My favourite buys of the season (which are mostly now in the sale...)

Actually it's pretty much from the start of the Summer as well, as the A/W season did seem to start way back when I was on holiday in August and some of these are from then.

So what have I loved?  Now here's an interesting one.  It's not what I thought I would.  Let me rephrase that - I thought I would have worn different things and I put that down, not to me not liking those outfits, but the lack of cold weather.  I thought I would be snuggled up in chunky knits and my selection of biker style boots.   But barely a day has gone by when I haven't been able to flash the ankles.  Winter?  What Winter?

However that's not to say that I won't be wearing these come January/February so I will include some of my "proper Winter" faves.

But starting with those items I have worn and worn and worn and now are mostly in the sale.  I will continue to wear these into the Spring so they are still great buys.  Seeing as I'm still wearing them on a daily basis, these are proving to be bargainous.

Top of the pops has been my fringed bag.  It appears that I have been drawn to wearing a lot more plain outfits - seemingly the cleaner lines have worked for me during most of this year but a bit of fringing on my bag has been the perfect outfit finisher.  It's the ideal size too, not too big and not too small.

The Mario bag from Jerome Dreyfuss now only £285 from £475 at Coggles

Clearly I can't not mention my new favourite sneakers.  I am determined to convert the world.

Golden Goose Superstar trainers from Selfridges was £290 now £145

Not many in the sale but I honestly think these are worth paying full price for.  (I did pay full price for one of mine but then along came Black Friday and I got them for 40% off however I had planned on stumping up the whole lot.)

Super Star Sparkle Low top sneakers from Golden Goose £280

Speaking of full price - I am in love with my 1970 Bella Freud jumper in the red, but oh my lord, in the pink, it is amazing.  Alas, it's a) in cashmere so heinously expensive and b) it's out of stock in my size already!

Bella Freud 1970 wool jumper in cashmere £380

Alternatively there is the neon pink at the "cheaper" price... and yes, already sold out in my size AGAIN.

Bella Freud 1970 jumper £280

Back to footwear and boots that I bought last year that I have again worn lots and will continue to wear into the Spring are the Toga Pulla boots.

Some now in the sale at Farfetch.

Embossed burgundy buckle boots by Toga were £290 now £145

Toga Pulla embossed boots in red were £290 now £145

And the Camel again only £145

But now let's look at my bargain finds of the season and you may or may not have noticed that for me, it's the season of the black skinnies.  I have lived in them, morning noon and night and the best thing is , most of them were super affordable.  So much so that I have actually stocked up on the New Look

Boden High Rise Super Skinny jeans in waxed black £55.20 - limited sizes left  These are definitely waxed ie coated as opposed to pleather looking... There are many more sizes in the Porridge wax which, actually I'll get lots more wear of into the Spring.

Now for the "are they aren't they" leather numbers which are EXCELLENT from New Look...yes I bought two pairs as they are that good.

Black High Waisted Coated Skinnies £24.99

And of course I couldn't not mention the real leather leggings which have saved my "out out" bacon on pretty much every single occasion I've wanted to feel great.  I cannot recommend them highly enough but dang it - the hush ones I have are OOS (but it's always worth bookmarking the page as they do get returns.. (I'm sure someone said their returns go up at 1am or something?  Sorry that's probably about as much use as a chocolate teapot)

However whilst looking for the Boden jeans, I did come across these, which I thought looked definitely worth a try.

Leather Leggings from Boden were £399 now £159.60 - amazing reduction.  I think these have slipped through the net and just not been on your average Boden Customer's radar.  Go forth and get a bargain.

Now I had thought I'd be snuggled up all Winter in my "acquired in early September when I was still in a tee-shirt" Acne cardigan.  I have worn it but not nearly as much as I had anticipated.  However that doesn't mean it won't get its outing daily in Jan/Feb as we battle knee deep snow (no I don't know anything, I made that up).  Here's hoping.  I have the khaki but that does seem to be sold out but the teal and the (bargain) grey are still out there.  And the grey is still full price most places.

Acne Studios Alan Wrap in dark teal was £300 now £210

Or the Grey one which is now reduced to £178 at Monnier Freres.

What I have been living in though, in this ridiculously mild weather, is this from Me+Em which I have posted a lot but I'm posting again as I have a) worn it loads b) plan on wearing it even more and c) is now a bargain.

Flannel Longline Blazer from Me+Em was £215 now £107.50

And of course, it goes without saying - my hush blazer which I have lived in for a year now.  I got it last Spring and honestly, I think I have worn it every week.  In fact, had it on today.  The hush sale hasn't started started yet, but there is a pre sale 20% off everything and so much has sold out, if you want anything, I would suggest you don't wait!

hush Black Jacket was £65 now £52

So clearly this isn't an exhaustive list but this has taken me two whole days to go as I have been so sidetracked by other sales things!  I need to do a part two of this which I will bring you later in the week.

