I've been distracted.

It's all this talk of red. (check yesterday's blog which was all about the red jumper love if you missed it)

And this good weather (ok so I appreciate it's completely tipping it down with rain) has led me to realise how much I love my sneakers.  I'd go so far as to say obsessed.  In fact, last night with The Husband away, I may have stayed up till silly o'clock looking for these (and of course, felt like I'd been dug up this morning).

Take the shoe obsession, throw in my non ending quest for that certain red jumper and what do you get the need for?

That'll be red sneakers.

I'm blaming the weather as it just doesn't seem to be quite cold enough for boots yet.  Or coats, but that's another blog... (ignoring wellies and raincoats.  Admittedly when I started writing this blog this morning, we hadn't had rain of biblical proportions).

And yes it was a day for wellies.  But but but, if it hadn't been torrential and just a mere drizzle, I would definitely have worn my sneakers.  Either my beloved Golden Goose or the eminently practical (not that the GGs aren't but I don't tend to wear them when it's wet underfoot just as I want them to last till I'm 65) Stan Smiths.

I could happily wear either of them every day.  And it did occur to me last night as I was writing the jumper blog - I need a red pair.  To be honest, it did go from - a red pair would be handy, to - a red pair, actually that's a very good idea, to, - not sure I can live without a red pair within about 3 minutes.

So this isn't the blog I had planned for today at all.  I'm shelve that till tomorrow but today, I apologise, you are being subjected to a sea of red sneakers.

You can take it very literally and go red.  Red red.  You can't get a lot more red than these...

adidas Originals Superstar trainers in red £75

The Stan Smiths are perhaps more wearable.  In suede - I think I'd prefer leather though...

adidas Originals Stan Smiths £65

More adidas and these are sublime.  Yes, we've veered somewhat from red red to burgundy red.  Clearly we're talking shades of red.

adidas Originals Burgundy Slip on Trainers £62

More classics at Puma.  I have to say, I think I may prefer these to the adidas ones.

Puma Classic £65

Or maybe the burgundy ones... Oh now hello... even though I had said red (lordy I am so fickle), I think I may prefer these.  Or should I stick to my guns and go red red.

Puma Suede Classic £55

Bargain of the day though has to be these from Reebok.

Reebok EXO fit Clean Low Fv Terra Trainers were £70 now £45

Having said that, I may have peaked too early.  On a roll with the bargains... burgundy classic now.

Puma Basket Classic Trainers were £55 now £38  (these are a fabulous by... I'm wondering about an interim treat purchase.  Itching.  ITCHING to press buy)

Slightly off piste but a casual trainer style in obligatory (for today) red.

ASOS Darla Pointed Plimsolls £25

And a couple more interesting versions.  These, for me, are on the cusp of acceptable.  I'm not sure.  They could be fab.  They could look like I've done a runner from the bowling alley without changing my shoes.

Nike Classic Cortez Leather sneakers £70

No Name Trainers in Bordeaux were £80 now £60  Quite liking the flatform option...Beige sole is super practical for this weather (swerves mentioning suede upper...).

But I have to say, I've really had my head turned by these.  They're reminiscent of a certain pair... so long as what looks like distressing isn't just shadow.

Converse Pro Mid Hi top trainers £75

They also do these in a low top but I think it might be the higher ones I prefer.. go figure.

These are for men but so long as you don't have titchy tiny feet (well, smaller than a 5 which I guess isn't that small) then these should work.

I fear, seeing as these are shiny and white white then the ones above, which I think look lived in (preferred look), may also be shiny and new (like a virigin.  You can't not say it, can you?  And no, haven't even had a sniff of mulled wine yet).

Converse Cons Breakpoint suede trainers £60

However the entire purpose of this blog is to justify the purchase of these.

I need.  I honestly cannot describe how comfortable the Superstars are.  They are heinously priced for footwear but I have worn mine, I would say, three times a week since I got them in August and I would wear them every day if I could.  I've been so surprised by how much they go with.  And yes, I did buy mine in the sale.

