It'll be all White on the night.

Or during the day actually.  In the form of knitwear.  Basically a White Jumper.  Doesn't sound like much but these are a classic that I can guarantee you will get wear out of again and again and again.  At the moment, I only have one - a super bargain loose number in an off white actually, from Zara last year.  I didn't realise how useful it would be until I actually bought it.

I lived in it last Summer - especially when we were away on hols.  It doubles up and serves so many purposes (ok - in the jumper scheme of things, it doesn't unload the dishwasher or anything).  But it works with faded jeans of all varieties (I'm planning on throwing my yet to be purchased BIrkies or sliders with them) for a total dress down look.  Team with a skirt or culottes and either flats or heels, depending on the occasion.  Or it is the perfect basic top to show off print trousers of all varieties - capri, wide legged or loose cuffed ones.

Now I was inspired to have a proper look at these by two things.  Firstly, this pic in the Me+Em catalogue that I am addicted to perusing.  I love this look.  It also reminded me that I have a pair of wide leg chambray jean style trousers which would be simply perfect with a plain white jumper.  I love the clean, uncomplicated lines of this look - not for me all the time, I'm way too much of a magpie/Bet Lynch wannabe to dress like this 24/7, but every now and again, my Inner Hepburn loves this.

Sod's law I can't lay my hand on the catalogue (I fear The Husband may have seen how dog eared it was and binned in the hope I may forget its existence)   But this is the pic - the trousers are the navy wide legged ones for sale on the site.

Boyfriend Jumper in White 100% cotton £88

Secondly, I came across this in a local boutique we have here called The Clever Dresser who stock the most amazing brands including knitwear brand Duffy.  I tried this on and it just seemed so perfect and would fit so so well into my wardrobe.  Obviously handwash (hurah!)  It's currently number one on my list of May maybes (and we're up to the 5th and I've bought nothing yet - miracle)

Duffy NY White Oversized Cashmere Mix jumper £134.99

A very similar shape to the Duffy one but with a slash neck from M&S.

Autograph Boxy Jumper £39.50

And again from Mango - similar shape but this time in an off white.  Obviously I didn't consider this when I was doing my order with 30% off last week.  Duh.

Ribbed Sweater £34.99

Monaco Pointelle Jumper from Baukjen £99 but with 15% off - quote BRT44

Sandwich Boxy Jumper in Off white £89.00

Wishbone Alexia Knit £75 Cotton, viscose mix

Another V neck jumper, this time from Mango.

Mango Silk Blend Long jumper £16.99 (this is with 30% off at the mo)

If pure white doesn't appeal there are lots out there that are a slight off white, more of an ivory.

Ivory Textured Stitch Jumper from Boden in £35.40

Also from Boden, the Darcy Jumper in Ivory £69

This has to be my fave from Boden though, the Audrey Jumper in Ivory £48.30

Chunky knit sweater from Mango £34.99 in off white

Another Cable knit from Mango £44.99

Oasis Cotton Waffle Jumper in Off white £38

Warehouse Woven Shoulder Stitch Block Jumper in neutral £45

So do you have a white or ivory jumper in your wardrobe and how useful do you find it?  Or if not, have I just opened up a world of opportunity for you?  My wardrobe now seems totally absent without a proper one.

Yesterday, super casual day hanging out with the kids and The Husband.   Lovely trip to take the kids swimming yesterday afternoon in the sunshine.

  3. Hi Kat, love reading your blog, championed by yourself I am about to treat myself to some ash Thelma/genial but I am so stuck on either black or clay, can you advise which you get more wear out of etc, any influence would be appreciated x

    1. I would say definitely the clay as it's the colour I personally prefer the style in (although that is personal preference of course). The Genial tbh is probably a better heel height than the Thelmas though I do love both. In fact I may well wear mine tomorrow! xx

  4. I agree, it is such a summer staple. I have an American Vintage one from last summer that I lived in, it's very thin. I have a thicker zara one that I didn't wear so much. Would quite like a more boxy style - my faves from your selection are the Duffy and the sandwich ones!

    1. Yes I have a thinnish Zara one I have worn oodles. I don't mind thicker so long as I can get a coat over the top of it! x

  5. That Boden Audrey one is gorgeous, not for my capacious bosom sadly. Love the sandwich one. I have a J. Crew Tippi in sand that would also be perfect in white. Off I go!

    1. I have heard nothing but amazing things about the Tippis but to me they're almost a tee substitute instead of a jumper if that makes sense? I was looking for a slightly looser jumper I think.... (thought I think the Tippis are THE most amazing layering top for the Spring/Autumn - and most of our summer to be fair!)

    1. Have you looked at the Hayley bag in John Lewis? That's probably the nearest out there or check out Kate Spade who do a very similar looking one. xxx

  7. Love a white jumper - I have a cheapo white cotton one from H&M which they are still doing this year and it seems to wash well and is light and thin enough for the not too hot days. Love the first jumper but the thick knit would add infinite bulk to me - would look lovely on you though.

    1. I have to say even I might be worried about the bulk of the first jumper as I don't like wearing too heavy a top. The Duffy ones looks perfect (obviously...)

  8. Hi Kat, I have a very thin, boxy shaped, short sleeved white jumper from Zara from last year and it is just brilliant. It washes so well and looks far more expensive than it is. I bought it in lime green too and they are the only things from there that I have that have lasted!! F xx

    1. Oh drat I missed them! Didn't see anything similar in Zara this year. I've just found a hole in my beloved White Zara one which is TOTAL BUMMER! Bloody Zara.

  9. Hi Kat, been inspired to wear a white/ivory jumper today after reading your post! Love your blog and look forward to reading each one - saddo I know! Have you had your Mango delivery yet? I'm STILL waiting 10 days after order!! Not impressed with their service at all - always ordered through John Lewis before and had it delivered for free to Waitrose the next day which is much more civilised!!

    1. NO! I haven't and I haven't even had note of it being dispatched. I assumed it may not have gone through but it still says it's "being prepared" on my Mango account. Rubbish - can't even remember what I ordered.

  10. They're totally Chloe in style - I have the sandal heeled pair from Clarks the other year which are also so so so Chloe-esque. They are wearing beautifully, honesty they are the most comfortable shoes ever. I would absolutely buy another pair of flats from Hobbs, if they are as good quality as these.

  11. No if they didn't fit you did the right thing as they'd drive you bonkers. x

  14. I bought an oversized lightweight cotton jumper in a Spanish Zara store last year for a bargain price - it's great as a light cover up when it gets a bit chilly. BTW, the Next skater shoes are back in stock in clearance and they've got my size - hurrah. Ordered the cheetah and the black. Hope the fit as the size 40 was a tad too small!