Now my outfits from the last couple of days... Dog walk.  Then lunch with the inlaws which I ditched the hat, scarf and boots (and socks) and donned my red Jemima Vine shoes.

So I did manage to snag a couple of bargains with in the sale which I will report back on, maybe Thursday as tomorrow is my mum's funeral.  Obviously I had complete panic coat buying today, one of which I bought as I thought I "should".  The other I bought as I LOVED it and so I'm going to plump for that one.

Can I just take this opportunity to say the hugest thank you for all the messages, comments and emails that I have had offering support and anecdotes.  I can't thank you enough.

PS.  Things I've learnt today.  If you have a couple of large glasses of wine whilst trying to finish a blog, it will take you three times as long as you have to retype everything five times.  In case anyone was interested.....

On another note, just wanted to say I love your blog. I check it every day and your writing always makes me chuckle. As another poster has said, I love your edits and it makes me want to try things I would never have normally gone for - case in point, Weitzman Lowland boots (which I love!!!) and I have just ordered the Hush Jumpsuit (really hoping it looks good on a 5ft 5 shorty like me!)

  17. Sending you good thoughts for today.
Please could we have a "fab outfits for dog walking" post for thoseof ys permanently in a horrible old parka and ancient jeans? I can't even manage to get decent waterproof boots, 3 pairs in the last 2yrs and they all leak. You always look amazing, and as any day where I don't have the time or energy to change becomes a dog walking outfit day all day, I need help! !

  21. Thinking of you and your family today... Sending virtual hugs and positive thoughts. Now the funeral is over you will enter a new phase of grieving as you continue your life. And remember there is no rule book, we all handle grief differently. For the first 6 months or so after my mum died I imagined she was away on holiday ( and that's why I hadn't seen her) as it was the only way I could manage the fact she was no longer around. Even now 6 and a half long years later I find myself thinking " I must ring mum and tell her that..... She'll laugh" and then it dawns on me that she's not around although I like to think that perhaps she is and she's always aware of what we are all doing.
On a lighter note, regarding sales bargains, I managed to snaffle the FCUK atomic coat in camel (that you mentioned in a blog in late November) for half price online. I had been dithering about ordering it since then so imagine my delight at finding it half price. Result! It's only a bargain if you really need/want it and I was going to pay full price so it's definitely a bargain ( as long as it fits)

    1. Thank you xxx I've gone through being sad and I've been cross with her (Which again I understand is normal) and now I'm at the relieved stage that she didn't suffer and didn't end up too infirm. However that doesn't make it not sad. I always used to call her when I went to Bluey and that's been a real bolt of shock every time I've gone and can't speak to her.

That coat is amazing - fab buy xx

  22. Sending you hugs and prayers for tomorrow. I lost my mom 10 years ago and it was almost unbearably hard at first as it was very sudden/unexpected and she was in a different country so I never got to say goodbye to her. It does get easier as time passes and I do remember feeling guilty at first when I would catch myself laughing or enjoying myself. In hindsight, I think I should have been easier on myself and I hope you will be as well and that's it's ok to feel whatever you are feeling, both good and bad. It's great you are surrounded by so much love and I hope and believe you will find your strength from that and from within.

Btw I finally succumbed to the temptation of Me&Em and made my first purchase online - including your grey blazer (which I would never have bought from just the modelled pics, but you wear it so well and your recommendations have worked so well for me!)

    1. I have to say I don't think I'm being too hard on myself as I do know that's not what she would have wanted. Although I have felt guilty at being cross with her but I understand that's normal.

I guarantee you will love the me+em purchases. Warning though - it's addictive...!

  23. I hope all went as well as it could yesterday. You were in my thoughts as I'm sure you were for many of your readers.

I am awaiting the hush jumpsuit in both colours so hopefully one of other will suit me. Also got a second pair of wrist warmers as they are the best addition to my winter-ish wardrobe.
Other than that I decided to return two cheapest handbags which cost €80 together and save up for a nice quality small bag instead. In red or maroon. That's my goal for the coming months.

  25. Hi Kat, I am keen to shout myself a Bella Freud jumper but am not sure about sizes. I remember you saying that yours was a large but not that large (or words to that effect!). I am a size 12 and was wondering whether a large would be big enough? I am going to buy your Me + Em blazer and get the pants to go with it as I work in a suit kind of environment. It's a bargain price for a suit. Happy new year. Cas

    1. Oh you will love the Me+Em suit for sure. RIght, I would say it's easily a 12 but I'm not sure if it works, as I think I've said already, if you have large boobage. Hope that helps...!
