Don't say I never give you anything..

... so may I present... the navy fest.

I've been promising this for a week or so after my "I love black for the summer" blog.  To be fair, I love black all year round and as I always say, my mantra is "does it come in black?".

But I totally appreciate that the older you get (yawn boring yawn), for many of us - ok so most of us - navy is a more flattering colour to wear.  It's warmer on knackered skin - I'd love to term it a different way but old and knackered is what I personally am!  I like to think I do a pretty good job with make up and fake tan but at the end of the day - I do not have that gorgeous plump skin that only youth has.

Having said all of that though, I feel SO great in black, that's why I wear it and continue to slap on the make up and tan but I do know so many people feel better in navy.

So here we are - a navy blog.  Nothing but navy.  Dresses and jumpsuits.  One piece wonders.  No brainers which you can throw on every day.  You just need to team shoes and a bag.  This is my favourite sort of thing to buy as it's just so easy to have in your wardrobe and putting a really polished outfit together takes no effort at all.

The best thing as well is that you can either keep it simple or ring the changes with statement accessories.

Without further ado, starting with a jumpsuit.  Dress up for work with heels or pumps - blazer or trench, dress down with sneaker or sandals and a biker or denim jacket.

Beatson Cullotte Jumpsuit from Finery London £89

Spaghetti strap jumpsuit from Mango £35.99

Wrap Front Jumpsuit at Me+Em was £119 now £83

Love it with a blazer, would happily also wear with a pair of trainers and a biker.

And again - red shoes are clearly the order of the day.  Classic shirt dress for every occasion.

Turn up 3/4 sleeve shirt dress was £35 now £20.50 from M&S

Midi length - and this isn't going to be for everyone but I love this.  I'd wear with sandals now but I think it would come into its own in Autumn with ankle boots.

Sleeveless midi Joanne Neck Detail Dress from Joseph £275

Midi flared at La Redoute.

Plain flared dress from Atelier R was £59 now £35.40

Silk at Jigsaw.

Annie Asymmetric Slip Dress was £295 now £147

Midi again at Finery London with more red shoes.

Elfort Belted Tea Dress £69

Another one that would be perfect for work and just add heels for the evening.  Plus perfect for all year round.

Textured Jersey Dress from Jigsaw was £149 now £59

And another super useful wardrobe number.

Contrasting dress from Mango was £49.99 now £29.99

Another version from Me+Em with a bit more detail.

Perfect Frill A Line dress was £135 now £68

More casual knee length now in the sale.

Me+Em Drawstring Summer Dress was £99 now £50

Shorter now and again, fabulous for work but this one would work for play as well.  With trainers and a little denim jacket, just gorgeous.

Crossover dress with 3/4 length sleeves was £39 now £15.60

Ditto this one, new in at M&S.

Modal Rich Drape Bodycon Navy Dress £39.50

Jacquard Dress from La Redoute was £39 now £23.40

Another super versatile dress from Mango.  This works like so many of them - from office, to dinner with heels, to the airport with denim jacket and trainers, to drinks on the beach in bare feet or flat sandals.

Flowy Belt Dress from Mango was £49.99 now £15.99

Gorgeous short dress in the sale at Net A Porter which does everything that I've mentioned above.  Maybe I should be personally giving these more attention...I'm managing to sell them to myself.

Michael Michael Kors Navy tassel trimmed crepe mini dress was £170 now £102

Then if you are looking for bottoms - seeing as I am having a skirt love in at the moment, this is definitely worth considering.

Ness Navy Wraparound Skirt from Finery London £99

So here I am today, in my not plain navy but a print.  A lot of colour so definitely not plain.  BUT the background colour is navy..

Clementine bag - Anya Hindmarch

Which leads me on to what I feel like writing about again - my beloved print dresses.  I don't think I've done one for a month or so (I know it doesn't feel that long...) which means one is well overdue.  Maybe not tomorrow, but would you all hate another maxi/midi print dress blog? (runs and hides...!)

I've also got some trousers up my sleeve - which sounds totally arse about face when you write it down but I can't help thinking forward towards Autumn... It doesn't help that everyone you meet wants to talk about their A/W ranges which are going to drop in a couple of weeks but I promise, these are going to be a hit.

Don't know if you're into these ones in particular, but in case you hadn't noticed, they have one pair of Marant boots in a size 8 on the TK Maxx website right now: red, black, animal print, pointy, multi-buckle - all your fave things in one boot...! http://www.tkmaxx.com/womens-boots/black+red-anima-print-boots/invt/39085301

  4. Loving the navy! I've always felt better in navy rather than black, probably due to a pale skin with freckles (They seem to have disappeared more as I've got older, which is a shame as I like them!). I do prefer a warmer navy, but I'm the same with most colours.
Lol, trousers up your sleeve! Trousers are my everyday staple, so yes please to the trousers!

  5. Lovely blog but so disappointed each dress I clicked was man made fabric. Not your fault I know. Can you include some silk, linen or cotton etc in your print dresses post?

    1. Hmmm I know exactly what you mean. I've got some silk dresses up my sleeve today - the problem is of course is that they're more expensive!!! But hopefully I'll be able to find some sales bargains...

  7. Love, love, love navy. Yesterday, I was wearing a navy jumpsuit from asos (very similar style to the Me & Em one - but I sized up, so it's slouchier) and today I am wearing Me & Em navy palazzo pants that are about 5yrs old with a navy printed tee. I still wear black, but more on the lower half or I might break it up with something lighter.

Love the m&s dress, I seem to be collecting clothes drapey navy tops. Not so sure about navy bags, but zalando is good for navy boots and shoes.

  8. I never used to wear navy, or blue of any description but loving it recently. I've just bought a gorgeous navy broderie anglaise dress from Next in the sale reduced from £50 to £16, total bargain. Long sleeves with a ruffle detail across the top, totally wearable now with sandals and will look great in the autumn with boots and a long gilet.
