Reasons to be cheerful

  1. I have found the perfect boyfriend jeans
  2. I have found the perfect skirt
  3. This therefore is the perfect justification for buying new shoes to go with them.
Plus. plus plus plus today it was snowing.  Now, let's face it, this is rubbish.  We're going backwards here folks, I am not kidding, I am not ready for it get colder.  I need warmth (not too warm mind you - I don't need to be baring any excess areas of flesh thank you very much, not just yet.  That needs at least a month of prep first), I need sunshine, I need to crack out the Spring clothes.

But since I'm known for being a glass half full kind of gal by those who love me, I have searched for a silver lining to this large, nasty, grey cloud full of cold stuff and hey presto.  It's too cold for sandals but the ideal shoes that we need for boyfriend jeans and skirts are therefore the wonderful heeled court shoe.

I have touched on these a number of times.  I had a dalliance with a metallic number if I recall and then we went off piste heel wise and looked at some block heel courts.  Indeed, I did in fact attempt to purchase a pair from Whistles only to have my feet contort themselves into cramp rivened agony and so they were returned.

Which leaves a (lovely) gaping hole in my court shoe wardrobe.  Black - check - the gorgeous asymmetric suede Zara ones which have done so well and officially owe me nothing.  Leopard print - check - the utter gems that I have worn so so often and were a fiver, yes you read that correctly, five glorious sterling pounds from H&M.

For me, these are the perfect shoe to go with boyfriend jeans for a night out (or even a posh lunch) and ditto with my newly found (the singular one I've found that is) love of skirts.

In fact, I've even found some that are not too high and could  *could* be worn during the day.  *small skip*

And as if by magic, Kurt Geiger have a 25% off code which runs out soon (according to the gazillion emails they send me telling me this)  Yes, they've worn me down and this, along with the weather, the jeans and the skirt and my new rule of One pair of shoes a month (she says merrily ignoring how many she's bought this year.  I *think* I'm actually only in possession of one pair of New Balance trainers and have, admittedly, about 12 pairs - DIFFERENT SIZES - of skater shoes on order)

So let's assume we're all good with the quota and crack on.  Starting with, seeing as they're so fond of me judging by the volume of emails they assail me with, Kurt Geiger.  Code needed is KGMARCH25 and it ends at midnight on March 31.

Starting with one of those more wearable heels I was talking about.

Kurt Geiger Bea £99 before discount

I have to say I am still totally hankering after gold.  And these with the slightly lower heel could be ridiculously useful.  I did want them more gold gold (something I never thought I'd say.... ) as opposed to a subtle gold but these are gorgeous.

Bailey is slightly higher but boy what a classic

Love the Bailey in beige - personally I'd call this a snakeskin but what do I know?

Moving away from Kurt Geiger full price main site where the 25% off discount applies, there is always Shoeaholics which is always worth a peruse.  It's old KG stock but includes all the brands they stock so has Michael Kors, Alexander McQueen, Sam Edelman to name but a few.  Definitely worth trawling through.

These classic black pumps are only now £45 Grander Black Suede from Carvela were £110

From Clarks - and these, whilst being high are super super comfy - I tried them on the other day and the cushioning in them is just heavenly.

Azizi Immy £79.99 in black.

If you're not sure about these and just want to try them out then there are some in non leather (like my H&M fabric ones) which are definitely worth having a look at.

Love the Mono ASOS Spring Break ones for a mere £25  Love this selection of Spring Break style - a lower heel again, so ideal for work or every day bombing about.  Or for those who aren't a fan of the vertiginous heel.

Now these are higher but I love the added strap detail which will make them a lot more sturdy to wear.  Again these aren't leather but they are £30.

Some other more reasonable options at New Look, again not leather but for £17.99, these are a great entry level to suck it and see.

Red Pointed Court Shoes  £17.99  Also available in black, nude and pink.

Shoes are therefore sorted.  And here is a sneak preview of my blog which is coming up on Friday from a photo shoot that I was invited to take part in on Monday.  May I present the revelation that is the skirt.  All that I shall say on the matter till Friday.  Suffice to say I love this photo though.

But at the moment, more excitedly we have Perfect Boyfriend Jeans.  Now I have blogged about these before when I saw them at Hush Headquarters when they previewed me their S/S collection.  And they went out of stock in about 5 mins.  Which I was gutted about but then over the moon when they came back in stock and they sent me a pair to try out.

Now.  I'm not going to lie.  When they come out of the box they don't look great.  Not the denim, that looks amazing but the style looks just "interesting".   The shape does not look the most appealing.  But remembering how totally fantastic they look on the model and the great reviews, obviously I tried them on straight away.  And proceeded to then get dressed immediately and go out as they are divine.

I have been looking for boyfriend jeans like this since I started looking last year.  These are them!  And that's clearly where I've been going wrong.  I've been judging them on the hanger and off a body in the flesh and that's why they haven't worked on.  Great off, rubbish on.  These look "interesting" off but beyond beyond amazing on.  And that's is SO what counts.

If you're looking for a pair of boyfriend jeans, please do try these.  And buy your usual size.  They're worked them so perfectly that there's no need to buy a random smaller/bigger size to get your ideal fit.  They've done all the brainwork for you and just buy your size (sort of makes sense no?)

