Call off the Autumn Dogs...

Summer is here, I repeat Summer is here.  For the next week anyway.

And whilst we've (clearly I mean "I've") spent all season moaning about the weather, the minute the sun comes out, you look at your super summery wardrobe and realise meh.  I should have thought about this earlier.

What do you wear when it's approaching 30 degrees and you're actually going to be outside?  And you're going out in the evening so don't want tan marks.  Oh call me shallow but have you ever tried to fake tan over tan marks?  Impossible.com.

Tops.  Little tops are what you want.  To be more precise - the Cami Top.  With jeans, with cropped harems, with mini skirts or shorts.  Personally I'm easing myself into the warm weather gently and I went for jeans today but after a lathering of fake tan this morning for a party this evening, I went for a strappy top aka a cami (no longer the domain of purely underwear so it seems).

Mine?  Bought last year from... drum roll.... Sainsburys.  I did in fact look last night (the glamour of a Friday night chez moi - McD's and Sainbos.  Rock and roll.  I simply cannot manage two nights in a row out anymore.) but they didn't have anything similar this season.

But these are tops that everyone should have for those ridiculously warm days - also perfect for holidays.  And you'll have them for years.

I have another that I'm saving for the really warm days next week from hush.  And it's now in the sale.  This is gorgeous and, like all the tops here, perfect for wearing a strapless bra underneath.  Although I will say, if you have pancake boobage like me, then it's thick enough to go braless.

Embroidered Grecian top was £70 now £45

Others that friends of mine have which are amazing are the jersey Grecian tops which are now in the sale.

Grecian top in black chevron was £35 now £20

And in the multi coloured chevron which is now £25

Similar at Topshop are their Plaited Casual Camis £18.  They do this in Tall, Petite, Maternity and Regular.  In a myriad of colours.

My choice would be the khaki.

Or having said that - good old black is always a safe bet again £18

Now this is punchy but I have to say, with a pair of jeans and plain black sandals.. maybe a black blazer for a touch of modesty (and for a more cloudy day), I LOVE this.  It would also double up as an amazing evening top too.

Lace Trim Cami from Topshop £28

Black again from Mango.  Go on... (not entirely sure I'd be brave enough for the school run in this.. but lunch with a pair of white jeans on a scorching day?  Yup, I could go that.  Tis also the perfect out out top).

Mango Eyelash Lace Cami Top £25.99

Another cami style from Topshop but a print.  Gorgeous for the Summer and perfect to liven up a pair of cut off shorts.

Cross Back Floral Cami Top from Topshop £24

Another print version at Topshop.

Printed Double Strap V Front Cami from Topshop £24

All over the colour of this from ASOS.  Bargain price - looks much more expensive.  Perfection with denim.  I may have to get just *one* more...   I think I could even be tempted by the shorts as well....

Honey Punch Cami Top in Line Print with Frill Hem £24

Probably most similar to mine from Sainsburys are the ones from Topshop.

Tassel Tie Cami from Topshop £22

And were I not to have landed the Sainsbo's one from last year, this would definitely have been mine.  First saw it back in March and loved it.  But am v conscious of having too many tops and not enough Summer!   Because I haven't started on the dresses yet...

Embroidered Peplum top from Topshop £29

Dressier at The Outnet.

Embroidered Cotton-voile from Chelsea Flower was £170 now £85

More embroidered in the sale at Next was £30 now £14 in the white and £12 in the navy.  In fact - a whole host of Cami loveliness in the sale if you click on the link.  Go forth and cami yourself out.

And here I am - lathered in Cocoa Brown fake tan for the annual school football tournament this morning.  With the embroidered linen Sainsburys bargain from last year.  I think it was about £12.

Embroidered cami top - Tu Clothing at Sainsburys
Phoebe jeans - MiH Jeans
Rose gold Gigi sandals - Sam Edelman

Lathered in tan as I'm off to a huge party this evening which I have been ridiculously looking forward to.  What am I going to wear?  Hmmm, well.  The Rixo Dress is at Zippy Stitch.  The husband has gone to pick it up (love him) and has just texted me "what is it supposed to look like?".  Trying desperately not to panic and wonder what on earth I can wear instead..... just in case....  How bad could the dress be?  Actually no one answer that please... (eek).

    1. There has to be some advantage in life to having no cleavage EVER!! Strapless bras? I appreciate if you are very blessed in the boobage department, these may not work for you but alas, some of us are flat as pancakes. I remember being pregnant and proudly going to M&S to be measured and she put me in a TRAINER BRA!

    2. haha! Yeah, I look ridiculous in these tops. Strapless bras are a suggestion only someone with small boobs would make (sorry!) I am not massively booby but these are simply not an option. I have plenty of other things to wear though so it's all good. I am going to a party tonight as well. I am in a lovely new Pyrus top and Whistles trousers. xx

  2. Have a look at Bravissimo.co.uk for a strappy top with built in bra!

I often fall in love with these, and buy them with the intention of wearing a cropped cardigan over the top, then I don't have to wear a strapless bra, but the one I'm most comfy in.
Love the embroidered grecian cream one and the khaki. (Not to mention your barging from Sainsburys)

    2. Sorry - I should have added, it does of course depend on whether on not you will wear them. Regardless of how in fashion they are, if you don't thnk you'll wear them lots, then it won't be worth it!

    1. Right - go to Sales section. Go to the section on the top right that says searchable words or something? And then put in Cami Tops. Hope that works and sorry that the link above doesn't. Their website is impossible to navigate in the sales section. ugh.

  11. I have to say even with pancake boobs, I've yet to come across a really comfortable strapless bra. I will admit I tend to let them swing (well, not swing, that would imply they were big enough to get any movement out of them... errr, no!) free!!! Although last night in a strapless dress, I did wear a bra, you will all be pleased to hear!!!

I may even get the legs out today in a short dress... indoor swimming pool party in 27 degree heat. Seemed like a good idea when it was wall to wall rain...
