Never let it be said I'm not fickle

Although I am going to pre-empt this by saying, I'm not sure I ever stated I was NEVER wearing blue denim again... just that the lifelong love affair had waned.

And it's been a long time that we've been apart actually.  Since I had to capsule pack (aka "just packing" seeing as the very definition of packing is putting stuff in a suitcase ergo you can't take that much..) last August to go on holiday and took not one iota of blue denim with me, I have never really worn it.

The odd pair of jeans maybe but I would go so far as to say I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've worn them since then.

Until yesterday.  So yesterday - two things happened.  I wore my dungarees (albeit they are black).  And I was looking for something to wear last night for a casual party at our house...

I prayed for inspiration and it was the Gods of Blue Denim who answered.  JEANS.  Clearly I needed to be Forever in Blue Jeans (am I the only who, when young,  thought it was A Revver in Blue Jeans?  I've no idea what I thought a revver was, but I did know I thought I'd quite like to be one..)

So taking the combo of dungarees during the day and my blue jeans at night, from there, it was clearly (and it was here that I am fully answerable to the ridiculously fickle side of my nature) a short leap to deciding that I needed a pair of blue denim dungarees.

You may remember that I did have a pair from H&M that I wore for my (ridiculous) Dexy's Midnight Runner's Fancy Dress Party almost exactly a year ago (still hate fancy dress more than life itself) but the metal claspy thing fell off during the evening.  Same thing happened with my ecru ones which were also from H&M.  Although I will say I've had no issues at all with the black pair I have.  They don't have any instock online at the moment anyway so can't be tempted to buy from there again.

I really don't want to spend a fortune on these as it may be a two week wonder.  Although my black ones have had far far more wear than I'd ever have anticipated (for a tenner, they owe me nothing) and seeing as I only have two pairs of jeans I actually like - maybe I'll get more wear out of these than I think...

What am I looking for?  Blue denim.  And that's about as far as I've got.. I don't *think* I want too distressed.  I know that I don't want too pale...

So let the search begin.

Starting with Mango.

Medium Denim Dungarees from Mango £39.99

Perfect colour now but I'm not sure about the ties...

ASOS Denim Classic Dungarees with tie straps were £42 now £29

Then I find these from Topshop but of course, sod's law, not in stock in my size.

Clean Indigo Dungarees from Topshop £45

These are perfect.  Do I want to spend £100... I guess if they're perfect and you'd wear them loads and loads.  These are the only ones I could really see being able to wear on a night out.  I may have to *try*....

Levis Tapered Contrast Stitch Denim Dungarees £100

These at Topshop but I'm not sure if I want them this distressed... (to be honest, I'm losing track of what I do want the further I go on)

Long Denim Classic Dungarees £49

Less distressed but more expensive at Lee.

Lee Bib Logger Dungarees £110

Another lighter shade at MiH in the sale from Very Exclusive.

MiH Phalle Dungarees were £275 now £192

Darker again at Dr Denim.  These I fear are too dark for me.  Yes, I'm looking for the Goldilocks of dungarees.

Dr Denim Relaxed Dungarees in midnight £65

And of course, these would be perfect were it not for the cropped bit.  On me at 5ft10, cropped, I fear, may be simply ridiculously short....but the colour and lack of distressing is perfect.

Monki Crop Dungarees £50

Contemporary Life In Progress Denim Dungarees £28  I did want darker but I love the button detail down the front.

I *think* these are navy but I've been reading my book on my kindle for most of the day whilst lying in bed with v poorly boy and my eyes are SHOT.

Monki wide leg dungarees £50  I've decided I'm definitely going to order these.  Not what I was looking for but they may just be the perfect alternative.

Actually they are definitely blue denim as these ones are black - Monki again, wide leg (although they don't look as wide as the ones above) £40  Again I LOVE these.  May as well order them if I'm ordering the above... (both fro ASOS so ridiculously easy to order and send back).

Black black and more black (which I LOVE and don't need.  Box ticked.  Recommend mucho).
Pocket Denim Dungarees £59.99 in black from Mango

Black at New Look £27.99 (but from ASOS - I think these might be the same as the ones from New Look online below.  Or maybe not.  Lord this is confusing).

And I did find coated ones...

Vila Coated Denim Dungarees was £42 now £25

More black at New Look and.. there is 20% off everything until 11pm tonight - Sunday using the code FLASH20.

Black Denim Cigarette Dungarees £29.99

But at New Look I found grey ones..... oh hello....

Dark Grey Denim Dungarees from New Look £26.99

And then there's the khaki option....

Only Denim Dungarees £45

So I've ordered some to try.  Seeing as there is NO sign of cracking out the shorts just yet.

