Mid season sale? Oh go on then.

It's Tuesday night, I am sitting waiting for the washing to finish so I can put it in the dryer.  Rock.  And.  Roll.

The Husband on the other hand, is out at yet another work do.  Having been out for lunch yesterday and at Twickenham all day Sunday.

The washing machine has a while to go.  So I can either read my exceptionally rubbish book I've started (don't you hate it when that happens - after reading a rather marvellous one:- Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty, a really good romp of a read)  or I can have another peruse online of the cheeky mid season Mango sale that I noticed yesterday when I was looking for work boots.

Mid season sales, in my experience, are notoriously a waste of time.  All the new season tat that they try to tempt us with in July when they've put all their Summer stuff into sale but can't bring out the full on Winter woolies.  I believe that at the higher end of the scale it is known as the Resort or Cruise Collections - on the high street, we can just call it Crap that no one really wants to buy.

However maybe I am being harsh (I'm not in a great mood.  I need a glass of wine.  It's Tuesday.  I don't care.  So I am now shopping a sale with wine.  This could be fatal) as I have come across some pretty darn lovely bits.  (doubly fatal)

Which it would be rude not to share with you (code for "I'm dragging you all down with me").

Starting with a cape.  Now I tried on The Zara Cape and looked like Cruella De Vil "the Batman years".  It wasn't a good look.

But this one looks less severe.  It looks rather fabulous in fact.

Wool Blend Cape was £89.99 now £59.99

Zipped Suede Jacket was £89.99 now £59.99    I appreciate that suede and winter aren't two words that one would automatically put together (seeing as "rain" is unfortunately synonymous with Winter in this country) but in this wine shade, surely it's perfect for those sunny days we do occasionally have?  And into the Spring as well.... Pale grey and winter white as an accompaniment, pretty please.

Or in what they call Khaki and I reckon in certain lights it would look khaki but in other lights it could easily be a browner shade.  I have a couple of suede things in this exact shade - my new Coccinelle bag and Eileen Fisher boots.  I know I may be totally naive but I think it just looks "expensive" to me. (although I'm not loving the colour palette it's teamed with here, if I'm honest)

Zipped Suede Jacket in khaki was £89.99 now £59.99

Still can't get enough of white shirts and this is a fabulous oversized boyfriend style shirt that will work perfectly over skinnies.  Throw a v neck jumper on for layering warmth in the Winter but perfect for on its own now and into the Spring as well.  100% cotton.

Cotton Shirt was £29.99 now £19.99

But if want to up the ante, then there is a silk blouse which I hope will look as fantastic untucked (I love the idea of this over distressed skinnies or boyfriend jeans with stilettos for  a night out... actually on typing, I don't love this idea, I super super love this.  Yes I have turned into Simon Cowell.  Kill me now.  I won't do it again, I promise).

Plumeti Silk Blouse was £49.99 now £34.99 - an amazing price for a silk blouse.  At this price, you could happily wear this during the day.

Speaking of blouses and one that would be perfect for a night out, over leather skinnies, jeans or tucked into a skirt...

Sequin Detail Blouse in light/pale grey was £49.99 now £34.99

I've had this on the blog before but it's now reduced and I think it could definitely be worth a punt.  My tip would be to size up otherwise I fear it could look like a black tubigrip bandage.

Ribbed Sweater was £19.99 now £12.99  Also available in a pale grey. (definitely size up in this otherwise you'll look like you're wearing a used tubigrip bandage)

Staying with tops and moving onto something I literally cannot get enough of this season - knitwear.  I have a special sort of knitwear blog coming up and this would very neatly fit into that category but I'm going to throw it in here, early doors.  It's all about the fluff.  I have looked at so many jumpers, believe me and this one is a great great price.  Plus, it's a colour that goes with literally everything.

Textured Wool-blend Sweater was £34.99 now £19.99

And can one ever have too many black jumpers?  Personally I don't think you can.

Textured Cotton Blend Sweater was £34.99 now £19.99

And I can hear that the washing is finally done.  That's my evening sorted and it's to bed for me.  Or maybe I should watch one more episode of Suits with another small glass of wine... I'm on Guides pick up tomorrow night so it's a no wine Wednesday.  That answers my question then.

Outfit from today - one secondary school down, one to go tomorrow.  Will say that I love this outfit - apart from the shoes and the bag, the entire outfit cost less than £50.  Love a bargain.

  6. I bought the cape yesterday and it is indeed lovely. For once we weren't totally burned on the price here in Ireland as I paid 59.99 euro for it. What's seldom is wonderful! So did you order anything in the end Kat?

    1. Oh that's fab news! I've ordered the cape. Here's to hoping I don't look like a caped crusader...

    2. You won't! It's really lovely. I wore it today with black trousers, shoe boots and a pale pink boxy shirt from Me+Em. I think it'll be one of those really handy items which lift a look without much effort. Don't forget to update when it arrives!

    3. I"m hoping that it has properly fitted shoulders like that of a blazer? I think that's where the other have been wrong on me..... I also ordered both M & L as who on earth knows what Mango sizes will be like!

    4. Yes it does have properly fitted shoulders Kat, like those of a blazer. They give it a nice tailored shape.

  7. This isn't remotely related to this blog but wanted to let you know that following another blog post of yours featuring a 20% off French connection code I bought 2 of the Lou Lou tops that you featured, one black, one winter white. Love them both, wore the white one with a black leather skirt for a lunch party on Sunday! As always a big thanks for the suggestion and of course the discount code!

  8. Love all of Liane Moriarty's books - for similar, try Louise Candlish (particularly The Disappearance of Emily Marr) & Louise Douglas. I'm off to check out the Mango sale right now.......having overdosed on Zara in Paris recently. Two Zaras just metres away from each other on the Champs Elysees and a Zara Home. Fatal!

  9. Oo, I'm going to look for that silk blouse now! Looking for a bow tie blouse that isn't the unflattering (on me) 'blush' colour that everyone seems to do.
And thank you for the author suggestions Kier! Read all of liane moriarty.
