Monday Must Have

Wow, Monday comes around quickly...

But today, I have THE best, very short but very, very necessary item that a lot of you are going to love.  Not all of you (and I'm sure no one wants to love everything every week...) but this is something that people have been asking me about for ages.

And I have linked to them on Instagram before but I reckon I get asked about this pretty much more than anything else.

How do I curl my hair?

People always think I'm going to say some exceptionally expensive fancy wand thingy.  Well, it is a wand thingy but it's not exceptionally expensive and it's definitely not fancy.  In fact it actually looks randomly like a dildo.  Yes the conversation usually goes "is it the one that looks like a dildo?"... "yup, the pink dildo".

I have tried loads.   I have another one that is more tapered on the end but it gives a tighter curl as opposed to a looser one.  I also have a much more expensive big barrel wand that's too big to work on shorter hair.  Then there's the traditional tong style with the extra bit that flips out and clamps onto your hair, but that gives a funny flicky bit at the end.  GHD's I love - for straight hair.  I have watched a gazilliion You Tube vids on how to curl your hair with GHD's.  That makes it look so easy.  SO easy.  It's not.  Well it probably is but I have the attention span of a newt and so I can't manage it.

THIS works.  I got mine from TKMaxx for about the same price on a total whim.

And it really is the most perfect wand, shapewise, girthwise (oh you know what I mean...) and it heats up super quickly AND is ideal for travelling.

Remington CI2725 was £19.95 now £14.95

The one tip I have is when you want to use it, there is no on switch, you just pull out the wand bit until it clicks.

Ta Dah!  So there you are.  For anyone who themselves wants perfect waves (even I can do it..) or is looking for that last minute extra present.   This is the only wand that I use and can do my whole head in 5 mins.

Finishing with my outfit from Saturday which I forgot to post yesterday.  We had the loveliest day - trip to Star Wars (which is amazing but much longer than I'd expected) and then family lunch at our favourite pub restaurant - The Kentish Hare in Bidborough (near TWells).

I am currently deliberating what to wear to a party tonight in the Cotswolds.  It's not like me to leave it till the last minute - this could go one of two ways.... sometimes it definitely works out for the best (I'm not going to think of the alternative!).

One week to go guys.. how's the Christmas shopping going?!

  1. The curling dildo is currently reduced to a tenner on the TK Maxx website, Kat. I have invested on your recommendation...

    2. Def need a vid please _ I've had a go but I'm v awkward with it and not sure how to avoid burning my fingers - the glove it came with makes it too hard to use!

  5. I curl my hair with ghds which is really easy and doesn't involve any chance of finger burn which I suspect a wand does if you have hair like mine! Do you have a natural wave anyway Kat? I have half a present left to buy, all the wrapping to do and still to sort out what we are eating (long story) which would be perfectly reasonable if I didn't have a trip to the panto, several things on at school, and a night out to contend with :O Also need to take my car in for new brake pads :-( Really, I just want to pour a mulled cider (delicious but with a whole bottle of Calvados in it really quite alcoholic) and make my sales list ;-) xx

    1. Sales list - how have you not made it already?!! I do have a natural wave and yes, my hair does take a curl very well. I STILL have some ordering left to do... and then have to remember to check they turn up and then wrap them. ARGGHH!!! I have a big day out tomorrow but feel horrendous so will probably hunker down today and try and get better..

    1. I do have one of them but find it gives curls rather than waves? I have to say I never use it any more and always just use the cheapo dildo version!

  8. Very tempted to try I have a few contraptions but anything that is speedy sounds good to me. Especially if I can make my hair anywhere near as glam as yours Kat.

  9. Sorry I'm a bit behind the times, have only recently started reading your blog, but hallelujah (just had to google spelling of that)! thank you for the curly wand tip. I have v straight hair and sometimes hanker after a loose, cool wave. Have tried to get this look with my daughter's Remington one which is a tapered wand and just end up looking a bit mad woman (not sure why as when I do hers she looks lovely - prob because she's 13 and I'm 47) so will give this one a whirl. Thank you x
