New Year, New Blogs

So first up - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!  And secondly huge huge apologies for not having done a blog post in a month.  What can I say - life has been exceptionally busy over on Instagram (@doesmybumlook40 if you'd like to keep up with the news over there) and Christmas and family and life has just taken over.  There is a LOT of fashion content and ideas over on Stories on Insta but to replicate both is over double the time.  HOWEVER I will try and be more present here for those who like it (I also get the opportunity to waffle more - not necessarily a good thing for some.. sorry!)

What have we been up to?  Well - we've been looking at what you can buy in the sales and to cut a long story short - you should only be buying what you would already have bought full price.  And sometimes it's not worth buying in the sale.

I also went through my buying rules over on Insta - one of those things I have been talking about for years on here - and I am about to BREAK one of them big time.

It was "don't buy something that you won't be wearing in the next month".  But one thing I have always bought in the sale are things for high summer (that's summer holidays to you and me).  As if you're clever and know what works for you, there are some clever buys to b had.

And there in lies the key - KNOWING what works for you.  Do not go off piste!  Buy things that you absolutely know you will wear.

For me - that's a certain style of summer dress and sandals.  Sandals simply don't go out of fashion.  I have had the same style that I bought from Forever 21 of all places, 6 yrs ago.  They were £15 each pair, they're not leather and they are possibly my favourite sandals!  Ironically they're very Ancient Greek in their style (the brand not the era - although they are that too!) and I've just bought another couple of pairs in the sale and it would be rude not to share as they are such bargains.

These are the ones I bought.

Thalia Coin embellished leather sandals from Ancient Greek at Matches were £145 now £43

And the gorgeous nude version.  Ok now I'm thinking just how many sandals does one need?

Thalia Coin-embellished leather sandals from Ancient Greek were £145 now £58

When you think that ones like this are a similar price on the High Street, it does make sense to consider investing in a designer brand that just have that little but more detail to differentiate them.

Desmos coin-embellished leather sandals from Ancient Greek were £155 now £46

And without a coin but in an animal print.

Desmos cheetah-print leather slides from Ancient Greek were £155 now £46

More animal magic again at Ancient Greek with some ankle detailing.  Now I know these aren't popular with some and if you have shorter legs, then certainly, having something around your lower leg can make them look shorter.  But if you are longer of limb, then these are perfect for balancing your proportions.

Estia leopard-print leather sandals were £140 now £56

Have also ordered these as I think they look comfy.  Yes I am 47 next week and comfy is a thing.

Pieria wrap-around leather sandals from Ancient Greek were £120 now £60

Some fabulous nude ones, also at Ancient Greek.

Thalia Leather Sandals from Ancient Greek were £110 now £55

Nude again at Matches from Ancient Greek.

Lito coin-embellished leather sandals was £155 now £62

A different colourway from - you've probably guessed it, my beloved Ancient Greek again.  I have these and they are SO comfy.

Evelina coin-embellished leather sandals were £145 now £72

Snake Print Slides from A.Emery also at Matches were £100 now £50

But I've found some super super bargains - all leather and all worth scooping up before the full season stock starts arriving.  As it will look very very similar but will simply be more expensive.  If you know what style works for you, it will definitely be worth investing now.

In orange leather from Depp at ASOS.

Depp leather buckle open toe mule was £70 now £22

These would be my choice...

Warehouse buckle detail mule in tan leather were £32 now £17.50

These could easily be from the Ancient Greek stable but are a lot more cost effective versions.

Aldo leather tie leg sandals were £55 now £28.50

And my absolute favourite from last year - I had mine from LabelMix but they sold out - however in the sale now at ASOS from the same designer!

E8 by Miista rope detail tie leather sandals were £69 now £27.50

And the same style in a blush colour.

E8 by Miista rope detail tie leather sandals were £69 now £27.50

Super easy to wear slide on embellished leather from ASOS DESIGN.

Fuel leather sandals were £30 now £10.50

From now on - all pics of outfits will be over on Instagram - but you won't have to head to stories to see fashion content and ideas.  I will be putting them on both.  There is a new blog format coming which will hopefully have an outfits page that I can load.. Fingers crossed.  It's been a LONG time coming and it should have been done by now and it's TOTALLY my fault as it's been ready for a while but I am such a dinosaur when it comes to technology.... procrastination is also my middle name so I have just dragged my heels at moving over to it.  Too. Scared (and too lazy) to try and learn something new!!

Watch this space - and I hope you love the sandals suggestions.  It IS lovely to be back!

  1. NEW YEAR, NEW BLOGS AND MORE (Photo: File) Story Highlights New year at the Internet site is an opportunity to get your news on and be as politically active as you can while living in a state that has elected four more Republican governors. That means people who disagree with them are still welcome online from January 1-1 or until cheap dissertation editing services replaced by someone else; if there are no candidates for governor after 12 months, they remain locked into office through 2014.
