Rocking horse poo

Also known as navy bags.

I have been looking for a navy bag for years.  Seriously years.  Now that I am fully feeling the navy love, the search has been wrenched up a notch or two (aka, I have become obsessed).

It appears though, that I'm not the only one.  I have had so many requests for navy accessories, so here I am with round one - the navy bag.

I will say that I may have to expand our definition of navy - as they are so hard to find (I understand the reason there aren't so many bags of the navy variety around, is because it's a super difficult shade to reliably repeat in leather - too many discrepancies and dispariites within the tone but feel free to correct me if this isn't the case!).  So I'm also going to be looking at other shades of blue that work really with navy.  Trust me..

Throwing all sorts of budget out of the window with a bag from Mulberry.

Mulberry Clifton Small Bag £795

Lina Cross Body Purse from Jigsaw £85

Navy calf hair at DKNY.

Two tone calf hair and leather shoulder bag from The Outnet was £380 now £190

Suede cross body bag in navy from La Redoute £75.  Use the code WINTER for £20 off.

Smaller again and not navy but a different shade of blue and black (and white..) which makes it the perfect shades to match a navy outfit.

ASOS Sport Stripe Cross Body Bag £22

Cross body again and definitely one of my favourites.  This has my name All Over It.

Suede Stud Cross Body Bag from Karen Millen £170

Bigger and slouchier at Gerard Darel.

Gerard Darel Le 24hr Bag £295 from the Trilogy collection at John Lewis

Larger again at La Redoute in navy suede.

Leather handbag £75 - £20 off with the code WINTER

Upping the budget now for some dream bags that are perfect for your Christmas list.

See by Chloe Joan small suede panelled bag £395

Leather Bucket Bag at Mansur Gavriel £490

Blues, blacks and grey at Balenciaga.

Bazar Shopper M £1045

A nod to Balenciaga at Mango - for significantly less.  Although still - £60 for a non leather bag?  I know Stella McCartney can get away with it but Mango?  This, however, has been on my list for ages and I think I will probably cave.

It's obviously not navy but blue, black and white means it's the perfect foil to an all navy outfit.

Striped Shopper Bag from Mango £59.99

So I actually think I might give the Mango one a go.  I've looked at it a number of times over the past couple of weeks and it's definitely growing on me.  Any other navy bag suggestions?  I'm sure I've missed loads - the search definitely continues.

Here I am today, feeling the navy love.

Apologies for not being around at the weekend - busy time with the family, it was my middle son's birthday.  So dinner at Nando's, trip to Chessington, rugby training and then dinner yesterday at a friend's house.  So lovely to take a weekend off.  Even though, I had been doing lots of research - I have some amazing knitwear coming up tomorrow.  It's gorgeous.  Autumn, you're UP!

  1. Not much help but I got a fab one from Zara three years ago. Hubby bought it for Valentines, the day our second was born. (I picked it and it wasn’t wrapped so no romance or anything like that before you gag!) it’s a cross body with a smaller pocket on the front and a row from a zip on all the edges. Does that even make sense? One side of a zip? I’m sure there’s a technical term! x

    1. Hmm I'll have another look but I didn't see one which I thought WHHHOOP. Although I was distracted as I was hoping to find a Jerome Dreyfuss bargain (big fat fail)

  3. Liking the Karen Millen one, definately needs investigating!
Navy bags are difficult to find, and it can be difficult if you want an exact match, although I don't find leather as difficult as other navy's, if that makes sense. Texture plays a big part for me, instead of being too matchy, I go for contrast.
Considering how much I love navy, there are only two navy bags in my collection! The last one from Aurora London, a bit like Gucci's soho disco. My favourite bag isn't navy, royal blue seal skin (sustainable source) with black leather, the colour combo is so good!
One of my favourite brands is Decadent, they have loads of options. My main problem is chosing which one I like the best!

  4. I'm currently considering a DeMellier along the lines of this.... https://www.demellierlondon.com/the-sydney.html?color=115 also navy with studs.... or the Edinburgh (appropriate since I live there, I feel it's justified!!). X

  5. Perfect timing APC have got the Geneve cross body in navy, its in my bag (well husbands) but you have the half moon ? does the leather scratch ?

    1. Yes I do and yes it does. Mine isn't "that" bad and I love the iconic half moon shape but I know people who don't like the more lived in look. I have to say, the first week is the worst as it goes from pristine to wrecked...ok no wrecked but it's not that shiny shiny new. Clear as mud?!

    2. Clear as mud ha !! Thanks so much Mmmmmmmm i'm rethinking it now I like the shiny look to last longer than a week - keep it up your brilliant x

  10. I have the small Celine Trio in navy (midnight) and it is by far my most versatile cross body. Very easy to dress up or down and it holds a ton!! x

  11. I don't think I've ever loved anything as much as that Mulberry bag but a navy bag at that price is not what I need. I wonder if they have it in black. Having bought the DKNY one you showed recently I love it and another black bag would now be ideal. I've even (so far) adapted to using a tiny bag! Do like that Karen Millen one though... xx

  13. Personally think navy suede looks soooo expensive so could be tempted by the Chloe one! Hubby treated me to a lovely LV nave leather bag a few years ago - you know, before children when he has spare cash and treated ME lol,

  15. I feel I have to share diffusionetessile.com with you. This is all Max Mara and group clobber - its their Italian bargain outlet. Some nice navy bags!
I think you need to have a friend in Italy as they don't ship to the UK, but worth it (or you can get a forwarding address for a fee).