A red pair would be the works.  Christmas list? (imaginary list clearly - code for, should I just buy them?)  Or do I play chicken with them and wait for the sale...? (although they're already sold out in all but one size at Selfridges.  SOD)

Golden Goose Superstar £260 in claret

Or the leather covered in mesh £265 Oh. Hello.

I need to now walk away from the computer and hide all credit cards as I'm about to have a glass of wine (I have done the Beavers pick up, children are fed, washing on, watching Masterchef Australia with the 7yr old) and The Husband is away for another night.
Home alone again.  The temptation to shop is Too.  Much..... Must resist..... Maybe I should start wrapping the Christmas presents...

Well I'm certainly not taking the dog for a walk in this hideous weather (she has been out today for 45 mins when I saw it had suddenly stopped).  It has been positively torrential here.  Nothing for it but to dress like this.

Whilst we're here, have you bought into the trainer obsession yet?  Does red float your boat??  I'm off to float a glass of red now...of the mulled variety.  Lidl gluwein in the microwave.  Pure perfection, I promise you.

  1. Kat, are those wellies comfortable for dog walking?

    1. Supremely supremely comfortable. I do a couple of hours in them no probs. And on Sunday that was after being on my feet at Rugby for three hours.

    2. Thanks. I might have to investigate them.

  2. Loving the blog Kat!
You seem to be veering towards the Superstars and considering you are shopping for Xmas maybe wait for the sale?!
Personally I like the Pumas (both). They would look totally lush with grey skinnies and your Acne Cardigan or even the Hush Nina cardigan plain white tee and blue boyfriend Jeans and of course your new black coated jeans and a little black blazer. Oops!

    1. OMG Stop! You are all supposed to tell me they MING. Everyone on Twitter hasn't been much help either. They honestly would go with pretty much everything I own... as would any single pair! And yes, it's definitely the GGs that I'm hankering after but maybe I should try the Pumas to start with "just to check". They're a great deal aren't they?! (and thank you xx)

  3. I like those pointy slip on ones - the lacing and unlacing does my head in and I think test the water with the Pumas - although buy cheap buy twice??? (sorry!)

    1. Well, I've ordered the £38 leather Pumas to test the water exactly like you say.... But then I think SOD IT. I'll see if I get on with the colour first (as in try out with outfits.. ) Actually what I SHOULD do is try both - GGs and Puma to gauge the difference...

  4. The Pumas are fab. The Nike remind me of school when I wore a grey pair everyday! I love my trainers though, I may have just bought a "spare pair" of white ones in the sale because I wear mine so much. The coated skinnies had to go back unfortunately. My hips and bum are a size smaller than my waist and these just didn't work sadly.

    1. I've ordered the Pumas in the interests of research..... And yes, - that's it - I wear them so so so so much. I honestly think only a monsoon or snow will stop me. What a shame about the skinnies xxx

    2. Oh man now I'm going to see them on here and Instagram and bam - I need red trainers! x

  5. Adore the GG leather ones. I have loads of GG in shopping carts on my ipad waiting for the sales then I will be pressing buy...buy...buy before they sell. I am a trainer lover and these top them all!!! Xx

    1. They are the absolutely caviar of trainers aren't they? Like wearing clouds on your feet. I'm not sure I'll be able to wait till the sales...

    2. What if they sell out... to be honest, if I just wanted a pair of white ones and wasn't bothered about the trim, then I'd so so so wait for the sale as there are lots of them around. And lots of places sell them. But not the same with the red ones. Already sold out at Selfridges and Ive only found 3 other places that have them!! And one shop in Italy (yes, I mean three in europe - they're silly money in the US) only has ONE pair left in my size!!!

    3. Not sure I can either.... and reading your comments only encourages me more!!! Such a bad influence, she says sitting on her hands!!

    4. Just buy Kat. You've had loads of wear from the ones you already have. You won't be happy with a cheaper pair. We just kid ourselves that we will but in reality it's frequently the case!

    5. You speak an awful lot of sense.....

    6. Good point Jan, I agree buy!

  6. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I am with you on the red trainer bandwagon. I already have a pair of (very old) red leather trainers that are definitely distressed! As well, as a pair of converse burgundy hi-tops tri zips. Can't really justify more, but they look great with grey jeans, also black, harem/joggers, boyfriend jeans...

