In the interests of balance
And since I had a spare half hour yesterday and was opposite a Mango in the City which randomly (or not so random thinking about it) has totally different stock to my local yokel one, I thought I'd go and have a peruse of their knitwear.
With the weather having well and truly turned, following my post on jumpers the other day, I was aware that it was at the more expensive end of the knitwear scale and was sure that there must be some more economical options out there. Again, these aren't cheap cheap and I am going to see if I can find some others but the quality of these (bar one to be fair...) for the money, is really good. (ooh and there is a super bargain actually - which doesn't fit the brief of a chunky knit but hell, it's a jumper. And a super useful one at that)
Kicking off though with an amazing wool mix jumper that feels gorgeous. Not too soft (it does need to have some structure and I like the fact you're able to pouff it over itself - if that makes sense....), not remotely itchy, great length sleeves (this is a Large) and all in all, pretty perfect.
Ribbed wool-blend sweater £34.99 in Gunmetal Grey
Slightly losing the will to live, hence I tried a larger size on over my jumper. Never let it be said I'm not professional.
And as a total aside, this is the scarf that I had wanted and sold out online - it's back again, but I'm not sure. I'm slightly concerned I have a whiff of Eastern European doll in a touristy shop look around me. Or a Spandeau Ballet fan from the 90's in their Romantic era... But I LOVE the colours - and the check.. and the size.. and it's warm (seriously warm)
Check Scarf £24.99
Here I am, potentially about to launch into "Through the Barricades"
I have merely scratched the surface of the jumper opportunity this season I feel. But top of my list at the moment, is definitely the ribbed polo neck. Gorgeous and a lot more jumper for your money than most.
Finishing with my outfit from yesterday. Amazing day in London, in the morning with Hush Homewear and Odette Toilette at a Fragrance Discovery Workshop. They're launching a rather lovely Home Fragrance range - as a candle addict, I can't wait till it's available towards the end of the month. Fear not, I will let you know.
A cheeky lunch with The Husband and then a tiny mooch round the (pants) shops before heading home for the school run and the round robin antics of after school clubs for my three.
White collar - Cos
Black merino jumper - Uniqlo
Black capri pants - Zara
Camel wrap coat - Zara
White leather tennis shoes - Zara
Black Diego bag - Alexander Wang
And now to watch the rest of The Apprentice with my two eldest who are obsessed with it. Both refuse to watch The X Factor or Strictly but love love Lord Sugar. Go figure.
Anyone else seen any fabulous jumpers on their travels? I'm compiling some other blogs on this as I haven't even got started yet. Also got the dreaded practical coat on the horizon, am conscious that the party season is around the corner (DRESS DRESS DRESS) and whilst we're there, we should definitely look at some shoes as well. Not forgetting bling and jeans, so much to cover!
Oooh, I've been wondering if a coat post is a-comin'. Keen for that one, it's getting cold!
ReplyDeleteIt's on its way..... I may be putting it off...... x
DeleteJumpsuits as evening wear! That's what I'm considering for the party season! Also tartan - yes or no ? Have a lovely Mango cardi on as I write that seems to have sold out online, they haven't got many cardis left have they?
ReplyDeleteoooh yes that's definitely something on my list. Tartan - well it's definitely a yes for the season but probably a no from me.... Just can't do everything I guess! x
DeleteOooooh I love that first mango sweater. I really must not buy anything else though! The My Wardrobe coat arrived (I think you asked which one I got) it was the Maison Scotch with the fake fur hood. Thanks for the code!
ReplyDeleteerrr it would be rude not to with 30% off now! I can't decide between the grey and the camel now - think I'm going to go camel.. Coat is gorgeous, you're more than welcome x
DeleteThat yellow is blummin' gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteIt really is a great colour yellow!
DeleteYou just sent me on a massive nostalgia trip - I used to manage the Warehouse store on Cheapside! It was about 20 years ago, so it's probably a bit different ( I kind of hope it's been relocated from the shoebox it used to be) now though!
ReplyDeleteI bought this jumper from Zara when we were still having an Indian Summer, and I'm so ready to get it out now. When's it going to be reaaally cold??

