Another little marmite item for you.

So you have been warned.  Now I absolutely know from previous posts that for most, these will go down like a lead balloon.  Maybe I'm having a midlife crisis and I certainly won't be wearing them every day.  Nor shall I be buying oodles of them.

But these are going to fit a perfect hole in my night out wardrobe for holiday and I also think they'll work really well during the day, dressed down for a more casual look.

I'll break it to you gently.... I'm talking about print trousers.  Not jeans but a looser (dare I mention the word pyjama...) style.  I have done away with the matching top (however I won't lie - that may be only because for the pair I purchased, they'd sold out of the matching top in my size.  I would have been sorely, sorely tempted....)

I've been putting together my holiday wardrobe (yes I know it's only 5 days but last time I went away for 5 days with the girls, we all had excess baggage.  And that wasn't even Ryanair hand luggage.  Proper BA in the hold number.  Utterly utterly woeful) and hey ho, it's only once a year.  Some outfits I've already got but there's always room for something new isn't there?

I have tried to get some little summer dresses but there seems to be a dearth of frocks that fall between wedding formal and well, to be frank, verging on hooker.  (that small green strappy number from Zara that made me look like Tinkerbell on the game, I'm thinking of you).  I should say that if you're willing to throw money at the problem (Net A Porter, Matches, My Wardrobe, My Theresa et al, I am starting to get murderous thoughts every time I receive another enticing Sales email with my perfect dress on it for now only £200) then there are plenty of them out there.  But unfortunately the thought of spending £100 plus plus for something that I will go out and get drunk in, (sorry - have a sophisticated evening out with the girls in "obviously"...) isn't on the cards.  (who am I kidding?  We all know that come the end of the week I shall be ordering like a maniac so that it arrives by next Thursday and justifying myself up to the eyeballs on here.)

In the meantime however, I am deluding myself with thinking that these will fit that hole.

Printed Trousers from Zara - now £22.99

Indigo Collection Aztec Print Trousers £29.50  These would look fantastic with a white or navy silky tee/vest top and a navy blazer - or all of the above in black.  Great with heels.   But I would also wear with a linen tee and flipflops.

Clearly I'm ahead of the game as French Connection have some great new season options.  I love these - so so versatile.  Textured Checked Peg Trousers £65.  And they go in the wash!  Love their styling with the yellow and a little leather jacket.  Would work as well with a blazer and heels for the office (or a night out!)

Another black and white option - the ASOS Premium Trousers in Check £50, again new season.

Jaeger are huge fans of Printed Trousers (I shan't be yet again posting my leopard print wonders - I tried the coat on again with the intention of purchasing and heavens knows what had happened to it between the first time ages ago and this time, but it just looked pap on me.  I am still in mourning.  I had been relying on this for my A/W look so it's back to the drop shoulder oversized coat search for me).  But I digress and here are some sales reductions from Jaeger.

Star Print Trousers - now £75

These are less silky and more structured in their fit which is a different sort of look but still sticking with the print.  (I could do both)

Dogstooth Trouser in Navy  £99

Palm Tree Trousers from Jaeger Boutique now £49

These are definitely way out there but I have to say I love - 7/8ths Leopard Print Trousers from Jaeger Boutique at £99 - new season.

Staying at the more expensive end of the market, these are from By Malene Birger and are now £99 from £225.  They look much better on the model than off.  The Celinia Trousers available at Atterley Road.

Mango are also huge fans of this style (a friend of mine had some on this morning - they were fabulous.  So whilst I'm glibly said I shall only be buying one of these styles - I lied).  I can't work out whether these are the same ones she had on (they were a gorgeous navy and white print) but seeing as I can get these on Click and Collect from Waitrose (yes, my laziness knows no bounds), they're definitely worth a punt.

Mango Tribal Print Trousers  £29.99

These are actually I think more like she had - but in black and white. (she had navy which are sold out most places)  They have a really cute zip detail at the ankle.   Printed Trousers now £19.99

These would work with a whole host of colours and would be perfect into the A/W.  Lovely with pink, khaki, grey, black, white, beige - the list is endless. (well almost)

Mango Printed Trousers in Mystery - now £19.99

And lastly another pair from Mango, this time in a khaki floral (£19.99 down from £42.99) - again perfect with black, khaki, grey, white or beige.

I could go on and on - I never realised they were quite so prolific both high end and on the high street.  So clearly I've not totally lost the plot although, like I said, fully appreciate that many of you will think these ming!

A round up of what I've been wearing - quite a few as I was out three times last week.  Paid for it with a very quite weekend, the kids exhausting me.  There may be a sneaky new bag in here which I shall report back on.....

Girls night in (ok this was in at my house but still involved a change of clothes, albeit rather casual).  Ridiculous stance here from me - 4 yr old took the photos and this was the only one that a) was in focus and b) had my entire body in.   Can't get the staff these days.

Saturday, it was hot hot hot - this is actually a holiday super casual outfit but it was simply too warm to wear anything else.  A day flying around with the kids, parties, swimming, football, drama, lunch, supermarket, toyshop - whilst The Husband watched The Rugby.  All I can say is, thank the lord he doesn't like cricket.  And to be fair, he did work like a dog clearing out our garage on Sunday - half of which doesn't exist today...... yes the work on our house has started.  This is going to be verrrrry interesting.

Ok now hands up who else is panicking with this warm weather and having a "I have nothing to wear" moment....... (or should I say, nothing that is appropriate on this island as opposed to a Mediterranean one?)  I feel a blog coming on....

  1. I have to say, when they first started emerging on the racks, I was dubious - but now I *love* a printed trouser. In fact, printed anything pretty much gets me excited right now. It just feels like a good way to brighten up the day. Adore those Navy Dogstooth trousers!

  9. I love the printed trousers. In fact, I saw a large woman who might be in her 60s wearing a pair today and I actually thought she looked fashionable and fun and that her outfit was very suitable and breezy for the hot weather. You may get some bad reactions but if so it is just that you are ahead of the curve and some people don't start liking a trend until it's about to go out of fashion.
