It's all a bit familiar - me eating my hat......

... and me pontificating about not buying into a trend.

And then a matter of weeks later, being forced to eat my hat and humble pie all washed down with a side portion of grovel - I am about to purchase a new coat.

I mentioned it the other day - the Warehouse Teddy Bear one and I honestly can't stop thinking about it.  I obviously don't need to justify the purchase, but I wouldn't be me if I didn't... And the main thing is, I know I will wear it.   I wore my camel longline blazer coat last year so much that it's bobbled within an inch of its life (it's honestly verging on boucle now)  I also haven't been able to stop wearing the dressing gown camel one that I bought this year and would wear it every day if I didn't that a) I'd get bored of it and b) I'd ruin it.

So another camel is a no brainer (sort of) and the fact that this one is totally different from anything else I own, has been the seal on its coffin.

But back to my meal of volte face and yes, I know, I said I wasn't going to do fur coats this season.  In my defence (which I may as well have tattooed on my gravestone, the amount of times I appear to say it), I'm not sure this "actually" comes under the heading Fur Coat.  It's more "lived in cuddly toy" coat - it is genuinely called a Teddy Bear coat.  Oh and, if further justification was needed, like I did say the other day, I did fall in love with the Maxmara one from last year.

Look how fantastic it can look.  I will admit the far right pic was the one that sent me into yes yes yes.  The fact I would look like the biggest dick on the school run in that, is clearly neither here nor there.... Far left pic is a much easier to wear take on it for sure.  Check on all counts.  (note to self - small black cross body bag hole in wardrobe may have just appeared....ditto black beanie.....)

It's also randomly something that I've been asked about a number of times - it's a twist on a fur coat I guess but it's something that people are not sure of.   Well, I love them.  To me, they're a cross between a sheepskin and a full on fur (faux..) number.  In fairness, it's a totally different look and one which you will probably either love or hate.  I would say knowing me, there is a high chance this could the New Balance of the coat world, but with my Maxmara hangover still going strong from last year, I'm hopeful.

So this is the one I have gone for (like I said, I did size up as I didn't find it overly generous and this is a coat that needs to look like you could camp out in it for a week)

Oversized Pocket Teddy Coat £85 pre discount

They also do a pink Teddy coat which is in fact reduced from £85.

Pink Teddy Coat £55 from Warehouse

And I LOVE this grey boucle Teddy one.  Really really love this.

Grey Zip Boucle Teddy Coat was £90 now £70 again Warehouse

On offer again at Topshop, this time in black for £55

Collarless at Pull & Bear at ASOS.  This is the perfect style to wear a scarf with.

Pull & Bear Borg Coat £59.99

However if you do think it will be a one season wonder (or perhaps you want to wear it for fancy dress...to be honest, all you need is a Bo Peep and you're off - this is out of the mouth of The Husband obviously) then George at Asda have a bargainous £25 number in white.

Teddy Coat £25 from George at Asda

They also have a baby blue version.  I love this shade with black or even camel.  Also looks great with navy.  Very versatile as a Winter colour.

So yet another new coat that I have to add to my expanding collection... I did actually buy a check yellow and grey Kew one from TKMaxx that I was going to fess up about it.  Have worn it once, went to wear it yesterday and one of the buttons is missing.  GAH.  Took it back today so I don't feel "too" guilty about replacing it with this one.

Off out to a dinner party this evening - rushing like a banshee as tennis balls fly past my ears (yup) and I officially need to be NOT NEAR MY CHILDREN who don't go back to school till Tuesday.  Dear.  God.  There shall be wine tonight and ALL shall be ok with the world.

Right, I have now been hit in the head with a tennis ball.  An entire week with a small Asperger's boy who also has ADHD is an interesting experience.  Someone pass the wine immediately please...

  2. I do love that cardi Kat, I can plan a zillion outfits around it! I was surprised you resisted the teddy bear coat actually as it looked brilliant. Snug as a bug on the school run for you this year then x

    1. It's great isn't it - just so cheery to throw over a miserable outfit. Which I shall be doing to day in fact!

  3. Glad you went for it, it's lovely! I spotted a baby blue teddy coat in Sainsbo's last week that I wanted to try, but I had the kids with me and they weren't up for it at all. Sod's law it'll be gone next time I go back. I will weep if it's not there!

  5. Tell me the rules, please, on skinny jeans rolled up with ankle boots?
    Or is it slim jeans?
Do socks show? Or are we helplessly veering dangerously into pop - sock territory?

    1. I like skinny jeans, boyfriend jeans or straight legs turned up - socks wise, depends on the boots! WIth a higher ankle boot I'll wear a sock, otherwise I wear a footsie. I'm not sure you want to see the sock on some boots... But having said that, I do love some of the kitten heel ankle boots with a little bit of black sock showing so go figure. Clear as mud?!

  6. May have to rush to Sains and/or Asda tomorrow to get the cheapo version, need the hit without the bucks for this trend...thanks for tip off!

  7. Eeek, normally love everything you post (& trust me this year you may have 'helped' increase my credit card bill along with my non-existent willpower!), however this is one thing I won't have any trouble resisting!

Each to their own of course - and I'm sure you'll make it look great as ever but...the teddy bear coat is the winter outerwear of choice here in the coastal South West - mostly accessorised with visible greying bra, too tight vest top, leggings, collapsing fake uggs and fag in mouth whilst pushing pushchair (its a strong look)! Definately a marmite item for me!

    1. oh dear lord alive, I know EXACTLY the sort of look you mean. SOB. Well I'm hoping I won't be emulating that... If I get a whiff of that sort of style, I promise i'll send it straight back!

  8. Love it!!! I bought the Topshop one last winter, never worn it, bought a teddy gillet too, never worn that either. I might dig them out and give them anither go.

  9. I also need a small black cross body. I've tended more towards tan bags of late, but really like the russell and bromley belle bag in black so I might order it for when we're back at Christmas (living in Switzerland is seriously impacting my shopping habit!). Interested to see your small black cross body bag research! Jo

    1. OOH are you like me when you get an inkling of needing something and within 24 hrs it's full on NEED (in the not really need sense of the word....) I will be back.....

    2. Well I was, but it's so bloomin expensive to buy anything here (except mango which is the same) and you get stung at customs of you order in, that it's making me consider my purchases a lot more! You should have seen me at half term when we came home for a few days! Plus my parents are visiting next week and will be bringing with a black leather jacket I got from warehouse with their 25% discount! fingers crossed it fits! I do however NEED both a black cross body and black ballet pumps :-)
