I fear I may need to get help.
As I seriously think I have an unhealthy addiction to shoes. For the record, never ever google "shoe fetish". There are things out there on the world wide web that one need never know. Safe to say I don't have a shoe "fetish" (not that I looked into it in too much detail - one swift glance at the results that Google threw up was more than enough)
Maybe it's because I'm pretty happy with the majority of the wardrobe I have at the moment - I loved so much of my Spring/Summer stuff from last year and I can't wait to wear it all again. But I'm such a flippety gibbet (code for spoilt cow I fear) that I do love adding new things to old outfits - just to give them a new lease of life.
And whilst I've been all about flat shoes recently (there is activity behind the scenes on that front, fear not....), I am still obsessing (mildly though) about the ones that got away - my beloved All Saints Manifest boots that looked like an utter crock of poo on me.
However I have stumbled across some which, whilst they're not a perfect alternative, are bang on the button for my current needs. And from...........drum roll...............Clarks!
This is my second pair of sandals from Clarks in two years (am on the verge of becoming a regular) - last year I had the multi strap wedge sandals (of which there are many more around this year - who'd have thought it?, ahead of the game Clarks). These aren't even from the Mary Portas range. These are your run of the mill, off the shelf, Clarks sandals. And I utterly adore them. Chunky monkey sandals. I love the solidity of them, the unashamed sturdiness and heaviness of them. Which is why they remind me so much of the peep toe shoe boots that I had been looking for.
There are a number of alternatives around if you're after something similar. Definitely a statement for the feet with not a hint of subtlety about them. They'll see you coming from a mile off.
And there's currently 20% off Clarks online with the code BLOOM until the 22nd April.
Sarina Betty Black Combi Leather £54.99
In the alternate colourway
Hobbs Raven shoe £169 I actually saw these instore and they are gorgeous. Again, I really don't think they look like they're from Hobbs at all. They are apparently only marginally higher than the Clarks ones - certainly doesn't feel like that on. They feel much much higher. And for me, the jury's out on the white heel. I don't think I'd get nearly as much wear out of them, whereas the Clarks ones I will wear on a daily basis.
Open ankle boot from & Other Stories £89 These are ones I've also been lusting after for ages, but again, much prefer the simplicity of the Clarks ones.
Sandals from H&M at £24.99 Now these look a lot better instore than they do here. They're not leather but what do you expect for £25?!
Top Shop are big fans of the block heel chunky sandal. Again, I've been lusting after these Grafter peep toe heels for a while. I think the colour is just perfect for the Summer and they're the perfect combo of sandal and shoot. But the silver heel just didn't quite work for me. To be fair though, I haven't seen in real life and so don't know how shiny it is.
Glad Black shoeboots £65 Stunning ( I appreciate there are people boaking at their screens as we speak) Somehow I don't find the white heel as incongruous here.
Gorgeous cut-out heels £62 I wish I could justify another pair - if I had an outfit to go to and these colours went with it, I'd buy these in a heartbeat. Needless to say I wouldn't be teaming with a cropped top. Dear. God. No.

I shall be back tomorrow with the continuation of my shoe obsession.
I had some cracking sandals from Clarkes two years ago. So impressed with them was I, that I got them in both colours x 2 pairs of each (that really is a shoe fetish). They have some good stuff if you hunt through all the rubbish.
ReplyDeleteYes there are some interesting options but then fair play to them - they're true to their core target market but have managed to branch out.
DeleteHave to buy those Clarks sandals, now you approve of them. Know they can do mumsy. x
ReplyDeleteHonestly they are completely completely gorgeous.
DeleteOh I really love these Clarks sandals (can scarcely believe I'm saying that) - can even see them with the much lauded boyfriend jeans to dress them up. Good find!
ReplyDeleteI KNOW!!! yes I am over the moon with them. They really don't look like Clarks at all!
DeleteI was about to self righteously bah humbug, more shoes who needs them?! and then I saw the pics, those Clarks ones are great, just high enough to give the legs a bit of shape, but look like you could walk all day in them and both colours are perfect. The brown would be great for holidays and creating an illusion of coltish, long brown legs!
ReplyDeleteYes indeedy! I love them. I genuinely wasn't looking for a pair of shoes like them at all but am over the moon with them.
DeleteLove the Clarks sandals. And given that you're now the shoe expert ... are there definitely no shoe boots to be had? I've decided that my life will be incomplete without a grey pair! Should I try to get rid of that notion now :(
ReplyDeleteHave messaged you - have a look at the grey J by Jasper Conran ones from Debenhams. Also a pair which are sturdier on Cos (in the sale section) Have sent you links for both xxxx
DeleteTotally love the Clarks ones! Such a fab find! Cant wait to see how you style them! Ax
ReplyDeleteI wore them the other day actually but didn't manage to get my photo papped. There will be plenty, plenty PLENTY of other opportunities for me to wear them!
DeleteI'm loving all the block heels but have been a flats girl for too long. I actually bought the H&M ones as a starting point as no big cash commitment (OH will be pleased!) - weirdly ha to size up plus they were £5 more in store than online! Still they look cool on and I shall wear them out to dinner where no long walks will be required! Really enjoy your blog - keep it coming! Mum22Girls
ReplyDeleteoh excellent! The H&M ones are much better looking in real life, aren't they? And thank you xxxx
Deleteoh damn, love the clark ones, of course on the Irish clarks site I had to trawl through 13 pages to find them and then of course you can't buy online! Might just have to pop in on my way home they are lovely! Can't wait to see them on you!
ReplyDeleteoh that's pants! I shall be wearing them again this week xx
DeleteAfter seeing this, I went in to clarks tried them on, loved them, came home, now awaiting their arrival and 20% off bonus. Thank you kat.
ReplyDeleteThis site was... how do I say it? Relevant!!
ReplyDeleteFinally I have found something that helped me. Thanks a lot!
