One little trip to the hairdressers...

... and I suddenly am addicted to a whole new world of footwear.  What is it about a magazine at hairdressers that makes you look at everything in a different light?  I had only gone in for a blow dry with a new French recruit, Sev (rather pleased with the results for sure, shall definitely be going back and anyone local - highly highly recommended at Daniel Jordan) and ended up coming out with pretty fabulous hair and a full on obsession with new boots.

And it's all Polly from Grazia Vernon's fault.  We're talking the so obviously marmite Toga Pulla boots.  Now I'm not going to get into a row about which came first - the Toga Pulla boot or the slightly more elaborate Chloe Susanna boots (which I posted about on here eons ago over which apparently most people threw up on their laptops). I am not nearly trendy enough to either know or care but to my mind they do definitely share a look.

I can only imagine that these will elicit as diverse a reaction as the Susannas did.  Which I didn't end up getting.  For numerous reasons - they detailing was rather out there for me and there were a gazillion tributes on the market within 5 minutes which were just as good as the real deal but sort of took the gloss off somewhat.  However the original were and are still hilariously priced.  Hilariously at nearly £900 priced.  I seriously kid you not.  And also almost sold out.

Susannah Studded boot from Chloe £895 (I feel slightly sick typing that...)

So they didn't happen.  For £900 worth of reason and whilst they stroked my Suzi Quattro itch, it wasn't going to work.

But then last year I saw Polly wax lyrical about the snakeskin pair Toga Pulla pair which were, thank the lord, sold out.

However DARN HER, this week, she's snaffled out the plain black pair for A/W this week in Grazia.

Toga Pulla Leather and Suede Buckle Boots £325

I appreciate for many, I will be polishing a turd here, but I do also like the plain leather one, coming soon at Matches.

Toga Pulla Boots £326 I have just squealed with excitement - properly screeched - at them having them with my bag (although she must be really diddy as it looks massive on her...) and told the The Husband to come and look and ask his opinion (I have had wine and I now realise this wasn't the best idea I've ever had)  "Dear God they are absolutely revolting.  You will look like a geriatric goth"  Ah bless.  And sod him.

If you have diddy size 3 or 4 feet you can get the red ones for a steal at Coggles.

Toga Pulla Women Suede boots in red £163 half price

Or the grey ones for £165 from The Outnet.  Again I would have to have a couple of/all of my toes amputated to fit the diddy sizes left.

TopShop have already bought out a tribute pair but as a lovely lady pointed out on Instagram (and if you're not with the Instagram programme, oh my lord you need to be - tis addictive and then some, I promise you) - they're not quite pointy enough.  I have also noticed they're missing a buckle so I shall be on the hunt for others.  Although I'm more temped to wait for a Matches money off voucher....

Billy Buckle Boots from TopShop £46

I actually definitely prefer the croc version £46

For me, on reflection, I think it would have to be the original Toga Pulla versions.  It's the extra buckle, perfect heel height, super pointy toe and the whole perfect lushness of them.  Fully expect about turn shortly mind you.

One of my best friends in fact got a pair of similarish monk boots in pale pink suede from the M&S sale (none left online alas) but they do have similar A/W versions in darker shades.

Flat Buckle Ankle Boots £39.50

And in a blue also £39.50

So anyway, I started this last night and have woken up this morning after a lovely dinner with friends and STILL think they are the mutt's nuts.  The Husband has also confirmed he still thinks they are revolting.  Plus ca change....

Are we all going to go Adam Ant this year?  In my head I can see this working to give last year's outfits a new season feel.  Or look like a tool......

Finishing with my outfit from Friday in fact.  Slightly chillier but a great day and evening.  Oh and a new blow dry complete with new boots ideas.

  3. Oh my lord they are AMAZING in the petrol blue. Absolutely absolutely gorgeous and yes, they would definitely be an amazing substitute. Dang not being able to get them here. x

  4. Stylish on others but not for me. It's that cowboy boot shape I think. And all that fussy buckle malarkey...I'm waiting for boots to go a bit seventies shape wise, I like a small block heel, a Chelsea boot stylee but a bit slim and slinky you know? Why did boots go all fat and clunky? Ha, showing my age now. You'll get some, they'll look bloomin great and I'll change my mind...

