HEATWAVE!
I'm BACK! Firstly so so super sorry that I've not been around - a whole week off. The first time I've had that long off in as long as I can remember, but honestly, it was for a very good reason.
I was working on a job with Royal Caribbean. IN THE CARIBBEAN! I was there for a week, on a cruise, taking over their Instagram. So huge apologies but it was too good an opportunity to turn down. All pics over on Instagram, but one thing you'll notice is that there is a plethora of maxi dresses.
Now, don't get me wrong, I do LOVE a maxi dress. And a midi dress. But boy it was too hot.
I know, I KNOW! I took one short dress with me which I saved for the last night. However I could have done with a plethora of them.
And... I've come home and oh hello, glorious wall to wall SUNSHINE!
'Tis an actual heatwave. My obsession with the weather app continues into the Summer - it's a year round hobby of mine. And I can tell you - that my weather app is bringing me joy. There is no rain, there is no day when it dips under 26 degrees. I also don't feel the need to check another app to see (and hope) that it's wrong - unlike my Winter obsession which has me spending waaaaay too long surfing t'interweb on my tiny mobile device, looking for a weather forecast that isn't truly depressing.
Which leads me neatly onto today's blog post which is therefore all about the short dresses.
Now I know I did this before I went away (link here) but I am sure there must be some others out there as I have to say I didn't "love" them... I was convinced at the time I could do better. Maybe it's because my heart lies in a longer length but I am determined to see if there are others out there.
Starting with plain ones...
Marks and Spencer Pure Cotton Sleeveless Shirt Dress £18
Delilah Frill Dress from hush was £65 now £40
Tegan Dress from hush £69
Moving onto a little bit more detail...
Free People Love on the Run Dress was £118 now £45.50 (this is definitely my favourite...)
Buttercup Print Wrap Dress from Warehouse £39
Checked Half Sleeve Skater Dress from M&S £29.50
Lilly Mini Dress from Free People was £100 now £59.95
Floral Smock Dress by Band of Gypsies at Topshop £32
Tora Striped Floral Dress was £98 now £69.95
Moving onto the ones that I am so so so so sorry if you can't go strapless... but for us who can, they're so useful. SORRRRRRRRRY. If it makes you feel any better, I have never in my life had any sort of cleavage. Swings and roundabouts and all that....
Ruched Bandeau Dress from Warehouse was £39 now £25
Smocked Half Sleeve Bardot Dress £15 from M&S
Paisley Print Smocked Bardot Dress from M&S £15
And... oh my lord - that was hard. I honestly thought there would be loads. Surely everyone loves a mini dress? But what do you know? The world has turned to midi and maxis. Seriously, on most websites there wasn't even an option for mini dress. I have had to trawl through to find them and even then, there aren't any that I think YAY. That's the perfect dress.
I am absolutely sure there must be more. I think I'll do a last minute trawl of the higher end sale sites to see if there are any bargains to be had, as surely these are things that you will have in your wardrobe forever? At least on the super hot days.
In the meantime, here is my one short dress that I now own!
Dress - hush (sample gift from project with The Pool)
Shoes - Pretty Ballerinas (gift current)
Bag - Atterley (ss17)
I will be back next time with my promised and not delivered Designer V High Street blog post.
In the meantime, I would love to know - what is your favourite dress length? Above the knee? And if so, a couple of inches or just above? Just below the the knee or a proper mid calf/hovering around ankle midi? Or have I converted you to the maxi side?
