The one thing you need for Summer Nights

It's the perfect height, perfect sandal that goes with everything.  Too much to ask, I hear you cry?

Well I'm going for it.  Now I actually don't need any of these.  Yes, read that again, I said, I do not need any of these.  You read it correctly the first time.  The chances of me, of course, getting to the end of this blog and not realising that I have a huge X sandal hole in my wardrobe is very low.  Darn writing this blog - it's like being let loose in a sweet shop for grown ups.  I write a post and need things I never knew existed.

But I'm going to try as I really Do Not Need any more shoes (for the summer - winter shoes are another matter all together but I have a cunning plan coming up for that - watch this space)

However now we are talking sandals.  I love a high heel (I'm going to ignore the fact that all mine are high heels and whilst we shall be talking heel heights of the less vertiginous variety, I still do not need any.....)

Sandals that can make that dress into the perfect night out dress.  The Summer parties are just starting.  Coming to the end of term it seems to be the perfect excuse for people to crack out the Pimms, don a dress and shoes are needed.

These do however work just as well with a pair of jeans and a summery top for those more chilled out evenings in the pub or at a BBQ.

And we're looking at neutrals so that they go with everything.  You can wear them to a wedding, you could wear them dressed down for Sunday brunch.  I would draw the line at wearing them with shorts, that much I will throw out there for consideration.  It is personal preference of course but personally, I do feel I can hear someone making Larry the Lamb noises behind me if I even contemplate shorts and heels.  Especially those of a more dainty variety which we're looking at here.

I've been meaning to do this for a while but have been spurred on by my lovely friend J who has asked me if I can a pair.  This is for you lovely!

Starting with white - which is perhaps a scary colour for some but I've been surprised at how versatile my white flat leather sliders have been.  To be honest, I'm not really sure why - it is perhaps the most neutral colour there is.  (too much sun for one here, I think)

Steve Madden Tassha Heeled Sandals £59

White Strappy Sandals at Mint Velvet.  These are the perfect mix between smart and casual in my book.

White Gina Sandals £99

I will say that the most neutral colour I love is nude and these are a stunningly pretty bargain pair from New Look.

Stone Strappy t-bar open toe sandals £19.99

I've featured these before but they are just too gorgeous (my personal favourites) not to include again.

Neutral Lola Sandals from Mint Velvet £99

A pair in pale grey from New Look which would go with pretty much all pastels, shades of blue and monochrome summer looks.

Grey Asymmetrical open toe heels - £19.99

More grey at Mint Velvet - Grey Lara Double Buckle leather sandals £99

Whilst we're on the subject of grey, it doesn't necessarily have to be a stiletto or even a block heel, a wedge heel can sometimes have a delicate edge.

Whistles Lily Ankle Strap wedge in grey £155

Nude again at New Look with a slightly chunkier heel which would be much easier to stand around and drink Pimms in.

Stone Ankle Strap Open Toe Block heel sandals £19.99

Another block heel at M&S with a neutral mix - they also do this in a navy but unfortunately it's sold out online.  This colourway though would look gorgeous with creams, tans, blacks, browns and whites.  Even pale blues.

Leather Crossover Strap Sandals with Insolia £39.50

Moving onto metallic now and I have seen these described on Twitter as Disco shoes.  Hell yes.  And wedding or BBQ or pub shoes.  Pretty perfect.

Dune Black Hattie leather strappy shoes now £78 reduced from £129

Now for some colour pairs which aren't necessarily neutral but they're hardly way out there.  And sometimes, if you have a neutral outfit then a slightly different coloured shoe can really make all the difference.  Plus the heel on these is perfection in itself.  Go M&S.

Ankle Strap (although it's not really, is it...) Sandal in Blush £29.50

The same in pale blue £29.50 again from Limited Collection M&S

And totally off piste but the snakeskin is too gorgeous not to include.  They also do these in a yellow and a mint green too.

Faux Snakeskin Ankle Straps with Insolia £29.50

If you are looking for black then these are perfect with the hint of gold to lighten them slightly.  Plus they're not too heavy and are perfect for the Summer.

Dune Harleigh metal tab sandals £79

And some other mid heels in black from M&S which I know have been very popular.

Faux Suede H-Band Sandals with Insolia £25

Now I couldn't not put some higher heels in, just as, I hate to say this, but so many mid heel shoes are well.. a bit... meh.  These aren't high high (although to be fair, I guess that does depend on your definition of high but put it this way, you're not going to get a nose bleed with them)

Stone Cut Out High Vamp Heels from New Look £27.99

And I can legitimately include these as they're from Clarks which means, although they are high, they are guaranteed to be comfy, no?......

Spice Curtain Black Suede was £69.99 now £49.99

And in mushroom again £49.99 was £69.99

So have you got your summer heeled sandals sorted?  Alas there are not that many of these in the sale - the cheeky gits aren't as stupid as we'd like them to be as they're holding these back and will reduce them come September when we're all obsessed with boots.

Dare I say it's probably a good idea to look for boots now if you can find some good ones in the sale. I shall be back with my round up if I find any....

Here we are yesterday and today, enjoying the last sunshine apparently for a couple of days.  Boooooo

  1. I always buy new flat leather sandals pretty much every year! Most recently some all leather rose gold ankle strapped ones from Primark, £12, bargain! But I'm like you, I don't really need any more (but at that price, those ones had to come home with me). I am loving your F21 trousers - look fab! x

  3. Hi Kat, heels not my thing but as always enjoy reading your posts. I always liked the wishbone you jumper you posted about some time ago, but at £85 it was a bit steep for me. Was looking through the john lewis site this evening and yippee found it reduced to £40. Had to order it and give it ago even though I know probably it will be to short in the body for me to wear with my skinnies. But hey ho couldn't resist giving it a go.

  5. My back had a spasm at each picture - sob. Off heels (and super flat sandals) for the foreseeable and would you believe they suggested a pair of reiker style ankle strap spongy rubber soles for the remainder of the summer. Do they know who I am???!!! Sob. Ax
ps love all the above - but the mint velvet light tan ones just have the edge x

  7. Funnily enough I had a look at the ASOS sale tonight & nothing caught my eye apart from some tan ankle boots. Seemed a bit silly considering them in June but at £17 I'm still mulling them over now!
