wonderful.  Ditto those precious days we have abroad  (oh and as an interjection - fear not all those who were "worrying" that they wouldn't get to partake in my massively shallow holiday wardrobe panic this year - there is a rather glamourous girl's weekend in the planning to somewhere hot and glorious.  Hoo.  Ray.)

But realistically, a shoe is a good idea in this country.  Something to keep your feet dry.

Now I know I was all about the brogue at the beginning of the season.  I still like a brogue - haven't found one to suit me enough yet to justify purchasing one (well two obviously.  But just one pair)  I have decided, however (and yes, we all know that this is for this week only) that I LOVE a loafer.

In my head, thanks to my friends at Boden (who I don't actually think even do the sort of loafer that I'm considering.  They should.....), I am half way through sorting my A/W wardrobe.  At least one look of it anyway.  Which doesn't really seem that inappropriate given the fact I have the heating on and am still needing scarves, jackets and boots on a day to day basis.

I'm thinking bistro crops (in the meantime, I want to team with straight leg dark indigo jeans turned up), 60's style jumpers, the boiled wool cocoon style big button coat and a pair of wonderful loafers.  It somehow makes this hideous weather slightly (ever so ever so slightly) easier to bear.

I've chosen my favourites from the list below (they're not all for me).  Ooh and it has to be a tassel loafer.  And for me, I love a fringe.  In for a penny, in for a pound (but not a penny loafer - I'm all about the tassel)

Miles Tassel Loafer from ASOS for £40. Leather.  These are fabulous in the oxblood.   Will go with every colour.

Seth Tassel Loafer from Schuh Manmade.....£40  Have to say I like the patent aspect and the sturdiness to them.

Gimlet Whistles Loafer - £125 from Atterley Road  Gorgeous.  Oversized tassels.  What's not to love?

Angelica Slice from Clarks £39.99  These are perfect for those who are looking for something a little less masculine.  A more delicate loafer.  I'm for full on chunk personally.

Limited Black Tassel Loafers from New Look £49.99  A great buy if you don't want a fringe - they look like beautiful leather.

And in tan  £49.99

Lexie from Carvela in White patent leather  £95  Slightly higher heel, perfect for the summer, again without my beloved fringe which I'm sure most people won't like anyway!

Chester Tassel Loafer from R&B £155   These are cream of the crop for me.  The texture of them, the patent, croc and suede all together make up such an interesting shoe.  I have developed a rather unhealthy obsession with all things navy and these are the most stunning shade.  I think they ooze class.

And in nude £155  Again.  Yum.  Perfect for now.  And for Autumn.

Keith Tassel Loafers in White from Topshop - £65 These are far more suited for the summer so a more than legitimate reason to purchase.  Will look great with pretty much most trousers and, as can be seen here, perfect with a skirt/dress as well.

Odeon Women's Elpida £30  MARMITE warning.  The sturdy sole seems to be making a huge comeback for A/W this year.  Judging by the fashion glitterati at the Press Days that I've been seeing, it's all about the oversized sole, chunky shoe.  Team with tights, a cocoon coat and you're off (clearly something under the coat - please god don't let me start a rumour that fashion royalty are also flashers)

Leopard Print Mocassins with tassels from Zara - £49  Whilst I love the R&B ones, I will say that it's these that have stolen my heart.

And lastly the bargain of the day from Office.  The Extravaganza Loafer in black  Now these should normally be £65.  But thanks to the lovely peeps at Grazia, this week there is 25% off.    Voucher in Grazia, valid from 14 to 20 May.  Can only be used in store unfortunately.

I love the contrast of the tan sole with the black leather.  Actually makes it a lighter looking shoe, even more ideal for those slightly warmer days.

Love them in the olive - really unusual and I think looks a lot more expensive than the £65 price tag (especially with the 25% off)

Even more summery - in the off white.

And here's what I've been wearing the last couple of days.  Sounds incredibly pathetic but this was one of my favourite outfits that I've worn in weeks.

  3. Loafers are just so desperately ugly, think I'd rather get wet feet.

  4. I just can't love loafers. They look to have been touched by the ugly stick.
The Boden bistro crops arrived yesterday and are good. Navy spot ones which look good with a fitted white shirt tucked in and leopard print heels for work. I am also envisaging them with a hot pink vest and some bone white heels from Clarks. If. Summer. Ever. Turns. Up.

  6. I'm with The Find Boutique Bootcamp - I would look awful in these, like a bad extra for an episode of The Bill (if it were still on TV that is!)

  7. I think this kind of loafers can only look cool on the very young, in that ironic look-at-me-I-am-wearing-old-lady-shoes. For the rest of us it is total Frump City.
