Red shoes no pants

Is that a saying?   This is what a friend of mine at university always used to say and it's sort of always stuck with me. (clearly nothing beneficial education wise - just that).

Can I however, please point out that when I do wear red shoes I ABSOLUTELY do wear pants.  Just needed to clear that up in case anyone thought otherwise - I definitely need to disabuse you of that notion.

Saying that - I only have a pair of red boots and a pair of red loafers.  But I have always longed for a pair of red shoes (WITH PANTS).  I feel that I do a blog on this every year and have never managed to find the perfect pair.

So I'm going at it again.  This is one of those "obsession" blog posts.  It wasn't what I had planned to do today at all, but yesterday when I was getting dressed and wondering what frock to wear and with what shoes - it occurred to me (again) that a pair of red shoes would be perfect and go with pretty much everything I own.

Kicking off with...

Marrakech Block Heel from Topshop £65

And these which I am GUTTED to say aren't in my size.  *weeps*   No, seriously sobbing.

Suede Fringe Sandalette £69

The Aquazzura original Wild Things £490

And clearly I'm late to the party as these are simply gorgeous and again, out of stock in my size.  I may have to go on a hunt for these...

KG Horatio High Heel Sandals were £140 now £69

Actually some more sizes available at Shoeaholics

Stiletto High Vamp Sandals in red from M&S £35

Or slightly higher.  Now these look ming a ring ding here.  That I will admit.  The leather looks rank, the red isn't the best red, if I'm honest they look a tad (very) nasty here.

They're not.  As I have tried them and WISH I'd bought them.  They are gorgeous.

Randy Soft Leather Sandals from Topshop £56

Or lipstick red suede at Aquazzura.

Ami tie back suede sandals were £420 now £252

These however could be just the ticket.  Lower, bargain price and perfect for dresses, skirts and trousers.

Dune Marl Loppy Mid Sandals were £80 now £48

Mid heels.

In boot form.

Malbec Sock Boots from Topshop £79

But - oh be still my beating heart.  These.  Total marmite but holy moly, I blooming love these.  Forget the sandals - these are what I need.  For A/W, for now (ignoring the sweaty plates of meat factor), these have got my name all over them.  Feel free to tell how much they ming.  I fear I won't be deterred.  I have had so much wear from my leopard Tabitha Simmons ankle boots, I could justify these (on sale of a kidney or a child...).  Maybe I should try the Topshop ones first though.  I'll do that.  That's a much more sensible idea (who am I and what have I done with myself?).  It also helps that you can't order these Marant boots yet.

Daevol stretch-leather ankle boots from Isabael Marant £610

In shoe form..

Jackie V-cut kitten heels from Topshop £52

Stiletto again in lower - ideal for those who want the look of a heel without them being vertiginous.

Suede Stiletto High Vamp Sandals £45

Suede Sandalette Mule from & Other Stories £79

With a ruffle.  My friend has these in the gold and she loves them.  Perfect for those who don't want a high heel.

Suede Block Heel Ruffle Sandals from M&S £45

Then flat flat.  I heart these times a thousand.

Fringe Slip on Sandals from & Other Stories £65

Suede Thong Sandals £55 from & Other Stories

ASOS Fiona Tie Leg Sandals £10

Flat sandal wise they did have the most amazing rope ones last year in Topshop that I didn't buy.  And now wish I did.  Duh.  These are similar but not pure red.  I have to say I'm rather liking these..

Hacienda Braided Ribbon Sandals from Topshop £24

I am in red shoe heaven.  The irony being that I have a pair of red loafers that I don't wear as much as I should at all.  I am really going to get into my loafer gig this Autumn.  Famous last words...

Anyway - one of the dresses yesterday that I thought needed red shoes.  Although I have to say, the bone Marant sandals did the job very well.

Dress - Preen Line
Sandals - Isabel Marant
Soho Disco bag - Gucci

And today, feeling slightly worse for wear - cricket for three hours followed by a party for 14 children.   I shall be applying for martyrdom in the morning.

Jumpsuit - hush
Orange bag - Anya Hindmarch
Copeland sneakers - Air & Grace

Tomorrow, I will be back - got lots up my sleeve, it could be handbags, clutches or beauty.  Or dresses.  I know some of you are super ante the dress blogs but I am always always being asked for more by others and seeing as they are my favourite thing... (so apologies in advance).

  2. Oh lordy, those soft red topshop sandals are divine. They remind me a bit of Balenciaga glove shoes. However, think they might be a bit too high for me. Also love the Marants. Buy , buy , buy! I have a thing for sock boots.

    1. I KNOW! I tried them on in Bath. They are divine but you're right - totally vertiginous. I've ordered the TS boots. Just to scratch the itch. The Marants aren't even available yet... Last year, Matches did that and they didn't go online until FREAKING OCTOBER!!!!!!!

  4. My £19.99 red (ahem) suede sandals from H&M had their first wear out last night to a wedding doo. Felt fabulous, even managed to dance in them. They did have to come off though for the walk home down the Royal Mile cobbles :)

  11. Fur coat nae knickers is the one I know too. Which is good because I have lots of red shoes and lots of pants :D I have the same problem with red shoes that I have with black clothes. I try them on in other colours and always end up buying the red (/black) or wishing they had them in red (/black). I've already looked at some of your red shoes that I don't need in other colours which I do need but only really love them in red. Bah. xx

  14. I have the M&S ones (Not worn them yet, but look really nice with jeans) and a great pair of Steve Madden flat sandals, bought at Dillards in the US last year that are proper dupes of the Aquazzura Wild Things, but flat (of course). As I remember, there was also a heeled version that was a total replica but for under £100. Can't find them on Dillards' website, which is a shame as they'll ship internationally, but might be worth a Google search as they are truly fab. I have worn mine to death and LOVE them.

  16. Hi Kat - a bit late reading this post so I hope you see this comment... I don't know if you ever shop on Zalando - great for last season and current season branded goods, with free 100 day returns. They have the red Aquazzura Wild Things dupes by Trussardi Jeans - they look IDENTICAL!! Only 2 pairs each of 6 and 7s left - https://www.zalando.co.uk/trussardi-jeans-sandals-red-t0811l000-g11.html . I've personally had great experience with Zalando and have found a few 'sold out' on there. Lou. X ps they also have the red KG Horatio in 6 available, but they haven't got them at the reduced price - RUDE lol! X