    1. oh love it! Actually there are definitely some like that out there, Zara did a fab version last year and the Chelsea Boot is definitely making a revival. Also some at Penelope Chilvers but they're not cheap. I love the fact that you can just let your boots do the talking with these and have a really plain rest of outfit.... (that's the plan anyway but best laid plans and all that!) x

    2. what men find attractive and what women THINK men find attractive are two very different things. I wish I had a chunky legged girlfriend.

  7. Blimey I had a pair like that in the early 1980's when I was a goth = should never throw anything out !

  8. I actually love the cheaper M&S version in red. (I also love the Toga boots but I know that's never going to happen!) x

    1. I've seen more pics of the M&S ones and they look ace - much better than the TopShop ones definitely. An amazing version for the price. x

  9. I still love the original Chloé Susannas but the price is too high for such a trendy bootie. If I go spendy on shoes, etc., it has to be a classic. But I still have shoe lust every time I see them.

    1. You see, I'm moved on from the Susannas and definitely am taken with the more western feel of the Toga Pullas. And they are a third of the price...!!

  10. I have them in red. Excellent boots, very comfortable. All the metal jangling does make you sound like a cowboy when you walk though. They are also cut for a very slim ankle, but I don't imagine that would be a problem for you!

    1. I am way too old to wear them in red! But I am so pleased to hear they're comfortable. I am LOVING the idea of sounding like a cowboy though "snort" And yes, tbh, I have ankle wagging issues in most boots so ones that are slim cut would be totally ideal. Thanks for the heads up sugar xxx

    1. Yes, the more I look at the TS ones, the most they look just a poor imitation. Have to say I've seen more pics of the M&S ones and whilst they're not the same, they do look great. I fear my heart is lost to the originals though....

  12. Not for me - they're one step removed (pardon the pun) from bootlace ties and silver tipped collars! Yee-hah! My boot wish list are the beige suede R&B Chelsea boots. Prob going to be an early spring purchase once I have maxed my black leather R&B Chelseas (bought in April so no real chance to wear yet).

Top tip for those who brave suede 365 - Collonil waterstop spray. It's the absolute dog's dinglies. More expensive than most brands but works amazingly. Like fairy magic! I triple-coated a suede Mulberry bag in it, and tentatively poured a glass of water on it (holding my breath and crossing my fingers)... which ran off immediately!

    1. WHOA I like your cojones pouring water over a mulberry bag! Yes, I can highly recommend the spray too. I put it on my mushroom suede Zara boots and I can literally tramp through a puddle in them and nada. Excellent point.

These boots are no way going to be for everyone, I think I am probably on the verge of mid life crisis but hey ho, it's cheaper than a Harley Davidson and less drastic than a boob job x

    2. And wouldn't it be dull if we all schlepped around in the same things? :)

WRT your 'black coat' post, I entirely agree. Black has the tendency to look super cheap and ugly. I have only just found my dream black bag after 10 year - 'vintage' (so that'll be 2008-9...) Mulberry Emmy. Still no luck on the coat front though (which is just as well with two white kitties).

  13. Yes, feeling the love here for them too. A bit gutted as I had a grey buckle copy cat pair that I just got rid of as one of the buckles was broken. Maybe I should have tried to get it fixed and rocked this look come A/W. Hair looks fab! x

  14. Yes, these are definitely a Susanna copy which is great but I am definitely all about the Toga Pulla Buckle boots now!

  15. Geriatric Goth!! PMSL!! I think if anyone call pull them off it'll be you Kat! I quite like them but being rather short I think they would over power me! You've got the height & long legs so go forth and buckle boot Girl! Ax

  16. I love the Toga Pulla myself, but I just know they are too chunky for my already giant feet. Shame really.