I have had so many compliments on these the last two days and I apologise in advance as you will be seeing a lot of these.

Here they are online and this is the wonderful pic of them on the Hush website

Boyfriend Jeans from Hush £75

Now to explain the photos.  7yr old on a stepladder with builder's lights arranged randomly around in what was our old kitchen and is now half a sitting room.  In his element.  Chances of him being so compliant tomorrow?  Nil.

  1. Loving the shoes and the pencil skirts.
I have read that we are going to have the hottest summer on record this year so better get those clothes and prep that body in readiness.

    1. I love it when they say that. They can't predict the weather at the weekend accurately so I'm not sure how they think they can the summer right. But here's hoping - how fab would that be?!

  2. If they did them in a longer leg I'd be interested, but they just look like they'd be too short for me. I'd want bigger turn ups like the website photo.

    1. They're definitely longer than most on the market. It's the one thing no-one seems to make in a longer leg. Go figure. I have longer turn ups on my other jeans so actually I quite like the change otherwise they all start to look the same!

  3. Looking at the Hush model, I would size up for the looser fit that she has otherwise I think that they look very much like the Next relaxed skinny which I love but they are a mere £26! X

    1. Aha but the the problem with sizing up to get them looser is that they, for me, they don't fit on the waist or arse. I have looser ones from Gap which i'm really happy with but this is the exact fit I was looking for!

  4. Looking fab in the skirt! Like the hair too! I must dig out my boyfriend jeans which I'd wear with flats not adventurous enough for heels...yet. That hat was a find - I have a lovely black one from Zara that looks great on (if I do say so myself) except I feel an utter knob wearing it !

    1. I LOVE with heels - but yes, they have to be the right heels and the right sort of jeans. Hats - yes you just have to wear them with supreme confidence whilst feeling like a total dick. honestly, go through the embarrassment and then you won\t care. And I had dry hair with no need for an umbrella which was a great feeling! xx

  8. You look fab in the skirt outfit and not at all office like which is always my worry - my problem is I like to look smart but feel casual (see Kat you're not the only random one!). Just received my first hush order - loving the grey combats tho bit worried about the waist - do u find yours are ok with a belt - worried about them being a little low on the waist?

    1. oh thank you! and no, not officey at all. Or weddingy, that's my other worry.... Grey Combats - I do wear mine with a belt yes, they do come up on the large side I think. though not sure if I'd fit into a smaller size..... but with a belt they're fine. And at least I don't get a muffin!

  11. Love the skirt outfit and photo. Really lovely picture of you!
I found some great boyfriend jeans in Tesco for £16 yesterday, so soft, not too much distressing and enough fabric in a 'long' for a good turn-up!

    1. Wow that sounds fab! I did see some ONCE in Tesco but not in my size and I have never seen them again in store or online. Sod's. Law.

  12. Hm... love them in the website photo but in real life the turn-ups are too skimpy and cheapen them, plus they look nicer more oversized like on the model. So I'm guessing maybe to size up. Website colour looks more designer too... a tad dated irl, sorry.

    1. Horses for courses - my photography is of course absolutely dire (the thought of going to get a new phone fills me with so so so much dread but it's on my list of MUST DO things ) and honestly the wash is much much better in real life, a dirtier blue that it looks, if that makes sense? I've been doing the big turn ups on my other jeans so I don't mind the smaller one on these - it's so hard for me to find Boyfriend jeans that fit on the bum and waist and don't swamp me that I'm v happy with these.

I also think if I were to size up they would fall off me which is what happens with my Current Elliot ones and they then go really funny round the crotch (hate that word!). Like I say, horses for courses as to what you want from a pair of boyfriend jeans but I seem to have every single base covered now and these fit that perfect hole of not TOO oversized which is what I wanted. x

    1. It is leather. Is AMAZING. Am being randomly abstemious on the shoes purchases I have to say (very unlike me - this only one a month pair is definitely working). Post going up today about shoot.

  16. You look amazing in the skirt outfit. Not sure on the jeans, they look better oversized I think, the rest of your outfit is fab. I do like them with the whistles stripy top. Have just ordered the hush denim shorts (and a few other things...ssh), hope they work out, love how they style their things, hope it's not too good to be true.

    1. It's so funny, when I wear my oversized boyfriend jeans, I get so many comments saying they swamp me! These are perfect on me in the flesh, I promise, there is definitely the right amount of looseness for a boyfriend jean, I promise. Oh my god, the shorts are DEVINE. You will so not be disappointed. Hope you love your package. x

  17. Not a fan of the boyfriend jeans, sorry. I mean, I LOVE LOVE LOVE boyfriend jeans per se, as per the model photo..... relaxed weekend style, cute and sassy, and well, looking like you've nicked the boyfriends jeans. But in real life they look a tad like you've nicked one of the kids jeans. Oversized on the hips is not a problem Kat, it's how to get it right, you've got them on the waist as you say, you are talking about waist sizeage. Just allover 'mom' jeans for me I'm afraid. And relaxed pumps would look better...... loafers? Really? Horses for courses... never a truer word said lol.
