Another option....

...for nights or for just a different outfit.

I've been thinking about this (whilst sat in the queue at Ikea yesterday- believe me I had some time to kill and this beat thinking about hinges and doors and whilst I was at the hospital today- annual check up for the coeliac daughter - this afternoon for THREE hours ) and it occurred to me that a jumpsuit is missing from my wardrobe.

Totally missing.  Non existent.  Not even to be found in another guise.  AWOL.

Any beady eyed individuals out there who may remember I did have one from last year, yes I did but it was the worst fabric on the planet and after two minutes of simply standing up in it, the level of creasing that materialised out of seemingly nowhere, was immense.  Which is impressive on one level and totally pants on another.  The fact that it also flashed my fried egg boobs to all in sundry, the minute I sat down was another big fat nail in its coffin.  RIP jumpsuit.

But it has made me contemplate how useful one of these would be.... Could this be my Dress item of the Season?  I have already pontificated (snort) about how I do not need another dress.  Call off the dogs (and the tights..) this could solve a multitude of issues and work for a whole host of occasions.  The old classic, dress up dress down.  Great with a blazer, a leather jacket (and wedge trainers which I am desperate to still wear as they're so darn comfy) or a classic coat.  These are worth giving some serious consideration to.  (I am going to ignore all the comments about them being rubbish to go to the loo in.  It's a given.  Don't drink so much?  Which is ironic coming from me for sure.......It's not worse than having to delicately manhandle 15 denier tights when you've had a glass or two too many....)

So whilst I'm all about the black, there is also something to be said for this khaki colour from Mint Velvet.  AND I've found a 15% discount code with free delivery and free returns.  WINTER15.  Please don't all hate me, this is worth it as they rarely do these.  Don't kill the messenger (great Chrissie presents also - I may be coming back to this at some point)

Khaki Tencel Jumpsuit £109

They also do it in black (I think I may need to go and try this tomorrow) £109  I love the idea of this during the day with ankle boots or sneakers.

There are also discounts to be had at Baukjen - I believe if you use the code TREAT914 you can get 20% off.  Now this is off first orders but in my experience if you use a different email address, this works...

These are definitely amongst my favourites.  I'll admit I thought there would be loads out there and there aren't.  At.  All.  Loads of super dressy ones - a gazillion but every day wearable ones that you could just fling on bling and heels for a night out?  Not so many.

Weston Jumpsuit £99

Also love it in the Nile Blue £99

Already reduced to £79 from £99 with 20% off - the Elisa jumpsuit in black.  Absolutely love this.

And a much dressier version (see? - they're everywhere those dressy numbers!) is the Kirkham Jumpsuit at £179 (where the 20% off would be very useful)

More bargains to be had in the Outlet section at Me+Em.

Drape Neck Jumpsuit in Black - viscose jersey crepe (machine washable!) was £98 now £49. Bargain!  This is a smart styling here - would be ideal for work with a blazer or layered with a shirt (or a layered shirt from Me+Em - I am obsessed with mine, and yes I was super lucky to snag mine in the sale.. did you snooze and lose on them?!).  I would also wear casually though, with skater shoes or my beloved white leather tennis shoes.

Now we're moving into smarter (or summer... think forward and bag this if you love it - with sandals or sneakers - this is a beaut) territory here but this would work so well in the evening.  In either the navy and white.

Halterneck Viscose Crepe Jersey Jumpsuit £68.60 was £98  (again in the machine thank you)

Or in the black. £68.60 was £98

Reiss do a smarter one in black -  I will have a look at some super glam ones shortly (I can't think about too much glamour yet... I need to hold some sparkle back)

Reiss Roco Loosely Tailored Jumpsuit £195

From the sublime to perhaps the faintly ridiculous but I do like the idea of a denim jumpsuit.  I will admit when I tried on a Zara one in the Summer, I did bare more than a passing resemblance to Handy Manny which wasn't the look I'd had in mind, but I think with a pair of stilettos and a blazer these can look ace.  Ditto with sneakers and a blazer for during the day.  Or hitops, biker jacket and huge scarf.  Dare I try them again?

Pull & Bear Denim Jumpsuit £59.99

So I had honestly thought there would be loads more but, well, there aren't.  As I say, I will be back with the dressier versions but I do love the idea of ones that I can get loads of wear out.  Cost per wear, for me, the Baukjen ones are the winners.

Now whilst I'm here, can I also apologise for not being around for the last couple of days - dare I say we're nearing the end of our ginormous house renovation and extension.  I have been asked on numerous occasions to do separate blog pages (so as not to interfere with the fashion element) on a Housey theme.  We (this is the royal we.....) have done the entire thing on a budget. I have spent hours and I mean hours and hours and hours, trying to achieve a certain look on much less money than one would expect to spend and I just wondered if this is something that people would be interested in reading?  House sneak peaks can be seen on my Instagram account @doesmybumlook40 if you'd like to have a look.

But finishing with outfits from the last couple of days.   Actually with a quick squiz at part of the kitchen (with no TV on the wall.....)

  9. I would normally NEVER consider a jumpsuit, bing tall and long in the body, but that Me + Em one is beautiful. How are they for delivery/returns? And I'd like a gander round your house too #noseymoo

  10. And a big yes from me too for a house blog. If your interiors style is half as good as your fashion style, I'm sure it will be wow!

  11. Home renovations on a budget would be a winner as most of us spend hours trying to source things at a much lower cost or trying to achieving "the look" on less than the professionals come up with.

  12. I have a jumpsuit from the summer, which I got loads of use out of. Weirdly, I was trying it on today with various jackets to see what I could do with it this Christmas. I think it'll be v useful!

I'm really liking you in burgundy and camel, they're great colours on you. And obviously I am always interested in other people's houses! (Mainly because I am fascinated by how everyone else deals with child-related mess, and why our house always looks like a bombsite compared to theirs!)

  16. Big yes to house blog - we are about to embark on something similar - waiting on planning going through. I have a Zara jumpsuit but I feel it is a bit short on me, especially as the leg cuffs are elasticated - never sure about it

  17. I'd definitely read the house blog.

The problem with the jumpsuit isn't that it's fiddly to do up, like tights. The problem is that you've got masses of fabric that you're trying desperately not to let touch the floor of the toilet cubicle. Not fun after a few drinks.

  21. House blog would be fab! You have read my thoughts here Kat, I have been trawling around the web this week for a jumpsuit for drinks with the girls. I am in love with a cami style Whistles one which was also in their sale, but sadly not in stock in my size. Am I too short for one though? I'm 5'4" without heels. Tempted to order the Me+Em one just to see, I have the most gorgeous maxi dress from their summer sale which I just about manage not to trip over!
