It's the weekend...

And I don't know about you but we are hunkering down after a rather excessive December.  Ok so I'm ignoring the fact that I may have a large proportion of the two weeks holiday being excessive with the amount of time I spent on the sofa chilling out with the kids - I'm talking about excessive entertaining and being entertained (by adults - not the myriad of kids' films I watched/snoozed through)

We are having a weekend off.  No dinners out, no wine on tap - civilised evenings in with  The Husband, lovely home made healthy food and a bottle of red.  And breathe...

Which brings me neatly onto today's blog - clothes which, I will be honest, I pretty much lived in for a large part of the holidays.  I also every night (when I'm not going out, I hasten to add), will change into an outfit like this for the evening.  I get changed when the kids get into their pyjamas.  Joggers, sweatshirt, Uggs, dinner, sofa.  Perfect.

Now because you've spent thruppence ha'penny on your New Year gym stuff , how about updating your loungewear with some bargains in the sale?  These are also ideal to throw over your gymgear, for throwing over skinny jeans and biker boots at the weekend and therefore they really do earn their keep.

I love this one from Baukjen in the useful and neutral grey.

Nevis Hoodie in grey from Baukjen was £79 now £39

Nevis Hoodie in Blue from Baukjen was £79 now £39 And a blue version

Or blue and grey at Hush in the sale

Star Print Sloppy Joe was £45 now £30

But there are some super bargains to be had if you're not sure how much wear you'd get out of them - or these just aren't things you want to spend money on (we all have different things which we think are important budget wise.  As I mentioned, gym stuff and underwear are the lowest of my priorities.  Down there with bin bags)

Cream (and this would also be lovely for the Spring actually - little denim shirt underneath or just over some faded skinnies or boyfriend jeans) cable knit from Brave Soul was £30 now £10

Other bargains to be had at Mango - I went in yesterday (don't even get me started on my quest for a cream or oatmeal jumper... what, I hear you say?  The one I had from there with 30% off earlier in the season and sent back as I was being good?  Oh yes.  Tool that I am)  Nil on the jumper front, but scoring much higher on the sweatshirt front.

My top tip though would be the Ciao Bella Sweatshirt which is now £19.99.  From Mango.  The grey one is actually more of a knit than a sweatshirt - incredibly versatile.

Moving onto the bottom part now. I adore a pair of joggers, I really do.  My favourite ones which I wear more often than anything else in my wardrobe as they're on every single day come 7pm are the harem pants from Hush and the Lola Joggers from Whistles (which they don't do anymore.....)

Whistles Jersey Joggers in black £75  These are almost identical to the Lolas that I have that they don't do anymore.  No they're not cheap but cost per wear, I think they're a really good investment.

I would be more than happy to wear these out as opposed to purely lounging around.

So does anyone else get changed out of their civvies as soon as the clock hits 7pm.  I will admit I usually coincide it with a glass of wine but this week and from now on - no mid week sneaky drink for me. (she says ambitiously)  I lasted till Thursday this week which is a definitely improvement.  Must try harder next week.  (although Thursday is somehow the start of the weekend for me.... I think it's a throw back to my proper City working days when Thursday was definitely the start of the drinking days for us)

Coming up on the blog shortly, I'm going to be back with some basics that are ideal at this time of year for layering with and yes, there are some bargains to be had.

I do actually have to get dressed properly this weekend as we've got a special Family Mass on Saturday evening (a rather different occasion to my normal Saturday night escapades) and even I draw the line at wearing loungewear to church.  Haven't broken it to the 8yr old that tomorrow he's also got the inaugural First Holy Communion Mass in the afternoon - as well as having been yesterday at school, so he'll be going three days in a row.  Spot the good Catholic..... (not sure he'll be as impressed...)

Before I go though, I have a super bargain to report back on, thanks to a lovely lovely reader who commented on my navy thread the other day.   These beauties that I posted from Dorothy Perkins where they are £15 down from £39 are only £10 at House of Fraser.

Dorothy Perkins Pointed satin shoe boots at House of Fraser £10  They're a proper gorgeous midnight navy shade, they are ridiculously comfortable (yes, looks can be deceiving) and for £10, they are a steal.  I got them delivered in store and picked them up yesterday.  Couldn't have been easier.  I am so so so chuffed!

And lastly, outfit from yesterday.  Hair got nailed in the rain but I have to say this is fast becoming one of my favourite outfits.  I'd perhaps be lying if I didn't say it's because it hides my little Pirelli friend, nesting round my midriff.

Oversized fairisle jumper - H&M
Coated skinnies - Cos
Buckle boots - Toga Pulla

I will admit, I am itching itching itching to look at new season stock.... anyone else?!  Has anyone else caved and snuck in a new season treat?

  2. All gorgeous but I'm more of a Juicy style velour tracksuit pj from 630 kind of girl which I also sleep in - too lazy to get changed twice! I'm on no spend Jan which is killing me - just saw a gorgeous navy blue pair of suede Jalouse style Zara boots for £30 and had to restrain myself not to buy. Also on Dry Jan so can't console myself with red wine - your posts are helping me get through this difficult month so keep em coming! Loved your beauty post the other day - more please plus where is your promised dressing room post - would love to see how you store your gorgeous treasure! Xx

    1. oh I love the fact you sleep in yours too - so do I!! You are doing SO well on a Dry Jan. It's honestly one of those things though - you say ban and all you see are amazing things And I have bought hardly anything with no ban in place. Sod's law....

  3. Dear God, your weekend sounds worse than an Irish Easter .. that's a lot of church-going! Just popping in to say I laughed and laughed at your gym post - meet your sister! I LOATE it with a passion; am genuinely mystified by people who claim to feel so good afterwards; and have only recently very, very reluctantly conceded that it's a must at this stage of life. Damn :(

  6. Over Christmas I pretty much lived in my Hush brushed cotton PJ bottoms, ridiculously cosy and ever so forgiving around the waist. Tempted by the DP bargain beauties but they look scarily high - I don't seem able to manage more than 4" these days, sadly (heels that is, ahem).

    1. Hush jamas are truly gorgeous. Right - well actually the DP shoe boots honestly honestly aren't *that* high. Deffo not more than 4inches and they are genuinely comfortable. I promise!

  8. I always change into slobby gear the minute I get in from work! It's not like I work anywhere smart, the office is very casual, but I always slip on something different and snuggly when I get in. Baggy jeans and a hoodie are my choice, but I'm on the look-out for a pair of ugg-type boots as slippers, but which don't cost the earth! Any ideas Kat?

  9. I do get changed in these cold, mark months to get cosy in the evening but I don't really do it in the summer so much. I bought a few things from the Boden spring preview which arrived this week and I'm very pleased with most of them and I had a peek at H&M today too. Lots of goodies around! Lynne xx

    1. Hopefully it was you who asked on Instagram? It's a great great bargain - but it's for shorter people. I think it was also true to size to be honest, but was almost like a petite top. Hope that helps!

  15. Those Mango slogan sweatshirts are ace, I've got one on today that I bought last year! I love the slightly shorter length, and I wear them with a longline vest - so much more flattering than a load of bulky jersey all round your middle!
