"Chelsea Chelsea I believe...."

that I finally need a pair of Chelsea boots in my life.  As a complete aside, that song by The Fratellis just reminds me of when we went to see the wrestling a couple of years ago.   Yes, the wrestling... as you do.  The boys were 8 and 6 and thought it was the most brilliant things they'd ever seen.  In to The Fratellis' song, marches the final wrestler of the night.. Little Legs.  "Little Legs, Little legs, little legs" the crowd (including my massively over enthusiastic boys were screaming - not including the husband who looked like he was sucking a wasp and had consumed horse piss instead of beer).  And who is Little Legs I hear you ask?  Well, I was as interested to see.  And yet... what is your reaction supposed to be when in strolls.. a dwarf.  Yes, dwarf wrestling... Not entirely sure on a scale of one to ten where that sits on the not so PC scale but hey, he seemed to be having an absolute blast and it was only me and another friend who were ever so slightly taken aback.  And now of course I can't hear the Fratellis without hearing an alternative background melody of "LITTLE LEGS, LITTLE LEGS"

But speaking of legs, these are the perfect addition at the foot end.

I have toyed with chelsea boots for years.  It's not been quite as much as a saga as the over the knee boots (which, whilst I do love them, I have to say I am very pleased I didn't purchase as I'm really not sure how much wear I would have got out of them) but they have certainly occupied the odd blog or two.

Now however, a little escapade into Pinterest (this is a Bad Idea by the way) confirms that my first purchase of the year is going to be a pair of these.  Just look... how have we lived without a pair of these in our lives?

I think they go with everything.  Dresses, skirts both midi and short, skinnies, cropped flares, these are going to be a complete winner.

And thanks to this pic below, I also need khaki peg leg leather trousers, dang it.

They are all pictures of the Acne Jensen.  And admittedly these pics are all (well mostly) of skinnies which doesn't entirely prove my point.  These are scarily expensive for a pair of boots.  But they are simply perfect.  I have spent the last two days (whilst not drinking) looking for flat (but not completely flat...) pointed Chelsea boots.  And there are very very few around  If you want pointed.  Which I do.  These are the Ultimate in Chelsea Boots.  Take my word for it.

Jensen in black suede £400  EXCEPT oh my lord, if you are a size 36 there's a half price pair in the sale.  You jammy so and so.

If you would perhaps like a burgundy pair.. and I have toyed with the idea but personally I am in the market for a black pair.

Jensen Bordeaux now £227 was £390

However... - you didn't think I'd let you down, did you?  Having not come up trumps on a good alternative to the Stewart Weitzman Lowland boots, I think this time I may have come up with a cunning alternative...which are now in the sale and are almost a quarter of the price of the full price Jensens.

Ash Mira Slip on low heel boot was £185 now £111

Or in the textured leather now £120

So Jensens compared to the Miras?  I think I'm going to order both to compare and contrast (hoping that the Miras are better, clearly)

Other options.  A pink pair.. now this is a good idea actually... Although perhaps not the most versatile compared to a black pair.

ASOS Ava Suede Pointed ankle boots in pink £55

Absolutely seething that these aren't available in my size although lots of others are still available.  Love these and what an amazing price.

ASOS Run Away Leather Mix Pointed Chelsea Ankle Boots were £40 now £28

These aren't leather but as I always say, a great starter for err £22.50 if you're not sure you're going to get loads of wear out of them.

ASOS Right About Now Pointed Chelsea Ankle Boots were £38 now £22.50

These I did manage to try yesterday - they were pretty darn ace actually but.. not pointy enough for me.

Basing Chelsea Boots from Topshop £42 but an amazing price for a pair of leather shoes.  I didn't realise they were that cheap and would have guessed at them being the £65/£70 mark in Topshop.  Definitely worth a look.

Great sale on at Seven Boot Lane and these are another Chelsea boot option.  Alas, not pointy enough for me.  I want to be able to pop balloons in mine.

