A hunka munka chunka love

In the form of cardigans.  So I thought long and hard about the sleeveless cardigan and I've eliminated The White Company one as I tried it on in store today and it's "ok".  It's very nice but if I'm honest, I don't want very nice.  I want wow, love, amazing.  Nice for £100+?  Nah.  It was too short (clearly it's not me who's too tall.....)

I am seriously contemplating the Eileen Fisher one - it's a complete classic and I think I'd get a lot of wear out of it even though it is eye wateringly expensive.

And then I think, hmmm when I say "lots of wear" do I mean lots or do I mean some?  Would it not be better to think (slightly) logically and add sleeves to the equation?

The answer is definitely not a wrap.  You can keep these.  I might come back to them later in the season but for me, they need to be a huge scarf or a have arm holes in.  Not the fashionista version of a travel rug.  I know that will be a hugely unpopular statement as lots of people love them (and I have to say I was almost almost persauded by the Boden one) but they're not for me (I will qualify this by saying "at the moment" as we all know I will have one in every shade imaginable by Halloween)  Right now I feel I'm one step away from selling heather in them.

However a cardigan - hell yes.  And whilst I've poo pooed the wrap, I will admit there is more than a whiff of Cat Weasel about some of these but I don't care.  I love 'em.  I would have one of each if I could.

They need to be chunky, they need to be oversized and I actually don't mind if they're a rather whacky colour or even with a print (no I haven't been drinking)

Needed to go and pay for the 11 yr old's birthday party today (a Lush party - I will don a peg for my nose for the entire 90 mins....) and whilst I was there, seeing as there is 20% (SEP15EM) off at M&S and I'd spied some interesting ones on line, thought I'd go and have a quick trying on session.

Was slightly than surprised at how good they were.  For bargain prices (even more so with the 20% off)

My tip for all of them is to size up.

Open Front Colour Block Hooded Cardigan £45 - love the hood on this - I'm wearing an XL.

Fluffy Longline Cardigan with wool from Autograph £59 I've got a 14 on.

Textured Cardigan with scarf from Per Una £59 - I tried this on in a Large.

I did also try on two on that I have spent the best part of 30 minutes trying to navigate the M&S site to find.  Big fat fail on my part......  Both highly recommended.

But on the upside I did find one that I think would also be amazing - perfect for those with a love of monochrome....didn't see this one in store at all.

Bold Monochrome Striped £45

I did remember as I was walking past it today that years ago, I got some amazing chunky big knit cardigans from Monsoon.  I won't lie - I rarely go in there but it's probably worth a look as they did have some interesting dresses..... and lovely bits of knitwear (and some gorgeous beach cover ups, the relevance of which was totally lost on me but my bestie is off to Oz soon so at least someone will make use of them - to be honest, I might stock up for next year....).  And a couple of great cardigans/coatigans....

Camilla Cocoon Cardigan in grey £69 - I've got the Large on here.

Untitled

Josefina Jacquard Coatigan £89 - I have the 12 on here   This is a navy.  The Shop Assistant was raving about this one and I think if you wear a lot of navy then great.  For me, it's just slightly on the busy side (which is ironic if you see what's coming later....)

Kosmo Blanket Coat in blue £89 I have it on in the medium here - it's very large.  Another navy number.

But finishing with my find of the day.  Like I said, no I haven't been drinking and yes I genuinely ADORE this.  Needless to say the colours on the website don't remotely do it justice.  It is honestly stunning - rich, vibrant coral with an amazing blue.  I'm ordering it.

Open Front Patchwork Waterfall Jackets £45 I have it on in an XL

So do you all absolutely hate it?  I appreciate it's completely marmite but with the 20% off - it's so so reasonable... I'm ridiculously tempted.  But I do have a bit of an arsenal of random coats and jackets going on and I need NO more.

Having said that, I did buy a practical grey and black one.  Ridiculously practical but I tried it on first about a month ago in Zara.  Thought I'd have a look at it online this morning - SOLD OUT.  And there was one left in Zara.  I couldn't not buy it, could I?

