Warning. These are addictive.

Ok so maybe it's me (I so know it isn't) but I am addicted/obsessed/need to sleep in these.  The roll neck.  Off the chunky variety.  For a start, they make bad hair days good hair days.  There is nothing like a polo or roll neck to set a sleeked back pony tail off to perfection.  It makes you look like you've done it on purpose, when in fact, you just can't be fagged to wash your hair (on reflection, I fear I may have revealed a tad too much there).

As if that wasn't excuse enough to purchase.  For me, it is actually (even with shorter hair, it takes far longer than I care to spend drying and styling it) reason enough, but I appreciate some may need more persuading.

I love these in the Autumn, in the Winter and even into the Spring.  They are perfect for every day, come rain or shine, come school run or out for lunch.  And if you needed any further persuasion that they can be dressed up - oh look what I found the other day in Banana Republic.  I may be going back tomorrow to purchase the entire outfit.  IN. AWE.

And there is now 20% off sweaters at Banana Republic with the code BRCOSY

Alas - slight downside is that I can't actually locate the black one online.  I have looked and looked and looked and nope, I can't find it.  But they do have it in cream (and they also have the skirt in cream too..... I will be back with skirt lust another day v shortly).

BR Monogram Ribbed Turtle neck jumper £59.50

And here it is in all its glory.   LOVE.  This is it in the Medium.

I also tried this in the wine which again, I can't find online.  I'm going back tomorrow to see if I can find the code and see if it's online as it was too gorgeous (and I want to use the 20% off)

Other options I came across online were these - which they do in a myriad of colours.  Perfect for over skinnies and leggings and I think would also work over a skirt as you can simply unzip the sides.  Genius.

Turtleneck Zip Sweater in black was £65 now £49.99

One of the original of these sorts of jumpers, which I adore, have two of and would happily wear every day, are the Boden Off Duty Jumpers.  A2G2 gives you 20% off.

Off Duty Roll Neck Jumpers £89 pre discount.  I love to size up in these but that's just personal opinion that I think they look better oversized, however I am tall!  Available in loads of other colours - I defy you not to find one that you love.

Jigaw are on a knitwear roll (see what I did there...) this year and they have a new exclusive, limited collection line in (all the trend it seems - again, one for me to report back on) called A-Line.  It is all completely sublime but not particularly what one could call purse friendly.  But for a treat....

Azalea Roll Neck Jumper in Dark Orchid in heavy gauge cashmere (aka dark purple by all accounts) from A-Line at Jigsaw £195

And in ivory  (wouldn't you just have this for years?  Not one for curry nights)

More at mainstream Jigsaw now, love this colour.

Soft Stretch Polo Neck Sweater in Camel £129

And what looks to be a better priced cashmere version of the Boden jumpers at Me+Em.  These are cheaper than the Boden ones were last year, which they don't seem to be doing again this year anyway.

Off Duty Roll Neck Jumper from Me+Em £148  In other colours online.  I did have a Me+Em code on a catalogue from the other day but have managed to throw it away in a fit of tidiness.  If anyone has one they'd like to share, we'd all be eternally grateful!

Some more reasonably priced ones on the High Street.

Oatmeal at River Island - asymmetric jumper £38  Now this is largely acrylic but on inspection, it looks like a great textured jumper rather than trying to be like a wool one (if that makes sense...)

They also do it in a chocolate version which I think looks a lot more expensive than it's price tag would lead you to believe.  Maybe it's because there's not that much chocolate around. (bar my bag of course)

And finishing with one that has texture as well as chunk.  Love the colours in this.

Chunky Space Dye Funnel Neck Jumper from Autograph at M&S £49.50

This is not, you won't be surprised to hear, the last I have to say on the subject of polo necks.  I have just acquired some new absolutely fantastic more fitted ones from Cocoa Cashmere which I will report back on another day but I have been living in them.  Along with the hush leather leggings, which yes I am planning on wearing again tomorrow and again on Saturday night.  I will be back to rave fully about these another day.

So here I am from yesterday, trip to London to a lovely Press Day and then a spot of shopping and lunch with my friend.  Am so in love with this outfit.

  1. I'm so with you on roll neck jumpers! I do have my eye on a fab mohair one from Designers Remix, Dont know if I will commit just yet as I've purchased the Acne clove ribbed top, which is lighter and more useable for now. Btw the cape/cardigan looks fab with the suede ankle boots, a great look!

  2. OM goodness - my best post ever! I love me a roll neck jumper and a good one is hard to find. Looked at a lurex one in topshop that would look fab under a black jumper - but the itchiness! The one with the zips is so lovely I shouted out loud !!! Thanks!

    1. But its sold out in the turtle neck - only the long turtle neck left - don't like those, girls at school used to wear their chain necklaces over the top of the roll neck bit many moons ago and its always put me off - strange but true!

  3. Oh I just love when you feature BR! (As I basically live in the place here in SF) :) - I have had my eye on the monogram ribbed black sweater - it's been ridiculously warm here this autumn so I have resisted till now but I think I will have to go check it out in person tomorrow now !

  4. Wow, what is that acne studios cape you have on - is it asymmetric? It looks so cool - love the whole outfit. When did you sneak the cape in - full disclosure at all times please lol !! Love the Ivory a line roll neck - gorgeous. I personally prefer a looser almost cowl roll neck as I hate feeling closed up around my neck. Have a good day x

    1. It's sort of asymmetric... it's the way it hangs. I LOVE it! Bought it back at the end of the Summer actually - September early I think. Interestingly I love a higher roll neck!

  5. Today is definitely roll neck jumper day (am I the only one that still calls them polo neck?), I am wearing an M&S ribbed one which fits perfectly under my dungarees.
Had a look at BR the other night after I spotted you had the top outfit and couldn't find the sweater either.
I have to stop looking at your blog and internet shopping when I won't actually get anything until January!
Happy Friday to all, Deb x

    1. Definitely a polo neck - to be honest I call them both! Can't find the sweater, tried it on again yesterday and didn't buy it as I knew I'd loose it (I am a rubbish drunk shopper) but am hopefully going to persuade the husband to pick it up from the Banana Republic that is opposite his work on Monday!

  11. I had a major find in Strenesse at an outlet yesterday. Cashmere ivory roll neck for €460 down to €90! It's a few sizes too big so ticks the oversized box and was too good a bargain to leave!

  12. Oh fab buy. Definitely worth going to BR to check out. I asked them yesterday and they said it's not on line but they did say "yet".....

  13. Just back from the US with a suitcase full of chunky jumpers, including a cream cable monogrammed roll neck from (say it quietly) Lands End. In my defence, I think they have a new chief and she is turning things around in a bit of a Jenna stylee, albeit a gradual one. But wouldn't ya know - BR was about the only shop I didn't make it into (damn husband, always tagging along). Now I need that whole outfit for Christmas Day....

    1. Interesting now... I will check them out. If it makes you feel any better, I couldn't even be bothered to pick up the jumper and skirt from BR on Friday when I went back into London as I knew I'd lose them post three bottles of wine so i'm sending the husband back to get them on Monday!

  14. Kat I bought the DP leopard print coat, it is absolutely faboulous on, love the fit and look of it. I wanted a leopard print coat for some time however the ones with fur made me look chunkier than I actually am, this one hangs nicely on me, thanks for posting. x