Evita Flat Ankle Boots in charcoal snake suede were £150 now £85

ASOS Riddles Chelsea Boots £55  These are a slightly higher version and not as pointed which might work better for some people.

Another higher pair in the sale at Monsoon and off piste in the tan colour.

Baird Pointed Chelsea Boots were £69 now £34.50

So that's the plan.

And with regards to purchases for the New Year, I shall be back with some ideas in January about how we can make our wardrobes work harder for us.

In the meantime, here I am in my outfit from yesterday and my new coat which I love.  Absolutely love.  And... there were some left instore at Whistles at Bluewater if anyone is interested.  Mine is the Medium which, as I think I said the other day, I would say is a 12.

Grey star jumper - hush
Grey Baxter jeans - Topshop

Red Soho Disco bag - Gucci

And last night for our New Year's Eve party which was fantastic.

Leather leggings - hush
Black asymmetric court shoes - Zara

Now I didn't post yesterday as I had planned, so firstly apologies.  And secondly, I'd like to say a huge huge thank you to everyone for reading and for commenting.  I hope you continue to enjoy the blog throughout the coming year.

I don't intend to reinvent the wheel at all with regards to the blog content, yes I've got a couple of ideas up my sleeve to add to what I've done in the past, but I was thinking about changing the look of the blog and wondered what people thought of it.  No adverts on the side or anything like that, but I was thinking about changing the bags...  Is a change as good as a rest or should I leave them?  And no, I don't know what I was planning on replacing them with....

  5. Happy New Year!!! Glad you're not going with ads - never convinced by blogs singing praises of a brand when it's got a flashing ad in the margin.... Agree with the others - the bags maybe could be replaced but I have to say I never noticed them till you just pointed them out now xx

    1. Happy New Year! Well at least the bags aren't causing offence..! Lots of brands do support blogs and I think if you are an ambassador for a certain brand then having them advertised is fine but It's when you have no control over what the ads are and they just pop up regardless..! I prefer to link to a specific item which I hope is more helpful than just recommending a brand per se. But most people do both. I just like the clean (if not very classy looking...!!) look of no extra detail on the page but then everyone is different x

    2. You can just tag each blog, say with 'boots' 'skinny trousers' 'dresses' etc. It's easy, bloglovin gives you the option to tag and you can make up your own. Then you have to make sure readers can see the tags on the homepage. Also easy and in the template options.

    3. AHA... well you learn something new every day. On Blogger can you do this? I know you can on Wordpress but I haven't noticed it (but I haven't looked..) on blogger.. This sounds genius! (and I'm assuming it then comes up in the search function?!)

Now. The boots....yes buy Chelsea boots - I buy a new pair every year in Topshop (I have the basing ones you featured) and wear them into the ground. They are unbeatable value and quality!!
I have a pair of acne pistol boots which I have had reheeled about four times I wear them so much and they still look perfect two years later!. So in that basis I would but the jensens as you'll have them forever!! 14. Hi Kat, happy new year! I bought the Acne Jensen in a size 6 as I'm typically a size 6.5. These were so tight on my foot so I returned them, the only issue I think if you've a bigger foot they can look rather long but perhaps that's just the way they appear when first looking down at them. I might consider repurchasing in a size 7. Do you think you will purchase them or the ASH ones?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Well thank goodness I read this as I would probably have ordered the 39 but have ordered the 40 this morning instead (free postage so it costs me nothing!) Yes and there is the issue with penguin feet... So I've also ordered the Ash Miras to try. Will pap so you can compare and contrast. xxx (I ordered a 6 and a 7 in the Ash ones... )

  15. Firstly Kat, Happy New Year. I am looking forward to your blogs for 2016. yes to changing the bags. I brought my first ever pair of Chelsea boots a couple of months ago at the grand age of 51, Just had a scary thought that i am 52 this year, not a thought i like, but back to the Chelsea boots, I am really happy with them and surprised how much wear i am getting out of them. To be honest i thought they would be an itch i had to scratch but now wondering how i managed without them in my wardrobe. Hope you find a pair you love. Mine were Clarks of all places in the sale having trawled the internet for hours looking for the "right" pair. x