It looks dreadful in the photo, but it will be fabulous with pleather skinnies. I love it!

Whoops, meant to say you should buy that camel roll-neck, the colour is great on you. x
DeleteOOh small world! And that jumper is gorgeous. Have you found your pleather skinnies - these are proving immensely elusive to me. And yes, with the 30% off I am now DEFINITELY going to get that camel jumper. x
DeleteThe skinnies are last year's I'm afraid. They're the cheapo Next version of the pleather-fronted legging. I didn't want to spend a lot as I wasn't sure how much I'd wear them, but they are brilliant at holding everything in, so they have had quite a few outings so far!
DeleteBecky x
I love the tartan scarf, still on the hunt for one and this looks like a possibility!
ReplyDeleteI love it and I love it on other people, I just don't really love it on me. GAH. x
DeleteHate to say it, but the Baukjen Atlow jumper is fantastic... but not cheap. Fab yellow. Sair x
ReplyDeleteAARRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
DeleteCheck out the tk maxx cashmere collection. All my girlfriens are buying it. Very chinti and Parker for £30-£50. Love your blog xx
ReplyDeleteCouldn't see it instore at all today - is it online only? But our TK Maxx is rather pants to be honest with you. bummer.
DeleteOops hope I don't double post- I love your blog Kat! I am frequently envious as based in San Francisco and don't always have access to the stores you feature I would so love to read about your picks from the latest banana republic collection as it's everywhere here in it's founding location of SF! Keep up the blogging I have made several Kat influenced purchasers over the last 12 months and really look forward to your posts! - Vanessa
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely lovely comment, thank you so much. And yes I shall do a special US company blog for sure x
DeleteLove those roll necks Kat, they look fab on! Think I may have to pop into Mango to investigate! Xx
ReplyDelete30% off now - I'm hitting send like a mad thing! x
DeleteJust looked in my wardrobe I have the mango poloneck, bought it in Barcelona and forgot dahhh!! Now I am happy!! Xx
ReplyDeleteThank god it's not just me who does that. x
DeleteAs if by magic a Mango sweaters (and coats and cardigans) code has arrived in my inbox - 5MNG - gets you 30% off online. Discount is also in stores.
ReplyDeleteHOW SPOOKY IS THAT?! Total coincidence and super handy. x
DeleteLove those rollnecks! My autumn jumpers are from H&M and none cost over £15 (cheapskate me?) - I've bought four different ones, styles and colours and they are just fab, soft and wash and wear beautifully. I also managed to snag a cotton jumper from the Whistles sale with my Elle giftcard so think I'm all jumpered up now, then again..... Fiona xx
ReplyDeleteThat sounds fab - Ive got a sweatshirt I MUST buy from H&M on my list of things to do. Will check out their knitwear too thank you x
DeleteI want, want, want that yellow jumper! It looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteIT's fab, isn't it. x
DeleteSorry - and thank you!! xx
DeleteThat camel coat is just amazing. I love the jumpers, I'm a sucker for a chunky knit
ReplyDeleteI am too in love with it x
DeleteI just bought the black and white stripe from Mango (during their recent 30% off sale) and wore it yesterday. Love it! Very light weight though and I put a white T under for extra warmth. My two favorite buys this fall have been these two -- this one in black, also during 30% off: https://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/sweaters/PRDOVR~B1252/B1252.jsp
ReplyDeleteand this one in gray, which apparently is sold out...

They are gorgeous - I bet you're getting them cheaper though aren't you - LOADS LOADS cheaper!! Luck duck! x
DeleteLove a jumper and you've picked some beauties here! Love that scarf so much too. Lynne x
ReplyDeleteIt’s great to see good information being shared and also to see fresh, creative ideas that have never been done before.

Love love love your coat BUT I am far too short to pull it off. Such a shame. Just bought a grey one from Hobbs NW3 and am extremely please with it. Only had to have the sleeves shortened....Talking about jumpers though, I probably have far too many already but got a nice cable knit one in grey cashmere from Antoni & Alison (TK Maxx) the other day and I lovely grey one from Karen Millen with wide turtle neck and fitted sleeves. I think this is it for me for this winter season. The yellow jumper is fantastic on you!