Thanks for the thumbs up for the New Look coated skinnies, they're fab! I got the high waisted ones as the others were all sold out except in size 6 - I wonder why. I had heard them recommended before but I had forgotten. They are so comfy and flattering, unlike my H&M pleather leggings, which look great but are distinctly NOT comfortable.

    Great blog.

    1. You are selling them to me by the minute. AND they'd look fab with the coated skinnies. So pleased you like them - they're fabulous, aren't they?!

  7. Love the burgundy Pumas . I had a purple pair back in the 90s. I loved them so much . I also really like golden goose and you've shown how versatile they can be . Great picks x

    1. To be honest, I didn't realise how versatile they would be. But my life now is purely casual. Even if I have a meeting , as it's fashion related, I get to still be casual! It would be rather easy to justify another pair I think....

  8. I think you should buy the GG ones as, like others have said, you'll end up buying them later anyway and if there are so few around...go for it and you've also helped the husband out with your presents! I too have purchased the New Look coated skinnies but found the regular and high waist to be pretty much the same height - love them and wearing them today with my grey cashmere jumper and biker boots - perfect for this dull wet weather. Right, I must focus on work!

    1. I've helped my husband by being home alone whilst he's been swanning around in a suite for a couple of days at a very nice hotel!!! And yes, I don't think there is much difference at all between the normal and the high waisted ones. Both are perfect. Happy work!

  10. I can vouch for the Pumas in suede - husband has them in bright blue and (yes) red. Which means they're off limits for me really. But they are lovely quality, really vibrant. He bought them from an eBay seller for a lot less ££.

    1. Yes I can see why you wouldn't want to have matching shoes with your husband!!

  11. Hi Kat! I love the Puma's myself, plus they would go with your entire wardrobe, I think. However, after TWO entire days and nights alone with the kids, I think you absolutely deserve the GG's. And your husband totally deserves a treat as well: a lovely Rudolph Christmas jumper! *SNORTS*

    1. ...or there's the Stuart Weitzman Lowland boots, which I just saw at Nordstrom's again... Might not have your size in the loden, but there are other gorgeous colours!

      Delete
    2. Oooh...just saw the same SW boots in Bordeaux at Bergdorf Goodman's for $300 less than Nordstroms. That would more than cover shipping! Your hubby is never gonna leave you alone again!

      Delete
    3. I honestly think I"d get more wear out of the sneakers actually. I have so many boots and I could buy almost three pairs of sneakers for the price of one pair of boots. If I haven't bought them by now, I think that says a lot!!

  12. Oh yes, I am truly on board with the red trainers I have the dark red adidas superstars and they are so comfy, like slippers! Loving the converse too, how Golden Goose to they look?! of course GG is the dream always that one step above all the others! xxxx

    1. They are too amazing aren't they? There's definitely something to be said for any sort of shoe that feels like wearing a slipper!

  13. The dark red leather Pumas are my favorite and the price can't be beat. Something about the matching laces that I prefer; as opposed to white. I bought a burgundy suede pair from Madewell (Saucony Shadow Original) that I'm really loving.

  14. Loving the idea of red trainers.... Love the GG but feel they might be out of my budget especially so close to Xmas and my upcoming wedding (3weeks and counting) so thinking the Pumas might be a great alternative! They look lovely, let us know what you think of them..

    2. I'm super excited! When I bumped into you at Bluey last week it was my hen do! Me and some good girlfriends were there for the day, bit of browsing/shopping, lunch and cocktails ... We had a fantastic day. As for the wedding day I'm wearing a proper wedding dress, despite being 47 and 3rd time bride !!! I'm pushing the boat out, it's a beautiful dress (Ivory, fitted bodice with button back and a full skirt, it's quite plain apart from some bodice detail ) can't wait to wear it. A big change from my daily uniform of black and grey with skinny jeans and big scarves!!

The daily commute gives me an excuse to shop & I did very well in the All Saints 40% off sale! Yay! I suggest hair of the dog at the club bar, it's the only way you'll get through an afternoon of kit washing & homework!