  17. I was so so pleased to see this blog on Chelsea boots as I have just purchased some from a fab shop in Winchester called the Hambledon which had it's sake on Monday, everything half price. I got these Hudson ones https://www.hudsonshoes.com/compound-black-boot.html.
I love them but I suspect they are not pointy enough for you Kat.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh they are lovely and Hudson boots are such great quality and always have that lovely slightly vintage look to them. But you're right, this time I am looking for super pointy (she says not having tried any on yet and loving the pics of people who have tried them who are probably a size 4 and not a boat sized 7.....)

      Delete
  18. Well I've ordered both pairs so we'll see. If you google images of the Ash ones, they don't actually look too high on most people at all.. and being tall (sorry - selfish cow moment..!) I'm wondering (hoping as they're a quarter of the price) that they may be better?

Jeans.. ho hum. Jeans... Well... cropped definitely seems to the shape de jour but to be honest with you, I'm not sure denim is as prevalent as it once was. I think the shape is very important but again, pretty much anything goes these days....

With regards to your (brilliant!) blog, I 99% read on my iPad so don't see the bags at all but they could maybe be replaced with something else now. Actually, no background at all would be good, just white! And the idea to tag your posts is great, it'd make searching for particular ones much easier if they haven't already been saved. Sorry, blethering now........! X

  21. FWIW - Stuart Weitzman website has a sale on the Loden Lowlands right now £390 (40% off). I just took a massively big gulp and bought them. Still expensive, but I think this price is as good as it's going to get, and, like you, I've been obsessed with them for the better part of a year!

    1. That is definitely as good as it's going to get. In my head I have worn these so often, I've now managed to talk myself over them. Does that make sense?! Think it may have gone up since I started reading your blog but have some super things would not otherwise have found or thought of - including red metallic mesh golden goose trainers. Just arrived, gorgeous - but think I will have to change the laces so they are not quite so grubby. Or would that be sacrilege?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Spreadsheet.. now that's a good idea. I haven't actually bought that much this season (admittedly I have been given quite a lot) and lots that I have bought, I've sent back. Pretty much have worn everything a lot bar a couple of things - which were cheap and crap from, yes, you've guessed it. bloody Zara. Apart from my long grey cardigan which I have lived in at home!

Now the laces - interestingly the ones I ordered from Net a Porter which I sent back, had randomly clean laces as well which made them look odd. I think the laces also need to be bashed up and grey dirty. As weird as that sounds - when I got them out of the box, I thought they didn't look right.. compared to my white ones and it was the laces that were different (I think someone must have changed them...). They also need to be grubby for the effect to work (the proper New Emperor's Clothes effect, that is!!!) I LOVE mine!

  27. I finally bought the Born Chelsea boot this fall after wanting them forever and buying two other pairs of black ankle boots instead... Now I don't wear anything else! Love them with my Everlane black double knit dress, so think about wearing them with a dress or skirt too. I wanted FLAT FLAT FLAT and not pointy, since my other ankle boots have heels and pointy toes. Couldn't be happier. I also tried the Clarks, which I thought were too wide in the ankle. Definitely recommend the Born pair, which were about $120 US.

I did have a look at other housey blogs and oh my lord, they knew everything about everything, so I did feel mine would have had a very narrow field of appeal (and I wouldn't have anything to say after a couple of blogs!!)

I do post pics and will continue to do so as I finally get round to putting the finishing touches to all the room (will I ever be finished...?!) and post pics on Insta. Am always happy to answer any questions about anything interiors related over there! Or via email. xxxx

  30. I had exactly the same thoughts as you about the Jensens and spent days searching for a cheaper alternative. I thought I was lucky to find some Aldo Korin boots on eBay which are similar, but the first time I wore them I noticed that the left boot unzips itself. They are almond toe, as I am of the wide foot variety, and are not fancy, but it is snowy in Vermont and slippery sometimes and my sturdy leather Bog boots are doing the job nicely.
