Distraction time...

SALES....

Ok so seemingly gone are the days when we all had to try and stay sober until midnight on Christmas Day so we could get cracking super early on the Boxing Day sales....

Oh no. The sales have started. Like properly started. As in, you can get things for Christmas, as opposed to starting a bit.. but really starting on the 23rd so you haven't got time for it be delivered.

GO FORTH AND START SHOPPING. For yourself. As I'm going large (on the wish list). This is the luxury sales shop. My birthday is handily in January which, as I'm typing this means absolutely diddly squat as.. well... Happy Christmas to me. I will also say that I have heard the husband mention both a Kitchen Aid and Personal Training sessions for Christmas. I'm just going to leave that there. I know that some people would absolutely LOVE those. Horses for courses but suffice to say, they're not top of my wishlist, nor do they feature vaguely near the top. Or on it all, to be honest....

However, useful they would be and obviously I would be incredibly grateful for any gift received.

But in the meantime, I shall just be doing a little bit of wishlist making on the side, just in case.

Starting with the trainers that I honestly, honestly thought I would go off over the years. But haven't. I first bought mine in the sale from a website that doesn't even exist any more and have worn them pretty much every week for the past 3 years.

I'm in for a pair of hi tops.

These aren't in my size...DANG IT.

OMG OMG OMG These shoes.... I love them. I would never ever EVER wear them. I would want to wear them, I would put them on, I would feel like a tosser and I would take the off. And stroke them and talk to them and love them from afar. But as for wearing them? Nope. I know I wouldn't. I have bought ones like this and tried. I can't make them work *weeps*. (but this is my leopard dress - sold out, sorry - and genius new way to wear it).

And then THE DRESSES!!! So I am not in need of a dress. Yes, you heard that correctly. I actually have one very similar to this from & Other Stories last year. Except that I believe I was going through a v thin phase and if you so much as eat a pea in normal weight times you can see it. Hence I have worn it the sum total of once... but it's reminded me how much I love it. Hmm maybe I can shoehorn myself into it for New Year. Isn't that what Spanx are for? And dim lighting?

But finishing with my favourites. Perfection in a jumper and could anything be more appropriate?

So I need to stop looking as my boys are FIGHTING upstairs as I type (seriously - how hard is it to stay out of each other's bedrooms? I shouldn't really moan as, compared to some, I'm lead to believe they don't really fight that much at all so I am belly aching on for nothing), I went to sort them out earlier and the dog ate my dinner. Which wasn't a dinner so much as a treat of one of those boxes of party food that I love, washed down with a mini bottle of prosecco (that she didn't drink...!!). But I was soo looking forward to it and now I am on poor dog diarrhoea watch for the night and I need to STOP looking at the sales otherwise I won't be held responsible for what I order.

But you must share if you get anything...pretty please?!

I am now on the hunt for presents for the husband. The children are 99% sorted and I've even wrapped them which is the first miracle of Christmas for years. Any ideas for bigger presents for the husband very gratefully received. He wants a loop pedal or something but I'd like to get him a surprise... maybe I *should* just have another look at the sales... I haven't looked at the Net sale yet (someone stop me).

But not just any shoes.

The, not so humble any more, trainers.

I should back up my truck a bit and point out that this is one of those "random from nowhere as something odd happened,/she saw something weird/she's obsessed with something new" blogs.

Yes, it is about trainers and yes it is about trainers with a bit more oomph. But not ones that are super scary - not trying to reinvent the wheel here, just had a bit of a revelation that I thought I'd share.

Trainers that just speak for themselves. I haven't done any research for this, so not entirely sure how it's going to end up but it's starting with back to the old school and green Converse hi tops.

Why you might ask? Well, why not I say. As I am now the proud owner of a new pair. That I ridiculously randomly bought from an antique shop in Suffolk. Clearly they're not antique in the slightest - they're actually brand new and were sat there, nestling amongst the wooden tennis rackets, bed pans and other random stuff that you find in an "antique shop" these days.

Spied by the husband, totally missed by me (much to the amusement of the 10yr old "how did you not see them? They're BRIGHT green" - he has a point) but when I saw that they were my size, brand new and £15, well I couldn't leave them there, could I?

And I think I might be addicted. You may remember I did a post on hi tops not too long ago, touting the prospect of them and saying I thought I may invest in the Autumn.

The Autumn came early and £15 later, I am the proud owner of full on, see me coming a mile away, need no intro, trainers.

And I blooming love them.

Which got me to thinking. This white trainer nonsense that I've been spouting for years (can I please just point out that I don't think it's actually nonsense, there is definitely a new pair of white trainers on my A/W wish list - I honestly think they'll bury me in a pair but let's call it poetic license for the sake of this blog?) - let's put that aside and focus on trainers that are all about the character.

