The Schoolboy Error and What I wore today

Well clearly the sensible outfit of choice would have been a full body sou'wester and wellies.  However seeing as I try and avoid any dalliance with inclement weather, practical waterproofs don't feature highly in my wardrobe.  To be honest, I don't actually think I own anything waterproof (fashion macs which are about as much use as wearing a coat made of loo roll and therefore don't count)  One rainhat and an umbrella and a general avoidance of rain is how I've always got by.

Today I wasn't making a statement of my dislike of the wet by wearing ridiculously inappropriate clothes (to be fair it could have been worse but even with my paltry selection of more practical garments, it could have been better), I merely neglected to look at the weather forecast.  Dunderhead. (in my defence it wasn't raining when I left the house first thing...)

I did manage to avoid getting completely drenched by escaping to Bluewater.  But what a miserable shopping experience.   Two jumpers for The Husband.  And a desperate top purchase from H&M which I'm not even sure I'll keep so will reserve judgement and try it on again tomorrow.  I had gone with the intention of getting a couple of things from Zara and sod's law, sold out.  I could absolutely kick myself - complete Schoolboy Error.  I know better than anyone as I spend the majority of my shopping time in Zara that if you see something you like, you Must Buy It.  I have only myself to blame but am seriously considering heading up to Regent St tomorrow to pick up one of the jackets (I may have already starting ringing round Zara stores in a complete panic as I am now officially obsessed with this jacket.  And I do know for a fact I'm not the only person that this happens to.  I refuse to be the only one sat on this loony bench!)

On the upside, back to my comfort zone and irrationally pleased with my outfit today

White longline l/s t-shirt - Isabella Oliver
Grey Baxter jeans - Topshop
Grey and tan jersey blazer - Zara
Red Louis Vuitton inspired scarf - Hong Kong
Black Madonna wedge sneakers - Ash
Chestnut Lily Bag - D&G

Have promised Rugrat Three that I will take him on a local Nature Trail tomorrow (for anyone who knows me in real life, no, I haven't been drinking.  It seemed like a good idea at the time of promising.  Hmmmmmmm)   So the choice is a trip to Regent Street or the Nature Trail.  I'm thinking maybe I could swing it with the bribery of going on the train?  On a scale of one to ten, how crummy a mother am I to deprive my youngest child of a wonderfully educational trip seeing the local flora or fauna?  However there are pigeons in Trafalgar Square, no?  We could maybe play hunt the rat at Charing Cross station?

So how will I be spending quality time tomorrow with the smallest one?  Place your bets please.....

  1. No pigeons anymore in T sq! There are lions, however, albeit stone ones. Great outfit - TS Baxters are the best.

    1. It's a toss up between Baxters and the Leigh ones for me. I can't recommend both pairs highly enough though. Wonder how many more I can buy by the end of the season....! (and how do they keep the pigeons out of TSquare?)