And here I last night, falling back in love with my blue denim.   No - small photographer didn't bother to tell me my leather shoe tie was undone!

Nuria boots - Iro
Stud cuff - Coccinelle
Tan leather belt - Primark
Red Soho Disco bag - Gucci

I hope everyone else has had a great weekend.  As I mentioned, we've got a man down.  Poor middle one really isn't well - luckily (or not) they don't go back to school till Tuesday although he may have to miss his trip to Jump Giants tomorrow (how you know when they're really ill when you warm them they may miss a trip and they day they don't care....normally he would have gone ballistic but nope - totally accepting = seriously not well).

I'm off to do my dungers order.  Anyone else joining me?!  And if you have any pointers for any other great ones, do let me know!

  1. I might be....I have black ASOS bought last year but relegated to the alteration pile as the legs weren't skinny enough (though I could easily fix that) and M&S have some nice blue Limited Edition ones but I fear they may be too skinny for my lard arse ;)

    1. The current Limited Edition ones look SUPER spray on!! I'm not sure i'm quite ready for that yet.. one of the things I love about dungers is that they hide a multitude of sins, not have them vacuum packed for everyone to see!!

  2. Loving the grey ones, the khaki ones, the coated ones..... I'm just not sure they're me. Also my top half is much smaller than my bottom half so all in one outfit options are sometimes difficult to judge...

    1. Hmmm I would have these would be ok then as you can balance out your top proportions with a brighter colour/stripe etc! I think you need to try them on....! (I LOVE the coated ones but they're not really that summery are they?? And I couldn't get to grips with them in the winter.. although maybe with ankle boots..)

  3. Why don't you take your pair to a tailor and see if they have a claspy thingy. I'm not a fan of dungarees, but I do like the grey ones.

    1. I took them back!! The cream ones I didn't take back as I'd had them a lot longer.. I should see if they can be fixed actually.

  6. But alas, not even I can justify anything else in khaki! Wouldn't it be a dull world if we all wore all the trends all of the time x

  7. Love the look of the Monki wide leg ones. I can imagine they'd look effortlessly cool on you. You have the ideal shape for them. Hope you order them and hope they're as great as they look online!

  8. I have black from last year but the legs put me off as they were just loose rather than any sort of style. However, those Mango trainers in he first photo are rather fab x

  9. I've got the fat face dungarees and love them although I'm only 5ft 5 they are the perfect amount of slouch for me. I tried on the new look ones but they were skinny on the leg and not a flattering look for me. The fat face ones are nice boyfriend Jean style with a nice stretch to the material.

    1. Aha so they'd be totally the wrong proportions on me then!! The New Look ones - some of them do look spray on and as I said - not the look i'm going for. One of the reasons I love these so much is that they are so loose!

  10. Hope your middle one is better soon.
What I'm getting here is that you need to be balanced top and bottom for dungarees to work, I love the style....on other people, wouldn't go there myself due to size F cups, otherwise size 12 everywhere else, easily end up top heavy. I avoid braces for the same reason, even when they are 'in vogue'.

    1. Now that is a true issue - I do think it's difficult for anyone with larger boobs to do it, for sure! But then, there are things that us with nay boobs can't do so swings and roundabouts. The number of dresses I try on (don't even get me STARTED on swimming costumes) that I could fit an extra pair of boobs in....

    2. So true....
Can't do baggy/ boxy tops either, but full skirted dresses are great, and anything fitted up top (apart from roll necks, which make it look as though my boobs start directly under my chin) are good too!
When I was a teenager it was impossible getting bras to fit without paying a fortune, and my mum (bless her genes) had to use spirella!! Love the choice for all shapes and forms there is today (not to mention shape wear that works and doesn't make you feel like a trussed turkey!)☺

    3. There are so so many great options these days aren't they? And I love the fact that fashion is so fluent and there are so fewer wrongs and rights now - it's much more down to personal style and so there is definitely something for everyone!

  11. I'm hovering on the not sure with dungarees but the Monki ones look gorgeous, as do the midnight ones. Love the blue jeans on you, I have been truly back in blue denim as it is spring after all. Blue jeans and trainers is my current uniform.

  14. I have the black Whistles ones from last year and recently bought the New Look skinny ones. The issue for me is shoes for now as it's still far too chilly for bare ankles here. I wore the Whistles ones loads last year once I got going with them - initially I did worry they could be an expensive impulse buy...!

    1. It can go either way sometimes with these things can't it... I sometimes wish I had a crystal ball to see what is going to work and what isn't. But I guess that's the joy of fashion! We all make mistakes sometimes but finding a secret gem is The Best (she says sat here in her pleather joggers which were £21 and which I have worn a gazillion times. Ish).
