A stream of consciousness...

... or should that be unconsciousness... a day out in London with 5 10 and 11 yr olds at The London Dungeon does leave a jaded 42 year old exhausted.  I was lucky to have two friends to accompany me and actually it was a really good laugh.  Well, a really good scare - it is in fact very frightening and there is no way I could have taken my younger two.  I would though, highly highly recommend it if you haven't been.

Which leads me to what will probably be a lot of not particularly productive research for the elusive "night out top".  On my return home tonight was my All Saints order and I am gutted to report that the Elan top, just wasn't quite what I had thought it would be.  I need to try the Medium on again but the Large was just too big, too baggy with too much fabric.  I had hoped it would cover a multitude of sins but it just looked like I was trying to hide more (if that makes sense.... )

So leaving that to one side, I am definitely in the market this Autumn for tops that are just that little bit more special than those every day ones we wear.

First off - oh hello French Connection, I knew I could rely on you.

This I LOVE.  The perfect combo of a little bit of glitz but still a hint of casual about it.  One for the list to try.  I'd happily also wear this during the day with a pair of faded jeans and a black long cardi with ankle boots.

Sparkle Nights Textured Top £60

Arrow Crepe Tunic £65  This is very similar to the black one I have from Zara last year (that I wore the other night that lots of people commented on) but would (fingers crossed...) be of a much better quality.  They also do this in black as well.  This over leather leggings would be perfection.

Another option... a sweater but one again that can be worn out at night.  Satin body with sheer arms.  And in a riot red as they call it - I would personally say it's a tangerine but it's a lovely Autumnal addition to your night out wardrobe.

Lou Lou Satin Sweater £58 also from FCUK

They also do it in a Winter White which I have to say I adore with these trousers.  Gosh I love this look.   And available in a Midnight as well as a Black.

However I think my completely favourite FCUK top has to be the genius genius addition of sequins to a classic breton.  Oh.  Yes.

Railroad Stars Sequin Top £45 And I don't really think this is a bad price either.  I shall try this on tomorrow and report back.

Back to black and something a little less every day with a high neck blouse from Warehouse.  They do have a sale on at the moment but frankly there was very little that caught my eye.  This isn't in the sale but I think with leather leggings this could be amazing - or a leather mini skirt.  Or I think teaming it with a pair of distressed boyfriends and heels could be ideal for the pub.  Or for a very casual evening, how about a pair of ballet flats  (ooh actually, cropped cigarette and black ballet flats...) Gorgeous.

Black Embroidered High Neck Top £42

So this is just a little taster of what's to come as I have to go and supervise homework... new desks in their rooms for two little boys = me running up and down as they get stuck.  This isn't exactly what I had envisaged, I am going to make a camp on one of their beds till they finish.  And then I have to wrap presents for the 8yr old's birthday tomorrow.

Thank heaven's for a v keen 11yr old who has iced cakes (bought from Lidl can I please point out... their mini muffins are amazing) for school for him.  I am mortified to admit she does a better job than I could possibly do.

Outfit from today - yes we did get wet.

Untitled

Red and navy breton - H&M
Real Straight jeans - Gap
Trench - Banana Republic
White cracked leather Stan Smiths - adidas
Cognac cross body bag - Campomaggi from Plumo

Tomorrow I shall be up at the crack making pancakes which the 8yr old has requested for his birthday breakfast... with strawberries and ice cream....!

And hopefully be back with more tops.  I surely can't be the only one in need of these?

    1. Good luck! And make the most of the 20% off code... Hmm I will have a think about the pussy bow blouse - there definitely was one with a low v neck I remember looking at in black. I'll see if I can recall where from. I did have it on a blog but I can't remember which one. Duh. Apologies x

    1. The red, I think is definitely an orangey red and to be honest, the cream is actually rather sheer. You'd need a cami under it. The nocturnal is absolutely gorgeous though x

    1. The crepe tunics are to die for. And with 20% off now, it would frankly be rude not to!
