And here's one I made earlier.

Frankly, it is just too depressing to even begin to discuss anything weather related.  I am sat here surrounded by children inside and a foot of snow outside.  And it's still snowing.  I refuse to contemplate any more snow pics this morning and so here's a blog that has been in the offing.

With sunny pics already in the bag, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to talk about one of my style staples.  Oh yes, it's the skinny jean.

I was fortunate enough to be asked to feature in a Stylists Advertorial for Stylist Magazine - my staple is obviously the skinny jean and here I am featured wearing the white pair.  There are four other bloggers featuring other style staples plus the opportunity to win £500 to spend at Boden.  I have my eye on the colour pop jumper with buttons down the back which is just too cute.

But back to the jeans.  Now admittedly when it comes to women's jeans these days, pretty much anything goes.  (bar boyfriend jeans for me.  I've given up.  Well I haven't, but I've given up whinging about them in public).

It's pretty evident that my favourite jeans by far are my skinny ones.  However finding ones that a) don't stretch too much b) aren't too low rise c) are a good fit and d) don't break the bank, can be a challenge.

I have mentioned before that I love my Boden jeans - I have worn the vintage skinnies for a couple of months now so I was over the moon to receive some white and pear drop ones as well.

My love of white jeans has been well documented and I have dallied with coloured and print jeans in seasons gone by.  I'm also loving yellow this season (my Goat cardigan has been very useful and will be great coming into Spring) and so I was absolutely over the moon with the yellow shade.

Here is how they style them at Boden.

Skinny jeans in pear drop.

And here is me in sunnier climes!

Adore them with navy and/or grey.  Also plan on pairing them with monochrome shades as another nod to an easy win win trend this S/S.

Now please.  Please please PLEASE can I have some more opportunity to wear them, dear weather.

As I have also already purchased a perfect blouse (sneak peek from my printed top post!) to go with them.   A rather bargainous £16.75.  Obviously it's not silk and it's "sniff" polyester but honestly it's not a "don't stand too near a naked flame" sort of feeling poly.  I can live with it for the stunning colourway and print.  And on the upside, it can go in the washing machine, it will dry in 25 seconds and won't need ironing.

So there we have a gratuitous sunny post in the face of snow complete.

Right - hands up who's snowed in and is online shopping to compensate??!

  1. Ha ha more Boden from you - love it. I can't talk, I wear it all the time... except jeans. I tried the pale pink ankle skimmer jeans at the shop last month in my usual Boden trouser size and they wouldn't do up. I looked horrific, like a raw sausage. Hmm.

You look great in the yellow ones and the F21 blouse is really lovely, great find!

Congratulations again on reaching a million hits, that's AMAZING. Well done on all your hard work :-)

    1. Yes, these are the only Boden items that I wear but I have to say, I do well and truly love them! There are loads of lovely things this season to be fair. I do draw the line at the dresses - not for me, at all, but they have such a loyal following, you can see why they do keep doing them!

Am over the moon with the F21 blouse. It's completely perfect for the jeans! And with my pink Zara blazer from last year (which I probably won't be teaming with the yellow jeans - all a bit too pale and pastel for me)

  2. Am intrigued by boden jeans, I am 5 foot 11 and have never tried their jeans as presumed the long would still be too short. I know you are tall too, are they a good length?

    1. I'm 5ft 10 but do have longer legs and I have to say, they're pretty darned good length wise. They're fine as they're skinnies - I certainly couldn't wear boot cut, but these are long enough to wear with flats, definitely. The long version is obviously the one I went for!

  3. Seeing as you've always taken quite an "anti-Boden" stance in the past I did wonder that all of a sudden you were extolling their jeans. Fair play if you really do rate them and aren't just plugging them for the sake of it, they do look good on you.

    1. You're absolutely right, Boden haven't floated my boat in the past at all (their quirky linings irrationally irritate me) but, as Grazia et al have proven, they definitely have taken a different direction in the last couple of seasons. That said, you won't see me bombing about in an A line fun skirt any time soon, but you'll be seeing these jeans a lot in the Spring Summer. They really are pretty bloody good and yes, I do think they're very flattering.

I do think it's really hard to find white skinny jeans that don't give that sausage skin look to your leg yet at the same time are definitely skinny and not straight legged. These work. Plus I don't need a belt with the which is a huge plus for me!

  4. Just this week I saw the new Boden SS collection. Lots of really nice stuff ... I too have my eye on the button back sweater (in yellow) and for folk like me, who prefer a sleeve, there are lots of really nice tops. Hadn't thought about their jeans ... must go have a look. Lovely photos! Landscape??!!!!

    1. HA! The Landscape photos are on the Stylist Magazine site. Winter wonderland.....

And yes, I could spend a fortune in their catalogue she says bashfully. I so have my eye on those brogues and that button back jumper....

    1. Thank you. Was so pleased to be asked. And am over the moon that you like the white jeans. They're great aren't they? Can't wait for better weather and to be able to get more wear out of the pear drop ones.

  6. Love the way you have styled the Boden skinnies in 'pear drop'. Looks great with the navy and stripes. I do think it helps enormously to have long skinny legs when donning pale skinny jeans. I love the colour but at 5ft 5" and curvy thighs i would struggle with them. Time to whittle them down!

    1. Thank you! I also think the cut of the jean is hugely important. Believe me, there are some pale jeans which make my legs ming. But yes, ones that are in proportion for your body are ones that will work. Maybe try a straight leg as opposed to a skinny? xxx

  7. Hi About the boots.... Have a look at these Suede camargue style slip-on boots on La Redoute - could be a pile of poo! But only £22 reduced from £75 real suede. Click on the sale section. Melissa x

    1. Thank you! Yes had a look and was hopeful as thought perhaps a French site may be more Marant inspired.... But alas they're not quite the real thing, are they? I'm trying to be good and not order something unless it's perfect (which is massively irritating when something is £360 perfect. Bum!) Thank you though xxxx

  8. HI Kat,
I adore your mulberry scarf and have seen how versatile it is from seeing you style it on your blog. Do you know whether the scarf is still available to buy? I have googled but with not much joy. Or could you please recommend a scarf that you think might be very similar to your mulberry one? i really enjoy your blog and am looking forward to your ideas for Spring and Summer.

    1. Hi there. Oh I"m so sorry but this scarf sold out immediately it was released. I only got it as my best friend bought it for me as a present as soon as she'd seen it! Try looking at Warehouse as they did have some similar inspired ones last year - with butterflies rather than birds but the colours were very close. I'll let you know if I see anything else around. xxxx

  9. Love that F21 blouse. I really wish I'd had time to have a better look there as I have the 'need' for a couple of similar blouses, but in poss the red print of the trousers we looked at.

Re the Mulberry scarf, your commenter above could look at eBay, there are a few tributes out there to the fab finches scarf.

  10. Love the lemon drop skinnies look, fab-u-lous. Think I'm going to steal a couple of your ideas there for S/S ...looking good. Oh, and on the other more recent post, your hair looks lush slightly wavy. Good job, really loving your blog at the moment. Emma.