First up - let's see the evidence..

Green Converse hi tops.

I'd love to say I've found others for £15, alas I haven't and I can't even find the same green ones for full price.

The nearest I could find to the shade was these from adidas.

These though would look amazing with all shades of khaki, greens, blues and greys.

Speaking of khaki...

Converse PL 76 Hi Trainers were £70 now £45.50 (I know these are on a man but there's virtually no difference between men's and women's trainers).

Or they have these left in a 40...

But not forgetting the classic Converse hi top and I have to say, I rather like the red.

If you are looking for a bargain though, there are some more unusual colours in the sale.

Pink (although I would say it's pinky purple) in the sale at Schuh was £50 now £34.99

Personally though, I would probably invest that little bit more and buy ones I know I would wear and wear and wear. So the red ones... OR... oh hello burgundy.

If you haven't looked at the Flannels sale, then I would grab a glass of wine and your credit card and treat yourself to a couple of hours of BLISS. Thanks to one of my lovely best friends who pointed this out to me... that's me sorted later with one eye on Planet of The Apes (the first ones which I've seen loads, the 8yr old wants to rewatch them before we head to the cinema to see the third one this week).

And now I'm upping the ante. DO remember these are a great, great reduction. And there is no where else you will find these still in sale, for these prices, of that I am (pretty..!) confident.

Or... must resist must resist must resist.. I know these aren't even remotely out there but... well... they've got glitter on them??! Silver laces... If you were thinking about buying a pair of expensive trainers this season, these are surely an absolute no brainer?

I really REALLY shouldn't like these green adidas... but I sort of do. Maybe I need a lie down. I think it might be because I've had my head turned by the new style of Balenciagas (I will be exploring these another day - they are a MUCH bigger step out of my comfort zone than even a pair of green Converse). Just leaving these hear for the minute - merely as they're green.

Have I managed to persuade you to branch away from the white trainers? Or maybe you weren't a fan of white ones in the first place and these are a much better idea anyway. I know lots of people who fear white trainers make their feet look on the large side and prefer a colour anyway. I'm definitely in and I fear it's the start of a slippery slope.

Green today - I'm back with yellow tomorrow. So sick and tired of waiting for the sunshine, I'm going on a search for my own.

The year round favourite

Trainers.

I simply cannot get enough of them. And testament to how useful they are - I even managed to wear them to a party yesterday. Festival theme - maxi dress, trainers, tick tick.

Were I to write a list of must have items, the trainers would definitely definitely be on them. I am going to throw it out there that with just my ankle boots and trainers - I would be sorted. I do love sandals in the Summer but I don't find they send my heart racing like sneakers and boots.

The rules now say that they go with everything. And are the perfect all year round shoe solution. Which means it's ridiculously easy to justify a new pair - seeing as they also work as slippers, dog walking shoes, work shoes and even party shoes.

I do have a penchant for an expensive pair (I'm not going to bang on about cost per wear again but if you need an explanation...) so the sales are the perfect time to go trainer hunting.

Something for everyone here - so long as you're a mostly white trainer fan. This is definitely my poison of choice. Yes I have others but what do I always come back to? That'll be the white ones. Although I am tempted to ring the changes with some hi-tops. Something I've flirted with for a while and never quite made the leap of faith. I make it sound like I'm getting a tattoo or something equally as life changing. But who knows, maybe they will be. Interestingly, I will say that I do know for lots of people - the purchase of their first trainers IS life changing (in the first world sense of life changing that is.....)

First up, I'm going big. Could I love these any more? A hint of leopard, a metallic lace. And Saint Laurent....

But bargain of the day has to be from Net a Porter - not something that you get to say very often, but when it comes to trainers and the Net a Porter sale, there's always a bargain.

Here I am yesterday for the big Gleam party in my all my sneaker glory. The theme was Festival. Loved the dress, loved the trainers - THE most amazing party ever. A total honour to be part of such an awesome company - the entire team at Gleam are simply superb. Met the tranche of young (ridiculously famous) You Tubers and honestly - what an amazing bunch they are. Imagine having to peel the 12yr old of the ceiling as she gets a video message dedicated to her from Zoella! She is going to be dining out on that for the next five years.

London tomorrow for a breakfast with Skinceuticals who are one of my favourite skincare brands and then meetings before school run dash, the battle to do homework but with the carrot of going swimming afterwards, it hopefully shouldn't be too painful. Seeing as it's going to be glorious again tomorrow.

I'm going to see if I can try some hi tops on in London tomorrow and will report back. Does anyone actually prefer their hi tops to low tops (are they even called that? Low versions? Normal sneakers? Too much brain expenditure for one evening - I'm off to catch up on Say Yes to the Dress. Have just discovered the Atlanta version on some obscure Sky channel.