Untitled

Clearly embracing the black and am getting my money's worth from these sneakers.  I can't tell you how much I love them (and how often people ask me about them!)

Untitled

Black Jumper - Uniqlo
Black skinny jeans with side zip - Boden
Leopard print coat - Fenn Wright Manson
Black Mario bag - Jerome Dreyfuss
Superstar sneakers - Golden Goose

So I'm off to Cote for dinner with the family for the 11yr old's birthday supper before The Husband goes to the Rugby Club for apparently something important.... I'm off to pick Pitch Perfect 2 to watch on DVD with the kids - I know who I think is winning....... (plus I have champagne and nibbles.. *punches air*)

  1. I've never really got on board with the sleeveless cardigan thing. To me a cardigan is to keep me cozy and warm and, I'll be honest, I want the sleeves! I got a black one from H&M the other week and haven't had it off. it's the perfect transition piece. Lorraine x

  2. Sleeveless cardigans seem to be everywhere at the minute but I just don't think they're for me. Surely the best part of a cardigan is the long snuggly sleeves?! Big fat coatigans I can get on board with though. I love the marmite M&S one it looks amazing on you! x

  5. Zara one wins for me. I shall be bypassing long cardis with and without sleeves this winter, opting for snuggly jumpers instead xx

    1. Well you are v kind. I just loved the colours of it and it feels so so much more expensive than £36!! (which is what it is with the discount) So chuffed. You can't get a good jumper for that.

  7. Is the Zara coat herringbone? Love it and found one online which is 79.99 described as as maxi coat. Would that be the one please? Love the burgundy M&s cardigan, feeling a trip there tomorrow may be essential!

    1. No it's not. It's just a grey/black knit. And it's only £59.99. I have just searched every which way on the Zara site but can't find it at all. It was there - it's gone now. It's called Zara Knitif that helps?

  11. Ooh love the blue and coral one. And the navy and rust(?) one! I have a cape/wrap from last year and nine times out of ten I end up wrapping it round my neck like a giant scarf. Luckily it's thin so it works. x

    1. Definitely navy and rust. Yes, I have a blanket wrap thing that I wear as a scarf too. It's the shaped ones that make me look hunchbacked I can't do.

  12. Found this one on Zara which is so similar to the one you have on, Would love to know if the fur collar is detachable. http://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/knitwear/view-all/coat-with-large-lapel-c733910p2830589.html
I brought this one from Plumo a few weeks ago which you also featured a few weeks ago as well. Had a 15% off code which made it even better, must admit it was a bit out of my comfort zone and will also be a marmite option for most but i love it. http://www.plumo.com/products/Autumn-cardigan.html. the open front patchwork one looks like it has been starched within a inch of its life on the model, looks like cardboard but on you it looks lovely.

    1. I have to say I am STILL toying with the idea of the fairisle one.... but the M&S one for £36 I might have to keep... and the black and grey one from Zara, I'll wear as a coat so..... (OMG last year I was obsessed with coats, this year it's going to be cardigans. Holy hell.....)

  13. Glad I'm not alone in holding my breath as I walk past the door of Lush. Good luck! Never enter Monsoon but you've tempted me with those gems. I can kid myself I live in a place where I need to wrap up warm.

    1. Well the good news it that Lush Oxford Street is a revelation. LOVED IT. It's so big that the smell is very much diluted with it being so open plan. Gorgeously lovely and helpful staff - we were in there for over an hour. A little girl who could not be happier.

Just fyi, if this sort of thing concerns you, but whilst perusing Ebay, I noticed somebody had used one of your blog photos to advertise a pair of trews: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zara-Green-Trousers-with-Paint-Marks-bloggers-size-UK-8-10-34-S-/271988713613?hash=item3f53ca688d

  15. Finally got my mits on the 'marmite' Cardi today. I totally love it and can see myself wearing it loads. The styling in the M&S image is awful, it looks nothing like it on. Thanks Kat, wouldn't have bought this without your blog :-)
