And just because i'm nothing if not predictable...

... I can't even contemplate talking about Summer outfits without mentioning my favourite - yes that will be the longer dress.  Maxis, obviously.  But the midi is right up there with it.  .

I know, I know, I am apologising now as I am a stuck record on this topic, but in this weather, I am erring towards a shorter midi as opposed to a maxi (a MASSIVE change - not).

Shorter but not knee flashing.  Ideal for this weather as I feel comfortable in having more exposed at top if there is more coverage of the legs (and vice versa a la yesterday's blog).  A couple of these are a must for this heatwave.  Which looks like it has no intention of being a one day wonder.  I am torn between loving being able to wear all my holiday clothes (and sneaking in the odd new one) and being a classic Brit and mentioning twenty times a day that it is TOO hot, having moaned like sheeite about how appalling the weather has been all year.  I so, so know I'm not the only one who does this.

I am soldiering on (seriously - first world problems and all that).  In a loose, midi dress.  That's new and a total bargain and ideal for this weather when all you really want to wear is a tent.

If you box clever, you can also find some gems that will work on cooler days with a denim jacket or blazer and ankle boots.  And then of course, you've got those that are purely Summer Summer Summer.  Perfect for days that are too hot to wear anything other than something loose that will double up as your holiday wardrobe.  These also work forever.

I saw this one on Saturday in London and didn't buy it.  Am now obviously kicking myself as it looks blooming marvellous.  Plus there is 30% off using the code VIP17.

Printed off-shoulder dress from Mango £39.99

Another longer one which is perfect for this weather.

Striped linen dress from Mango £39.99

This surely has my name written all over it.

Floral Wrap Dress from Mango £59.99

Floral-print flowy dress from Mango £59.99

A little more coverage with this one.  It's marmite.  It looks slightly like it's had a fight in the washing machine with a rogue underwire from a bra (we've all been there) but I'm curiously drawn to it.
Buttoned Floral Blouse Dress from Mango £49.99

Moving on from Mango and exploring some other favourite sites.

Sleeves again from Mes Demoiselles at The Outnet.

Fourgere printed crinkled dress in sand and navy was £205 now £75.85

This is from Warehouse and I've tried this on - tis perfect.  Looks a lot more expensive in the flesh - take your usual size.

Sunflower hanky hem from Warehouse was £55 now £35

Halterneck print from The Outnet.

Ella halterneck printed jersey dress from Vix was £170 now £85

Pockets. Need I say more.

Tie Back Midi Dress from Warehouse £42

Plain again at Finery London was £65 now £45  This and the next black silk Stories dress you could easily dress up with heels.

Black at & Other Stories - Silk Dress £95

White Broderie Anglaise at & Other Stories.  Unlike most & Other Stories - you can take your usual size in this.

Broderie Anglaise Midi Dress £55

Red with a small spot.

Multi print dress in red from & Other Stories £89

Another in red and this one is new at & Other Stories and I can guarantee this won't be in for long....

Embroidery Maxi dress in Red £89

Also available in blue although I think the red has more oomph.

Floral now at Finery London in their sale.

Berkley Floral Vines Dress was £99 now £49

Maxi floral again at Finery

Gladstone Garden Floral Dress was £129 now £64

Another perfect Summer option.

Boulcott Stripe Jacquard Dress from Finery London was £69 now £39

But I've saved the best till last and this one is the most perfect midi.  Your eyes are not deceiving you, this is not a Dodo Bar Or dress but it genuinely feels identical.  For less than £20 now.  I would go so far as to say, the pompoms are even sewn on better (as in none of them have fallen off today after wearing it and when I tried a Dodo dress on, they were falling off like confetti in the changing room).

Red Herring Red and white dress from Debenhams was £39.00 now £19.50

And here I am in my £20 Not-dodo bargain.

Dress - Red Herring at Debenhams
Sandals - Forever21
Hat - Penmayne of London
Basket - TK Maxx

How are we all coping in the heat?  Tomorrow, I will be back with one of a couple of ideas - including one you can wear to work.  Perfect for those of you who aren't into dresses.  Ideal for this weather as well.

It's Monday night, it's still 28 degrees... it would be frankly rude not to have a glass of rose wouldn't it?

Nope, I'm going to be good.  I am going to save myself for Ascot on Thursday.   And a lovely weekend doing lots of family stuff - school Summer fair which is the best Pimms fest ever.

And how is your sales shopping going?  SPILL!!!!

  1. I love the Red Herring Pom Pom dress, but I'm 5' 5" so it'll probably be far too long on me........

I love the majority of what you post both on the blog and daily on Insta. Since I began following you, you've encouraged me to see my wardrobe in a totally new light, mixing things up outside of my comfort zone and also not saving things 'for best' but making them workable for every day. You're really not good for my bank balance though
