All about a button
Especially when that button is gold (goooooooooooooold - just can't help it) or silver. Anything that has a whiff of military about it.
And when that button is on a blazer/jacket thingymajig - that makes it all the better, as we're coming into Spring and I am hankering after wearing lighter outerwear. They're my staple over jeans with thin knits and tees but this year, I'm going to be ringing the changes (we're hardly reinventing the wheel here but...) with maxi skirts and dresses. Except for today, when I'm breaking myself in gently with my good old jeans.
Did I also mention that you will be bang on trend? I have since discovered this as a total coincidence. Utter fluke. I just happen to love this look. Me and Balmain *fist bump*.
Balmain Double Breasted Blazer £1425
Balmain Double Breasted Wool Twill Blazer £1425
However it really really isn't necessary to spend this much at all. Honestly. There are so so many amazing blazers out there. I have a black and a navy one from Zara last year which I love and are actually great quality (considering so much of it isn't...).
And speaking of Zara, I have seen one that I LOVE and have obviously ordered as, whilst I have been disappointed with the quality of some of their clothes as I've just said, hasn't been up to scratch (I ordered the red trouser suit and the fabric was hideous. Plus they weren't even cheap), I have always found their blazers to be incredible for the money.
So I have high hopes for this one.
Military Style Coat £49.99 from Zara
Boohoo Longline Blazer £30
Double Breasted Cotton Blazer in Navy at Mango £69.99
Navy again for a sales bargain at Jaeger.
Wool Gold Button Blazer was £227 now £75
ASOS Premium Tailored Blazer with Military Buttons £65
Similar in black at Topshop. This style works so well over maxi dress or long skirts. I LOVE the silhouette of the nipped in waist with the extra volume on the bottom.
Gold Button Double Breast Blazer from Topshop £55
Only Military Jacket in Navy £45
However I reckon pick of the day is from M&S - could these be the most Balmain-like there are?
Gold Button Jacket in Black £65
And in the navy... again £65. It's the puffed shoulders that get my vote...
Or how about the camel again £65
However M&S have clearly read my mind and think the metallic trend is going to be big this year as they have another version - double breasted, longer and straighter - this is very similar to the Alexa Chung one I have from last (which I may well wear tomorrow, now that I remember it!).
Gold Button Jacket from M&S in the navy £49.50
In black...
In the red again £49.50
Or... in the off white £49.50
And here I am in my navy Zara one today.
Blazer - Zara (ss17)
Jumper - Wyse London (gift aw16)
Jeans - Zara (sale aw16)
Belt - ASOS - (ss17)
Bag - Hill & Friends (gift aw16)
Loafers - Gucci (aw15)
Tomorrow, I will be back with more Spring idea. I'm on a roll....
You may (or may not) have noticed that today is Monday. But this isn't a Monday Must Have. There isn't one today. As I've not bought anything this week that I feel the need to shout about. So instead of just finding something - you got the blazers. Something I DO highly recommend. Will report back on the Zara one when it arrives.
The M and S with puffed sleeve and Tophop are racing out and very few sizes left. Love this look, especially the puffed shoulders! Only navy or black I think though as the red bit too redcoat for me
ReplyDeleteThey're just so easy to wear, aren't they?!
DeleteYes, I love a puffed sleeve on a blazer!! The M&S one is gorgeous but I’d have to swap the buttons for silver as I don’t do gold! 😄
ReplyDeleteThey're definitely not gold gold - I've seen teh white one. They're more of a non descript metallic, if that makes sense?
DeleteI bought the M&S one last week...I am between sizes and only the smaller size was left in stock butI love it - and I never fasten jackets anyway ;-) Just looking forward to it being warm enough here to actually wear it...
ReplyDeleteI find I am nearly always in between sizes in M&S! I size down in jackets and up in trousers. I do find though that their tops are bigger than their bottoms? Or maybe I just have total size dysmorphia!
DeleteI usually am bigger on top than the bottom...but in M&S clothes I seem to have shrunk a whole dress size which is definitely NOT the case! But I wish they would do a size 9 and a size 11 ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think I must be the only person who thinks M&S sizing on the bottom has got smaller... I was always a 10 but now I'm often a 12. I fear it may not be them at all but an expansion of my lower regions.!!!!
