Delving..

..into the dregs of the sale.  It's the one day in forever when it's cold.  Ok so it's not cold cold but it's raining and it's miserable (and for once in my life, I'm loving it - file that under "things I very very rarely say".  Oh and please let it be sunny again tomorrow).

So I've got my Autumnal head on and am taking a fresh look at the tale end of the sales and thinking about what we'll be wearing in a matter of weeks.  I hate to break it you folks but I reckon you can count down in weeks to the arrival of Autumn.

Ok so that's ludicrously depressing seeing as the kids haven't even broken up from school yet and we DO still have a portion (albeit a small portion.. ok I'll stop now) of the summer to enjoy.

But in the meantime, I'm hunkering down against the rain and am on the velvet hunt.

Yes, you read that right, velvet.

Without further justification, let's get stuck in and first up, a blazer, that as soon as the kids are back at school, you will be thanking me in spades for having purchased.  I am also going to get my Rockins on and wear this with a tee and a silk scarf, jeans and ankle boots.  See...

Velvet blazer from Mango was £49.99 now £29.99

Black again at La Redoute and from a tip off I had yesterday, I think you might be able to get 30% off everything - apparently including sale - using the code SAVE30 (it's worth a go....)

Velour Jacket was £79 now £47.40 in black (pre extra discount)

Or in the navy - was £79 now £31.60 (pre extra 30%)

Upping the budget at Raey...

BUT you could make it into a suit.  How amazing would this be to take you into Autumn.  For a special occasion?   Dare I mention Christmas party?  A great one to have in the bag.

Single button velvet blazer from Raey was £595 now £238

And the matching trousers which could work just as well on their own.

Flared Velvet Trousers were £425 now £170

More trousers now and these look gorgeous.

Ascoltare wide leg velvet trousers from Stella Jean was £270 now £162

Skinny jeans in velvet - perfect with a tee and blazer now, silk blouse and heels for Autumn evenings.

JBrand Tori Moto Skinny Jeans were £332 now £166

Blouse now at Finery London in the sale.

Clovelly Devore Printed Velvet Blouse was £85 now £34

But it's not all for purely Winter.

Velvet Blouse from Mango was £49.99 now £15.99

Velvet jumpsuit from Madewell now £180 now £90

Another jumpsuit at La Redoute was £69 now £34.50 (pre extra discount)

Anderson's Velvet Belt from Net A Porter was £115 now £58

Shoes... (so not the most practical in the rain).

Acne Studios Amina Collapsable Heel was £360 now £214

And boots from my favourite winter boot designer - Penelope Chilvers.  I have a pair of her velvet boots from last year and I can testify to their amazing, amazing quality.  The most hard wearing velvet boots I have ever seen.  I thought they would be trashed within v short order but they look as good as the day I got them.  With regards to the rain - I wore mine in the rain loads (ok so I didn't go for a hike in them but they definitely got wet) and they still look as good as new.

Cubana Velvet Boot from Penelope Chilvers were £269 now £129 in Forest Green

And in black, again now only £129 in black down from £269

And here I am in very summery clothes.  This is obviously not from today...

Fuchsia dress - Zara
Bag - Gucci
Onyx leather jacket - hush
Superstar sneakers - Golden Goose

But this one is.  This is this morning - when it wasn't raining at all.  Before going to lunch with the husband after our amazing night away at The Slaughters Manor House.  For a full tour - head over to Instagram and have a look at Instastories.  It is total interiors porn - seriously luscious.  The perfect combination of traditional, modern and eclectic - a hint of masculinity whilst still being deliciously female at the same time.  Genius.

And here I am on the front drive.  Oh and I also have drive and garden envy too.  Did I also mention the eight course tasting menu with matching wines that we had last night?  Or cocktails at the gin bar?  We now holiday in dog years.  One night away is the equivalent of a long weekend.  We can dispatch the children for one night each to friends but as we now have no family who will help us out over the weekend after my mum passed away - holidaying in dog years is how we roll now.

Embroidered top - & Other Stories
Midi fringed skirt - & Other Stories
Red boots - Topshop
Clutch - Clare Vivier
Earrings - Mango

That was obviously before the rain.  It is now chucking it down here.  There can be nothing better than spending the evening with a thai curry and salivating over velvet.  Enjoy all, as I'm off to a school concert.  Oh how I love the end of year... Must try not to nap (may have one cocktail too any after dinner.. ouch!).

  1. I think the code for La Redoute expires at midnight - I got the text at 6.30 yesterday evening and it said it was valid for 30 hours. Hope it was useful! tempted by the navy velvet jacket (£22 with all the discounts applied) but the daughters talked me out of it, on account of the fact I have 3 velvet blazers ("But none of them are NAVY!") Kind of obsessing over the bronze sequins in the first image though.

  3. Love a velvet blazer - bought one (I'm sure on your recommendation) circa Christmas time and looking forward to digging it back out. I'm super tempted by those flared velvet trousers but with the Scottish rain probably not a great idea! xx
