Fine knit heaven

I'm breaking my jumper cherry for this season.

Bring on the knits.  So the shops are full of delicious oversized goodies - all the chunk, all the warmth, all the glamour and all of the itching and the sweating.

Oh I so want to love them.  But I fear I'm peri menopausal and they create a boil in the bag effect that isn't the most attractive.  Plus what do you wear over them?

Let's be clear - that's not to say I won't be eating my sweaty hat and obviously doing a massive blog(s) on them, as well as buying in bulk, but whilst the temperatures are still in double figures, I'm looking at the finer knit versions.  Ones that are the perfect alternative to a tee for layering under a blazer or any other jacket, not to mention being the perfect top to go with more voluminous bottoms - yes my beloved midi skirts and wide leg trousers, be them full length or cropped.

So first up - one with attitude.   Actually today they're all going to have attitude.  We're not talking plain here, I've decided I'm going statement.  What I'm not adding in volume, I'm adding in personality.

These are out out jumpers.  We spent Sunday night arranging our New Year's Party and I am getting my festive jiggy on.  These you could happily wear throughout the festive season, they're the jazz hands you need for your every day jeans (throw on some heels) for a pub night out.

Beginning with Forest Green bling.  Oh hello.

Sparkly Ruffle Yoke Funnel Neck Jumper from M&S £29.50

Perhaps more subtle but still with some sparkle - in the black, again £29.50

Ruffles again at La Redoute in multicoloured metallic £29.00

Scoop neck again but slightly less detail, again at La Redoute.

Two tone metallic jumper in black £25.00

Black and metallic green again at La Redoute £25

And an ivory and pink metallic version.  This would look superb with a cream skirt for a really different Autumn look.

More metallic with star details.

Star Embellished Round Neck Jumper from M&S £29.50

V neck now and some detail at the back at M&S again.

Ribbed Tie Back V Neck Bubble Sleeve Jumper £35

Sparkly turtle neck sweater from M&S £27.50

And in navy - oh HELLO £27.50

Metallic higher neck again, this time at La Redoute £35 in black metallic gold

However if we're going turtle neck, I am loving the addition of a bow.

Cashmere and silk-blend Babri jumper from Ted Baker in khaki £149

And I have been shopping today, doing research for a shoot and a blog I'm doing next week and have been statement jumpered out of the park.  I know also that most of these are higher neck, which those who are blessed with boobs don't often like - I promise I'll be sourcing other options.

I WILL BE BACK!!  This is not a done deal by any stretch of the imagination.

Today though - it was back in my comfort zone of my beloved maxis.

A manic evening - seriously an hour spent in my house post school would be THE best contraception for anyone.  But finally the roast chicken is done, the packing is underway (starting to mildly panic about running out of time before next week and who knew how tricky it is to find boys' shorts in October.  HOW DARE one of my boys grow two sizes in a matter of months.  Seriously none of this clothes fit him and he's now the same size as his brother so no hand me downs to have!) and we're going to watch a Bourne movie whilst I try and calm down - the husband is out and frankly, I can't be arsed to do battle again in putting them all to bed.  Please someone else tell me that some evenings in their house are utter carnage?  *will not resort to gin, will not resort to gin*....

  1. I live in jumpers in the winter, and you have outdone yourself with these finds. I can so imagine wearing all of them. How in heaven's name you can find gems on the M&S website is quite simply beyond me, what with the sheer amount of stuff that they have and their very odd styling which always puts me off. But you have found some absolute gems. I'm going off now to look at M&S and La Redoute. A little glitter and a jumper - what's not to love?

    1. I'm going to go and try some on for next week. I LOVE the look of them!

  2. All the sympathy as far as getting the kids to bed! All I have to contend with is a dog who has gone to bed and doesn't want to go out for a pee. With her it's relatively easy as, a tiny shove tells her that I'm serious, and the only problem remaining is if it happens to be raining, the she needs a push in the right direction! (Any other clash of wills is sorted by bribery in the form of treats!)
As for the knits I'm all for fine knits, and the round neck ones you've shown are fine for my boobage, m&s are rocking it, love the one with stars. I find fine knits better for my boobs, maybe because I'm petite as well as big boobed! Would love a fine knit with the sort of texture of the chunky knits (used to have a very fine knit cable knit cardigan that was just the ticket), pointelle is about all that I can find in that direction.
As for sparkle, yes, yes and again yes! The Annie knit from whistles is lovely (have it in navy), if I hadn't bought a burgundy sweater from mint velvet I'd have gone for the whistles Annie in burgundy!
    I'll stop waffling on now!

  3. Look at the Annie Sparkle range from Whistles. I have a bright blue crew neck and a dark red cardi. Both lovely.

  5. Mega sale on knitwear. Bought the poppy wool t in black. I’m uk16 with boobage and the L is plenty roomy. Could have got a M but wanted to be able to wear over a tee as well as on its own. I’ve ordered the camel and black stripe, and the navy and grey stripe and will report back.

  7. I buy a sparkly fine knit jumper every winter, I think! Can't resist them but I never actually wear them because although it's chilly outside everywhere you go inside is boiling! Definitely loving that Ted Baker one. I have an almost identical but without the bow one from Zara but everything is improved with a bow isn't it?!? :D Evenings and bed times are no bother in our house - presumably because I've worn everyone, including myself, out screeching like a banshee from end of school day, through activities and homework and the minefield that is dinner time :O xx

    1. I think it's so acceptable to now wear sparkle every day, there's no reason why you shouldn't have a new one every year!

  8. I love the m&s navy sparkly turtleneck, wearing it today actually. But I feel a need to treat myself to the grey one with stars - so pretty x

  9. Itching and sweating city in all of those sadly. Cotton, silk or cashmere next to the skin or lambswool/merino over a thin layer. Only way.

    1. I have to say my favourite is a silk/cashmere mix. I'd even take that over pure cashmere!

  10. Love these. I got what looks like the same M&S ruffle one in bright red in the sales around this time last year. Washes like a dream, gets so many compliments and love it with jeans or black leather skirt.
