I've come over all Hepburn

Of either the Audrey or Katharine variety.  (well hopefully...) 

So I've blogged previously about my new found love of shirts which I have been sporting over the A/W and am very keen to continue to wear into the Spring/Summer.  But the issue was that the ones I've been wearing are rather on the oversized size.  I've found these have worked best over skinnies with my sweatshirts on and a large overcoat.  I have worn and loved. 

But will these work in the Spring?  I was looking for something a little more fitted and so when Hawes & Curtis contacted me and asked if they could help in my shirt quest that they'd been following, it would have rude to say no.  I had looked at some of the Jermyn Street luxury shirt retailers before and included them on blogs but hadn't actually tried any on so this was a great opportunity to see if any would actually work.

To be honest, a) I had assumed that there wouldn't be a huge selection of women's shirts and b) I wasn't sure whether there would be anything that would suit me as I had (wrongly) assumed it was all a bit worky worky worky and a bit too classic ladies shirts for me.  Well, that goes to show, like I regularly say on here, it doesn't pay to judge a book by its cover.   

As soon as I saw the 3/4 sleeve fitted hipster shirt I thought all things Hepburn.  Audrey, with skinnies or capri pants and ballet flats - perhaps a little blazer, crew neck jumper or cocoon coat over the top.  Katharine, with a more androgynous look - boyfriend or straight leg jeans turned up with loafers or brogues and of course, the ubiquitous blazer.  All very much looks which I'm planning on channelling this S/S.

French Navy was the obvious choice (even though I also have my eye on a black one) and I wore it yesterday.  I am so so pleased with the look, I can honestly say that I had more comments yesterday on my outfit than I've had in a long time.  It even got the approval of the 9yr old (which is praise indeed, her being the most highly critical of all my outfits) and one of my closest friends said she thought it looked "very Audrey Hepburn" *punches air* (and that was unprompted by the way.  Mission accomplished and things don't normally happen to me like that.  For example, not one but two people asked me the other night is my new Kenzo top was a "Zara number". Great.)

Ladies French Navy was £69 now £25  These are great as they're not 100% cotton, they have a percentage of elastane (3%) in them so have a fabulous stretch.  They are beautifully fitted and I would say relatively generous on the bust.  I love the oversized collar and the tiny vent in the sleeve.  Great length too, even on a spaghetti body like me.  

And here it is on me yesterday.  I went for a power walk with friends first thing and so after showering and changing, the weather had really warmed up and it was actually too hot for a jacket (something I never thought I'd write in March).  Decided to put the Whistles Structured top over it and I love love love the look.  Can't wait to experiment more.
